  1. I'm excited for something like this. The current site is just so unresponsive sometimes compared to other sites. I don't know if that's mostly just server strain or if the site is resource heavy or not optimized. One thing I noticed is that if the mainpage is still loading in Chrome and you click on any interactable (including links) the whole page will refresh for some reason. There's also the problem of the subsections in mod pages taking a while to load, especially for descriptions and comments, but that's probably just the modders going overboard with design. In all, this site is one of the more clunky sites I routinely visit, and so it could definitely use both an aesthetic and technical tune-up.
  2. I should have read this post. I should have read this post man... Now I just bombed my New Vegas install. And all I wanted to do was test a quick mod...
  3. In response to post #25793864. #25794784 is also a reply to the same post. Ya I know. I was just imagining some kind of hypothetical nightmare scenario.
  4. Can you imagine if they announced no support for mods? That would be absolutely terrible. Like the Battlefront details, but ten times worse...
  5. In response to post #25792234. #25793439 is also a reply to the same post. Yes! A more stable engine would mean better support for more mods and more complex mods.
  6. PC exclusive or get out... Nah I'll play it no matter what.
  7. In response to post #9715500. A respectable point of view to hold. People often forget that critics are also integral to the process of refining and improving quality. The Nexus would be in a different and possibly worse shape if all of its users simple nodded their heads and said nothing but praise for everything that happened. I'm not saying that the site owners themselves don't have anything to do with the quality, because they very much do. Moreover, it is almost assured that they would roll out improvements regardless, but constructive criticism ensures that it happens. (I will not even touch what separates constructive criticism and "whining" because that's a whole other topic with enough fire.) [Casts steadfast ward]
  8. Good thing I haven't had the need to download mods in awhile. Are you guys 100% sure that the malware is out of the servers yet?
  9. Hey, I've been working on a scope mod but I'm having problems after a few first successful runs. I was making scopes for Halo guns in GIMP. The first one I did, for the Battle Rifle, came out completely fine. It had transparency and everything. However, I then decided to make one for the DMR. I have no idea but when I use the scope it looks like a mess of artifacts and discolored pixels. I used the same scope .nif so and have ruled out a problem with that. I have narrowed it down to the scope dds file itself. However, I'm not sure what's wrong with it. I'm not sure if it's the compression I'm using (BC3/DXT5) though I don't remember exactly the compression I used for the BR scope or if it had mipmaps. It has some partial transparency so I don't know If I'm handling that right. This just really puzzles me because I'm sure I did the same thing for the DMR scope that I did for the BR, but the former is a mess while the latter is just fine. Here are some links (plus downloads for the GIMP file and dds file) BR Scope Screenshot(http://img687.imageshack.us/img687/7512/screenshot5qz.png) DMR Scope Screenshot(http://imageshack.us/a/img42/1063/screenshot4hu.png) BR dds(http://www.mediafire.com/?irej0tje9s32pzs) DMR dds(http://www.mediafire.com/?ixogb2x4oq1c7qo) DMR GIMP File(http://www.mediafire.com/?lts2q9kjnss1bxp) If you could check these out and maybe see what's wrong that would be great.
  10. I too have had this problem since this morning. Some apparently can download no problem, but then again others say they get the error even though its been more than an hour. http://skyrim.nexusmods.com/mods/21829
  11. Have you tried exorcising your game? But seriously, I believe that this is a known bug that is especially common in Honeyside house in Riften. Maybe you could search that for fixes, if they're there.
  12. Hi. Sorry if this has been solved before, but I have no idea how to search for a topic on this. Anyways I just began using nifskope and managed to only figure out not even the basics. In Skyrim, I extracted a nif of a sword and added a new texture from Gimp. Everything looks fine and when I load it and preview in the Creation Kit, the weapon looks just like I wanted it to. However, when I actually play the game, the weapon is extremely dark and has brightly colored pixels and stripes randomly generated all over it. When I attack with it (and get blood on the sword) parts of it turn neon purple. I have no idea what's going on and have spent several days trying to fix/figure it out. I don't know why, but I'm suspecting it has to do with the shader flags in the BSLightingShaderPropertys. Maybe I have the wrong ones? They are Shader Flags 1: SLSF1_Specular|SLSF1_Environment_Mapping|SLSF1_Recieve_Shadows|SLSF1_Cast_Shadows|SLSF1_Own_Emit|SLSF1_Remappable_Textures|SLSF1_ZBuffer_Test and Shader Flags 2: SLSF2_ZBuffer_Write|SLSF2_Double_Sided|SLSF2_Vertex_Colors|SLSF2_EnvMap_Light_Fade Are these shaders okay for Skyrim? Is there even a problem with shaders here? Since it looks fine in the Creation Kit, but not Skryrim, is the problem with either of these two? The texture is a .dds, uses BC1/DXT1 compression, and mipmaps were generated. Anyways, here it is in nifskope: http://img268.imageshack.us/img268/525/nifsinge.png How it looks in Creation Kit: http://img209.imageshack.us/img209/2292/creationkit.png But how it actually looks ingame: http://img521.imageshack.us/img521/8966/singeglitch.png Here are the actual nif files 1stperson: http://www.mediafire.com/?t4kpuqk2bwzpm9v and World: http://www.mediafire.com/?wr1reyrkrekmbrm Just recently, when previewing the model in the Creation Kit I get this: Assert Assert File: C:\_Skyrim\Code\TESV\BSShader\Shaders\BSLightingShaderProperty.cpp Line: 806 I've been wracking my brain on this for days and help would be much appreciated, thanks!
  13. I just started modding and decided to began with a simple retexture. I've been working on a retexture of a glassword, and (after numerous setbacks) have found out how to work it. First I extracted the Chillrend texture, modified it in Gimp, and eventually figured out how to place it on 1stpersonglasssword.nif in nifskope. When I was in the Creation Kit, I selected the new nif for a duplicate sword and it rendered fine. No problems. It looks the way I wanted it to in the preview window. However, when I actually play with it in-game its dark black and has brightly colored pixels all over it. What did I do wrong? It looks to me llike the error is somewhere in nifskope, but I can't tell.
