  1. Because let's take Cathedral Concept Majestic Mountains as an example. There is still the ONE requirement, the ONE thing that the author asks for. Honor me and my content by crediting me. "This is enough HONOR" for me. But exactly this bare minimum gets violated already so often. Or the credits of other artists are just really small and barely visible on a mod description. Which is sad as well. So in the end Cathedral would probably work, if even this bare minimum wouldnt get trampled on already so often. Parlor often is a way for Mod Authors as well to get an oversight. And in the end its a way, that others can inform you, hey, your mod got used without permission, or without credit. Again, if everyone would be humble and appreciative, Cathedral would be an amazing system that works for all, everyone is on the same level. Nobody gets left behind, treated badly. But thats not the case. And as long as this isn't the case, Cathedral is a nice idea, but not more than that. An idea, an ideology.
  2. I think as well, thereâs a difference when we see an authors open general permission because they will go inactive. Itâs not that they think, ahhh, cathedral is so good. Itâs just they know they canât give permission anymore, so they open it up. See Fair skin and Mature skin. Using assets from others and creating your own stuff isnât black and white and it isnât an easy thing. Maybe there lies the issue. People wanna simplify something that is complex and actually canât be simplified. For example I use assets from all kinds of people, open permission and where I have to ask. Because I am allowed by both parties to use the assets I can create something amazing. Means thou I canât use open permission. I have to lock my work and can only use either the dependency system or people need to pm me, and tell me exactly what they wanna use, so I can either redirect them to the author or tell them, this is open permission, you need to credit this or that person. Or use THEIR assets not mine. Itâs gets even more complicated in my case, because I use merged assets. Means a skin texture file can include several different artists. Myself included as I do some stuff myself. Therefore using only cathedral assets can restrict creativity, too. And doesnât mean it opens up creativity. It only means as well new stuff canât go in all kind of directions. In a way itâs as well static. All in all, modding means to honor the authors you use the assets from. Because you wouldnât be able to create your mod without them. And there is the issue. It isnât cathedral vs parlor. Itâs the lack of appreciation for someone elseâs hard work. Because at the end of the day, people in the âparlorâ system often just end up there, because people were not fair, either pretend the assets they used are their own, used them without even crediting, used assets without being humble about it. What brings us back to the biggest issue - cathedral might work in an utopian world. Or it might have once worked as mods were hosted on platforms that werenât businesses. Embedding cathedral on nexus is like having communism with an all controlling political party with one leader who has all the power. It simply doesnât work with the people involved. And itâs not directly cathedral that is the issue, itâs the world and itâs people itâs embedded in. You can turn and twist it, in the end you shouldnât belittling the frustration and hurt of people who got abused by said system and tell them suck it up for the greater good of everyone. Because those people are part of the group as well, excluding them and telling them they doesnât matter defeats the point of the greater good Anyways. As it then falls apart being just another construction that just benefits again a certain group - and not everyone. Which is the sentiment behind cathedral after all. But in the end itâs just another construction that pretends to be cathedral, but in reality itâs again - the strongest wins.
  3. Paga, I truly love your writing style. You are a treasure <3I agree - this sums it all up! Itâs so well said!!
  4. The thing is thou, that, like many things in life, this isnât a black and white topic, nor does a cathedral supporter want that their broken mods continue to break things when people use them. Like all systems have strength and weakness. I donât even say I am parlor nor cathedral. I just donât want that bad people get away with their bad behavior edit: and I donât want that my mods break things. And something like cathedral for example invites abuse and unappreciativeness immense. Then we have as well the case, cathedral might work in an utopian world, but we donât live in one. Do I want the world and the people to be different where stuff like cathedral approach work. Sureâ¦I really do. But that ainât the reality.
  5. Yeah, actually a friend of mine sent me a DM yesterday showing a GamesRadar and i got aware of what's happening. I've beeing away from the site for some about half a year, maybe a little more because irl stuff ;\ But gods be dammed, hope modders manage to create a new heaven for their work, and that be a place thar fracking respect their works...  Would be interesting to see how many unique IPs of the 29million users have clicked on the announcement and then how many digged themselves through that wall of textâ¦.
  6. Oh gosh so much this! Cathedral gets as well abused as a shallow argument to justify greed, unappreciativeness and selfishness.
