  1. You're trying to download the version of SMAPI that's for the multiplayer beta(1.3 and above), instead of the version that's for the stable 1.2 release. Pretty sure this is operator error, not a bug.
  2. Two questions: one, have you tried adjusting settings within the game? Lighting quality and the like? And two, does SMAPI throw up any errors or messages while it's running that would clue you in on any problems? (I'm assuming you probably have looked into those things, honestly, but those are the first guesses that come to mind and I'm not really sure what else to suggest that'd be helpful.)
  3. Yeah...the primary problem with XnbNode, XNBExtract, and similar programs is that they're .exe files, which don't actually work on Macs. The only way to run .exe files on a Mac is to go through a program like Wine (which I don't know how to use much at all) or CrossOver(which I do somewhat know how to use, but doesn't always work). I was mostly wondering whether there was a comparable program to XnBNode or the like that's in a file format that can run natively on a Mac. As it happens, though, I was in fact able to get XnBNode working through CrossOver. Still a little more complicated than a native Mac program, but a lot less hassle than I feared. (And the worst case scenario would it have been flat out not working at all.) So I've figured out how to edit and re-convert things! All I have to do now is make sure they actually work as intended, but I don't see why they wouldn't. Thanks for the advice, though!
  4. No problem! :D It feels good to be able to help people out with things like this, and surprisingly there aren't actually a whole lot of hairstyle mods to go through so it wasn't difficult to track down once I had a picture for comparison. Plus I definitely know the feel of coming back to Stardew after a year or two of not playing. Have fun!
  5. Most purely aesthetic mods shouldn't be affected by the beta too much, really. Anyway, I think you'd get more answers if you narrowed down what kind of mods you're looking for, and what aesthetics you want to change. If you want to tweak the map, check out A Less Yellow Stardew. ( https://www.nexusmods.com/stardewvalley/mods/1387 ) Karmylla's Immersive Map Edits is a lot more interesting, but it isn't currently updated for the beta...although it sounds like a Content Patcher-friendly version may be out soon? ( https://www.nexusmods.com/stardewvalley/mods/1149 ) If you want to tweak your horse, I can't recommend Better Horses highly enough. ( https://www.nexusmods.com/stardewvalley/mods/1421 ) Real Life Horses is almost as good, though. ( https://www.nexusmods.com/stardewvalley/mods/759 ) If you want to tweak your buildings, your pet, the villagers, or the bachelors, there's really no point in my linking anything because most mods only have one option per mod, and what you'd like is entirely a matter of your personal preferences. I personally am partial to an Umbreon cat ( https://www.nexusmods.com/stardewvalley/mods/176 ), the bachelors overhaul by Nongdarn ( https://community.playstarbound.com/threads/mods-portraits-harvey-sam-sebastian-elliott-alex-by-nongdarn.111237/ ) with a side of Elliot from this other mod ( https://www.nexusmods.com/stardewvalley/mods/144 ) , and specific tweaks to villagers as desired. For example, I mix things like this more handsome Wizard ( https://www.nexusmods.com/stardewvalley/mods/1940 ) with the Shane from this mod ( https://www.nexusmods.com/stardewvalley/mods/97 ) and this Abigail and Emily ( https://www.nexusmods.com/stardewvalley/mods/965 ). As for my buildings, I have this lovely mod ( https://www.nexusmods.com/stardewvalley/mods/419 ). Mind you, those are just my personal preferences; you may like any, or none, of those options, but there's plenty of others out there. And again, most aesthetic mods are entirely functional, provided your SMAPI and Content Patcher files are up to date. All of these work just fine for me, and I'm up to date on the beta. Many of these mods are years old, too, and haven't really been updated - but .xnb mod files don't tend to get outdated easily, or need much in the way of patches. (If any of these mods requires replacing your .xnb files rather than working through Content Patcher, remember to back up your vanilla files before overwriting them in case you want to switch back later.) Ultimately, you probably haven't gotten many responses because your question is extremely vague, and what kind of aesthetic mods you'd even LIKE is a very subjective thing. Maybe the mods I linked you will give you some places to start looking, though.
  6. So I'm not really a modder, per se, nor am I looking to make any mods of my own; I genuinely don't know the first thing about modding. But I like mods that tweak the dialogue of certain characters, the bachelors in particular. The problem, of course, is that you can only use one at a time. So naturally, I'd like to be able to compare the dialogue between mod files to determine which one is closest to what I want. It'd be even nicer to tweak the dialogue for my own personal use; some of the dialogue mods I have now include things like, say, pet names, that are way too cutesy or silly for my taste. The problem is that I don't know of any good way to get into .xnb files without using Wine, which I'm...really not too experienced with. I've looked into tutorials, but most seem to be geared towards people who really know modding and are looking to do way more complicated things with .xnb files than just wanting to get in and read/edit a text file. And, of course, using a Mac adds an unfortunate extra layer of complexity. Is there any relatively simple way I can do what I want to do, or do I have to just put up or shut up here? It just feels like the amount of programs, file navigation, and tech savvy required are pretty daunting considering how little I'm actually trying to DO.
