  1. Did you ever find a solution? I've all of a sudden got exact same problem. A pity no one bothered their arse to reply to you in the forums.
  2. Is it just me, or is there no link to this GOG webpage?
  3. What on earth is a Gleam widget for those of us over 18 years old?
  4. I think it's pretty bloody awful, actually. But hey ho, I 'm a very mature gamer, so my old fashioned sense of visual appeal I daresay is not what the snappy youngsters want a site to look like. I do suspect, however, there was an itch to make a change for the sake of change. The old site, as has been mentioned already in comments, you could take in fairly swiftly..... everything.....this new one you cannot...you have to search around. Never a good sign. I predict this will actually 'age' far quicker than the old one.
  5. Use Mod Organizer? I could not do without it, warts and all. The earlier versions were fantastic and, for me, worked seamlessly.....the later 'improved, updated' versions alas caused me a fair few problems....not being able to endorse mods, mod authors thinking I hadn't downloaded their mods when I had, glitches and pain with some mods whose authors were not exactly holding back in their opinion of MO, etc, etc. But. It had profiles.....wondrous things!...which, initially, Nexus Mod Manager did not, and profiles simply made Skyrim move up another level for me to play, I could have a Nord warrior, A Lich, A Vampire, a female mage, etc etc. Different mods for each, and back ups, and the vanilla game kept fairly clean. I have high hopes for the 'next generation' version which has been in development for some time, now, and will be part of Nexus. It has a lot to live up to, though, so i am keeping my fingers crossed.
  6. I can see both sides of the argument. However, whilst it could be argued some of the fantastic mods should receive a payment, I cannot but help feel a trickle will result in the dam bursting; PC gamers are now in the greedy sights of console companies and game developer teams making no money from some of the fantastic PC mods. They wish all that to change, and like many bad things, it starts off in very small steps, insidious, so as not to make big alarming waves and draw people's attention to what is really happening if it were all done in a big push. Personally, I had misgivings when - as a very mature newcomer to gaming - , I bought my first game, skyrim, and was puzzled why a game I bought in a game shop, developed by a software company bethesda, necessitated internet connecting to this other 'Steam' company to facilitate validity and what not. I could see what was going to happen, sooner or later. The current furore has, of course, been anticipated by Steam or Valve et al, and is why it will be phased in in small steps, with reassuring messages each step. Only we are not that stupid, are we? :O) Consequently, while I can fully understand Dark One's position re. revenue, I am reassured he is fully aware of the importance of both free modding and some mod authors entitlement to some revenue for their efforts and skills. It is the balance, that will be the critical factor, methinks.
  7. I bought the legendary edition. It's great. One thing I don't understand fully is this. How is a software developed by a company, in this case Bethesda, only available through Steam? I bought Skyrim as my very first game for a computer, at a game shop, and being somewhat on the mature side of 50, this was all a whole new world to me. I was at first alarmed I had to connect to this Steam, after I had installed the discs and let the game load, etc. However, it all seems to work well, and I even bought another three games in the Steam sales. Why, though, is Steam necessary to play a game I bought at a proper shop for gaming and how does Steam have this monopoly?