  7. Thatâs exactly it! If you wanna be cathedral, fine work within cathedral. Itâs actually thou pretty sad, because many mod authors grant you permission. In the end, this all just evolved because people didnât ask and just ripped stuff away without even giving proper credit. So it all boils down again to, if people could be just at least decent.
  8. I have her blocked too, but when I see the quoted posts I am likeâ¦oh come on. I donât answer her personally nor do I quote her. For the sake of others.
  9. Well, a fair bit of content for various games is going to disappear from here. (or, has, as the case may be) but, Nexus will go on. New authors will come along, upload their stuff here, and here it shall forever remain. There will never be a lack of content here. For the rest of it, some of it is just gone, and some more of it is available elsewhere. The days of Nexus being the central repository for the major mods is over. And they did it to themselves. Exactly! With this move they were hurting their image and their market value extremly. Because quality of content is very important not quantity.
  10. But anyway this whole thread mutated to Bunnyâs blog. Bunnyâs daily epiphanies. Bunnyâs feelings and impressions. But this whole thing isnât about Bunny. Itâs about nexus and how they implemented some major TOS changes without people knowing and about mod authors rights that get violated. If bunny wants a Thread about herself, her epiphanies, feelings and worries, bunny maybe should open her own thread.
  11. People are very welcome to look at my profile and on my picture section and try to recreate my stuffâ¦xD Very WELCOME!!! Yes because we are all forgotten, and thatâs why people still after all this years search for SG hair. And what if people are so forgotten - so exchangeable like you say, then your whole point of mod preservation is meaningless as you just argumented against your own argument.
  12.   For me it was Subnautica, 45 out of 152, and the ones that are gone now, were some of the highest rated Mods and Modders for the game. And I'd like to make another point, I remember in one of these threads, one of the "Negative" people saying that most will stay because there was only a a "Handful" of modders being vocal about this in the thread. Well, two of the top modders for Subnautica have removed all their mods, and NEITHER of them posted in these threads, or anywhere else, they were quiet about it the entire time, and instead just left a small paragraph on their mod pages. so, out of the 152 mods I have downloaded/download for Subnautica, 45 are gone, that's 30% of my LOAD ORDER.   Three top Subnautica modders left quietly, and from what I can tell, they took down a collective of 84 mods. Maybe others also left from that community, so the total number could be more.Yes! Itâs so sadâ¦it feels so much like losing a homeâ¦.-_-
  13. And I think you and others including me as well said that it isnât ok to burden the MA with stuff that should be the responsibility of the collection curators. Like providing conflict help, and ensure that lists work no matter a mod gets deleted. Like MAs have to do too, when their mods depend on another mod, and that one gets deleted. So itâs not collections people have issues per say with. Itâs more the realistic issues that arise with them and that those got burden on the MAs. As well the sneaky/shady implementation of the file deletion farce. If a mod author wouldnât have stumbled over it by accident nobody would know that we canât delete files anymore and that changes in TOS are already there without informing people of said changes. So no - itâs not that MAs donât like collections - they donât like how nexus handled it. Itâs like when twitch would implement collections for VODS without telling streamers. Then a streamer would try to delete their vod and accidentally finds out itâs impossible anymore. It only gets archived but can accessed over the API. What would have caused a riot. That you can be sure of. Edit: oh and the fact that one click install is only accessible over their own mod manager and ONLY when you pay. This means the feature is paywalled. Which actually goes abspulte against the so often quoted cathedral concept from people who are pro nexus file deletion changes. And actually doesnât ensure that itâs wide spread accessible like they claim it is meant for. Itâs not noble, itâs just trying to make money. What means marginalized groups are again disadvantaged. What defeats the whole point of their noble argument. Because if you donât have the money, for whatever reason - you CANT use the one click feature.
  14. I have a linktree on my ABOUT page with the needed links - all mods are for now on my own blog. Serana/Valerica v2 is on AFKmods and Mods in Exile. I will upload in the next weeks on the other 2 plattform the rest of my mods. But EVERYTHING is for now on my blog. So from now on - on my own blog - LeelooMinai's Little Modding Corner, AFKmods and Mods In Exile. :) Thanks for the support ya'll - the mod users and the MAs!!! Means a lot! <3
  15. A point i was thinkig about as well. Thats what I thinlk is the worst part about this. Thnis is so shady. Sigh.... And its my impression sadly, too. Andn later on saying, it was discussed with MAs....like 0.003% of them....<_<
