  1. A mod suggestion. With the new inability to upgrade non-iconic weapons, there are some weapons that seem basically impossible to get in tier 5++. In particular, if you want to use a katana with the new iconic weapon mod (Severance), you apparently need to compromise for a tier 5 katana (or maybe a really lucky 5++ drop from an enemy), since none of the iconic katanas have mod slots. But vendors don't sell them and most enemy drops are already modded. This seems like just a general problem introduced in 2.0, vendors have become practically useless for anything except ammo and clothes. Even worse, crafting is totally useless by the endgame because everything you craft is outclassed by iconic items. And the game practically throws iconic weapons at you. By the time you reach level 40 there's no sense in drafting or using vendors. But before then, you're not wasting your money on weapon vendors because every 10 levels the rarity increases. And besides, you don't have many crafting recipes until you reach the endgame anyway. So if you do a whole playthrough from level 1 to level 60 on 2.01, you probably won't end up crafting anything except maybe ammo, item components and quickhacks. Which leads me to the suggestion - vendors seem not to sell ++ items. That is, they may sell tier 5, and a lower quantity of tier 5+ occasionally, but I've never seen a tier 5++ item in a shop's inventory. The same goes for tier 4 and 4++, all the way down. There seems to be no possibility for ++ items in shops. Which means there is basically no way to get an Arasaka 2020 katana at tier 5++. Which is pretty bad because that particular item can only be spawned in at tier 1, and the only console command I can find to set item rarity is really buggy (for example, it adds clothing mod slots to all your clothes, even though clothing mods no longer exist). So I'm just screwed out of any way to use Severance until I somehow manage to find an enemy who drops a 5++ Arasaka 2020 katana, which I'm not sure is even possible, so I wouldn't bother trying to farm something that may not even be in the loot tables. It's already rare enough to find one at tier 5. Another possibility would be a mod that allows you to upgrade non-iconic weapons. There is a mod on the nexus that apparently does this, but it has a lot of bug reports. Actually, a mod that does both, making both crafting and vendors actually useful, should be a big hit.
  2. Skyrim has wooden roadsigns, and there are several popular mods that improve the meshes and textures for these roadsigns. But ultimately, they all suffer from one major problem — although medieval wooden roadsigns are a kind of trope in popular media, historically they were pretty rare, because wood is soft and organic and prone to deterioration. Throughout history, if you wanted to inscribe something with text or symbols, and you wanted it to last so you wouldn't have to redo it every couple decades, you built that thing out of stone. In particular, if medieval people wanted to place mile markers on a highway, they would build a milestone. As you might have guessed, that's where we get the term milestone. So, it would make sense if all of Skyrim's roadsigns were replaced by milestones with the same information. And it would make even more sense if, instead of only indicating the direction to a town (as they do in the base game), the milestones also specified the distance from here to there. From what I understand, the Elder Scrolls universe uses the Imperial system of measurement. So the inhabitants of Skyrim would probably record distance in miles. This isn't really a request, since I don't actually play Skyrim anymore. It's just something that popped into my head, so I did a search for milestones, and saw there weren't any mods doing this. So I figured I'd record my suggestion for any mod authors interested in making Skyrim look and feel more realistic. Cheers! An example of a milestone in the Roman Imperial province of Hispania.
  3. I did download the file and compare it with the original I uploaded, and my original post says that I did. I've since deleted the original file from both my computer and the nexus, in the event it actually is a virus. So I can't check the hash or anything. Wish I thought of that earlier. Unfortunately I was too busy trying to respond to the people complaining that my mod is a virus lol.
  4. Okay nevermind about the main API key thing. I'm an idiot. I have been running a malwarebytes complete scan for hours trying to see if I actually have a virus (I have its active protection on 24/7 so it would be absurd for this workstation to be infected, but you never know), and found nothing on my NVMe drives, but now I'm checking all my RAID volumes of spinner drives which is gonna take days probably. So it turns out that vortex's online aspects are somehow blocked or firewalled by malwarebytes, at least for me, and at least while a scan is actively running. So after pausing the scan it works fine again. However I'm still pretty concerned about this trojan thing. I reuploaded the file and that one is fine. All the other files I uploaded the same day (both before and after) are also fine according to malwarebytes and windows defender. It was just the main 4K file that was allegedly a trojan. But my original file was fine and virustotal said the uploaded one was fine too. Yet multiple people downloaded that file and had the same report. I can't remember the exact name of the trojan but if you look in the comments of my dirt cliffs mod, it's in there.
  5. After the last stable update I can no longer log in. When I manually input the API key, it appears to work, my avatar and username appear randomly after like 5 minutes. But trying any download or even trying a "check for updates" on a single mod does not work and returns a notification "API Key validation timed out." When I click retry, nothing happens. When I quit out of vortex and start back up, I'm logged out. Tried on my other computer, tried on a VPN, no luck. I don't know if it's network related because I was able to upload updates to my mod without any problems. By the way, this is unrelated but a file I uploaded to the nexus somehow turned into a trojan. I know that sounds bizarre. I uploaded the archive and users told me it was quarantined by windows defender as a trojan script. I thought that's absurd and they should get a new antivirus. But later I checked the file myself. The one I have on my hard drive was fine (this is the SAME exact archive file I uploaded) according to windows defender and malwarebytes. But I tried downloading the file off nexus and checking THAT one and windows defender reported it as a virus. Even though virustotal said it was fine. So maybe virustotal received the file I actually uploaded, but users received some other file that was corrupted or perhaps actually viral. I don't know. All I know is I spent a couple hours running a complete scan of my entire system with malwarebytes and it found nothing. The original file was perfectly normal. Only the file I downloaded from the nexus reported as a trojan. Anyway i'm not complaining, just letting you know so someone can look into this in the unlikely event your CDN is actually compromised or something. As for the vortex API key validation not working, that's a bigger problem. It gives me the impression I'm going to need to uninstall the mod manager, which would ruin my entire mod setup
  6. you'd think the name might give it away lol