  7. I think I might have found it! https://www.nexusmods.com/stardewvalley/mods/163
  8. Hm...well, I haven't tested regular Saturdays with Sebastian yet, save for the one I married him on. (I'm still that early into the marriage.) Possibly he DOES still go, and he just didn't go on the Saturday I married him because it was our wedding day? Although I assumed, checking the wiki, that since it doesn't mention he goes anywhere in particular on Saturdays, that it meant he just hangs around at your farmhouse. But maybe that was meant to indicate that his Saturday schedule when married is the same as his non-married Saturday schedule...? If that's the case, then I owe you a big apology for wasting your time...but I'll have to check on the next Saturday and then get back to you. :|a That said, I already put Jojamart out of business, so it would be the library that has to do without Sam's services for the day if you switched it to Mondays. That might actually work out...especially since Pam and Penny have a nice house now. Which I paid for. I'm sure they can spare Sam a room... But yeah, before I ask you to do anything else, I'm going to make sure I haven't wasted your time with this request. If I have, deepest apologies in advance! (And a lesson learned on my end about assuming I know what the wiki means.)
  9. Thanks so much for the mod! I guess it will interfere with Sam and Sebastian going to the bar on Fridays, but it's still amazing you whipped this up for me! Though I am curious - what do you mean re: not being able to find Sebastian's marriage schedule for Saturdays?
  10. Yeah, sorry - there aren't actually that many hairstyle mods I could find, and that seemed like the closest one to what you're describing. If you can't find it here on Nexus, check on the Chucklefish forums for Stardew Valley mods - a lot of older mods are over there, but I didn't see any that seemed to fit your description...but it's entirely possible I've just got the visual wrong.
  11. Ah, yes, I can provide that! I can actually provide the day in which my character marries Sebastian...which is, conveniently enough, a Saturday. Here it is:
  12. I really like Sam and Sebastian's friendship, and frankly, I think it's a little sad that after marriage they don't spend Saturdays hanging out together anymore. Would anyone be able to whip up a mod where Sebastian still spends Saturdays with Sam? It could be all but identical to his non-married Saturday schedule, just with his departing from and going back to your farm instead of Robin's house. I realize this is a very esoteric, niche request that probably only appeals to me, and I'd make it for my own personal use if I knew anything about modding. But since I don't, all I can hope is that it's a really easy request and a very generous modder will be willing and able to whip something up for me.
  13. https://www.nexusmods.com/stardewvalley/mods/91 Is this it, by any chance?
  14. One really useful resource I've found is this page: https://stardewvalleywiki.com/Modding:SMAPI_compatibility#SMAPI_mods It will tell you what mods are compatible to the most recent version of the multiplayer beta. (If you're not using the beta, there's a link at the top of the page for the most current non-beta version.) It will tell you what mods are up to date and what mods aren't - and, what's more, it often links to unofficial updates made to open-source mods, when the mods themselves haven't been (and may never be) updated. I tested the unofficial update to the Extended Fridge mod (found here: https://community.playstarbound.com/attachments/expandedfridge-1-2-9-unofficial-1-f4ith-zip.201705 ) and it was working just fine as of yesterday. But as you'll see from the mod compatibility list, both of the mods listed that expand fridge space are broken in their official versions...although they have non-official versions up and running. I hope that helps!
  15. So there's a mod called Portraiture that lets you switch, in-game, between various portrait mods, rather than having to manually go into your mod files and swap stuff around in there. I'm hoping if this is possible for portrait mods, it'd be possible with other types of mods. I was thinking in particular of mods to switch the visuals of your horse; I would hope that this wouldn't be any more logistically complicated than Portraiture is for switching portrait mods. Other potential applications would be for mods that switch the appearance of your children - it'd be especially useful for mods that change the appearance of your kids to fit your spouse, since all different spouse variants modify the same file so you can only have one active at a time. If you're switching between save files where you've married different people, that would require you to go in and swap your mods manually every time. It'd also be useful - although I admit I don't know how feasible it is - to swap between dialogue mods. For instance, a number of mods change the things that the marriage candidates say, but they often can't be used together - which runs into the same issue as the spouse-specific children mods, where you'd have to swap your mods over manually every time you change save files. I'm not sure how much different/more complex it'd be to do this for dialogue files, though. Would there be any way to make mods like this?
