Hi everyone. I've done a couple xnb mods that are on the Nexus right now, I'm looking to do some more but before I do, I'm looking to get a better understanding of a few things. The things I'm interested in adding are things such as Hardwood Tree stumps and the like. When editing the map files, I cannot see how these are loaded onto the map during gameplay, which makes editing certain maps extremely difficult. If anyone could shed some light on this that would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance.

Need help with creating a mod

Before you edit anything, I would suggest learning how to unpack xnb files to their core files, some of these files are string files (they hold data such as what is said by various characters, or those messages you get when right click on certain objects in other characters homes, or even what is said on the TV) I would look through a bunch of these files until you have a basic understanding of what each file is doing. Download Notepad++ also, it's a very handy text editor. -
broke my stardew, need help fixing it.

You don't have to lose your save file. Simply type "%appdata%" without the quotes in your file explorers navigation input, then look for the StardewValley folder, then Saves, and backup your save folder, uninstall the game, reinstall the game, and copy your backed up save folder back to the same location you got it from. Presto, reinstall to default with no loss to save files. -
Well that's good to know, I was thinking of uploading a zip with the most commonly replaces xnb files so people had backups. Good thing I didn't lol

Any way to restore a .xnb to it's original? :c

You can backup your save file to reinstall the game without losing any of your hard work. What was the xnb file that was replaced? I may upload a zipped folder with the most commonly replaced xnb files so people can have a readily available backup. As for backing up your save files. Open a new file explorer, click on the main entry box at the top and type "%appdata%" without the quotes, search for your Stardew Valley folder, then the Saves folder, then copy the folder inside that folder that is associated with your character (should be charactername_########) to a backup folder. uninstall the game, and then reinstall the game (also make a backup folder containing all of the mods you have before uninstalling so you can quickly copy all of your mods back in to the mods folder after you re-install. Hope this helps.
