  1. Thank you for the reply. I was hoping to avoid HGEC, Robert's or any other of the "main" body replacers in favor of something simple, that doesn't come with neck seams (or that requires Blockhead or any number of other complicated modding solutions to eliminate the same), and that looks pretty much identical to vanilla. But that might be the best available option. Or, you know, I'll just live with the characters having bolted on underwear :)
  2. We never got to complete the plan for WEPON (Weapon Expansion Pack for Oblivion Nthusiasts). Are there any weapon or armor artists out there interested in working on it? The plan involves adding up to 3 entirely lore-friendly new sets of weapons and armor to the game - Stalhrim, Adamantium, and at least one that blends elements of Amber, Madness and Daedric together.
  3. So, this is a bit of an odd question and I am not sure if it belongs in Detectives since I am not sure such a mod exists. But figured it worth asking. I am a realism buff, which means that I prefer games that are intended to look realistic, Oblivion among them, to look as much like they would in the real world as you can get from a game featuring talking biped cats and magic. To that end, I like the Melaenie mod (the one that removes the welded on female tops and does absolutely nothing else, aka the mod famous for getting the ERSB to rerate Oblivion as mature). The mod is especially nice in that the vanilla models look realistic, ie fairly plain or at least nothing special, underneath. I would like to do the same thing with the bottoms, male and female, despite the fact vanilla models do not actually have anything underneath. To be clear, I do not like the body replacers I am aware of because (1) they make pretty much every character, including geriatrics, look like porn stars, and (2) doing so breaks neck seams - and I do not care enough about fixing neck seams to go to the trouble to try to fix them. Is there a replacer style mod out there that tries to do this and absolutely nothing more, or if not, is there one that is very close to vanilla models and focuses on realism over eye candy? Thanks in advance.
  4. Yep, fortunately! This is (I think) the fourth time I have installed it, going through all the steps with BOSS and Wrye Bash and everything else, so I think I have it almost down to an art form by now. Still, this one was tough to track down; I must not have used the Kit last time, or I used an older version of PyFFI that didn’t have issues.
  5. I finally figured it out. The problem was not TES4LODGen at all. Instead, it was because I had used the "PyFFI Optimization Kit" prior to running TES4LODGen. The Kit had created bad _far meshes, which TES4LODGen then tried to incorporate into the game. During research I also learned that the PyFFI Optimization Kit is out of date; PyFFI itself comes with better scripts for Oblivion. I ran those scripts instead, and now everything works perefctly! I placed a warning on the PyFFI Optimization Kit Forum based on this.
  6. Pretty standard, I think. I'm not using ENB or any kind of extender; I just have HDR with Very High settings enabled, with a few tweaks to the config file (for example, to increase the maximum preload limit). I also have several OBSE plugins running including Stutter Remover, NVAC (New Vegas Anti Crash, which also works on Oblivion), Engine Bug Fixes, etc. Default Nvidia settings. I could try regenerating the DistantLOD files while the default Config file is in place, with or without HDR, but I think I tried that already and it didn't help. I can't remember honestly; I tried several things...
  7. In a previous post I mentioned how I was seeing consistent crashes on a new laptop as soon as I exited the tutorial dungeon (and indeed, even if I used the console to go to any exterior cell, in Tamriel or Shivering Isles). I thought this was due to a corrupt PyFFI'd Oblivion - Meshes file. But that isn't the case. I finally have discovered that the LOD files created by TES4LODGen are causing the crashes. As soon as I delete the DistantLOD folder it generates, the game is completely stable. If I leave even a single LOD file in that folder, I get crashes again. I thought this might be due to my simultaneous use of TES4LL (to generate meshes and textures for LOD), or LandMagic (to fix land tears). So I tried turning both off and rerunning TES4LODGen. Same result. I also had the same result whether I used the version of TES4LODGen x86 available on this site, or the latest version (4.0.3 x64) from GitHub. I've tried Conscribe, Message Logger, and Crash Logger to see what's going on - but none of them report anything. I'm not using RAEVWD or any kind of LOD-heavy mod, either...so maybe I'm better off just forgetting about generating LOD files. Has anyone else run into this? I saw several reports of similar issues in the TES4LODGen thread, and via Google, but never any answers. (And yes, I posted in that thread as well.) The only other idea I have is to try disabling mods...but that defeats the purpose.
  8. Thanks for your reply. TES4LL is one of the tools I used to generate new LOD files, so that was not the issue. I have confirmed it does appear to be due to a critical file damaged in Oblivion - Meshes. I managed to reextract the file from my DVD, plug it in, and voila...no more crashes. So I'll need to rebuild that file from vanilla, SI, the DLCs, and the unofficial patches. Still better than reinstalling from scratch though!
  9. I suspect there must be something wrong with one of the meshes in the Oblivion - Meshes BSA. Perfhaps I damaged a NIF file when I ran everything through PyFFI. I can think of no other reason why turning on LOD would always lead to a crash, even when I only load the vanilla mods with the default configuration settings and no generated LOD or other loose files. Would anyone be willing to send a copy of the vanilla (unaltered) Landscape and Trees folders (and anything else that might be relevant) from this BSA? I'd prefer to avoid having to completely reinstall just to source a handful of files. It took me days to get everything set up. But, I know asking for this is dicey, so if I have to reinstall, so be it. I'm also open to suggestions on anything else it might be. I tried Conscribe, Crash Logger and Message Logger (all OBSE plugins), as well as the Windows Event Viewer...none of them gave any relevant info.
  10. I finally replaced my 12-year-old laptop and am trying to get Oblivion installed on the new one. Made it through the tutorial dungeon just fine, but I am getting crashes 100% of the time during the load prior to sewer exit...UNLESS I first toggle off LOD using the TLL console command. Then the outside loads fine. It then crashes again, once I'm outside, if I use TLL to turn it back on, after the trees have loaded but before the land does. I am an expert at modding (having built several of my own); I am familiar with and use BOSS, TES4Edit, Wrye Bash, TES4LodGen, TES4LL, LandMagic, PyFFI, Ordenador, and BSAOpt. My copy of Oblivion also has the 4GB patch. Unfortunately, I've tried both the generated LOD (LandMagic + TES4LodGen + TES4LL, in that order), and the vanilla LOD (post-PyFFI and Ordenador), and neither work. I've also tried shutting off every mod and resetting to the default config file...that also didn't work. And I've checked to see if there are any LOD file conflicts in my other BSAs...nothing. So I'm stumped. Is it possible that I damaged the vanilla LOD files with PyFFI or Ordenador or something? I don't understand why both the vanilla and heavily modded loads are crashing. Help is appreciated... Active Mod Files:
  11. The werewolves mod I posted from another author generated some interest in seeing male/female diversification of vanilla animals and creatures: male and female rats, dogs and wolves, bears, orcs, minotaurs, you name it, each with slightly different stats and behaviors. Emphasis on realism (i.e. "exactly what you would see in reali life, uncensored"). I can do the ESP work myself but without differentiating models and textures, there isn't much point. And yes, I am aware that some of these may already exist, such as female minotaurs. Anyone interested in working on something like this?
  12. Use the Engine Bug Fixes mod. Any time the map blanks out, if you exit then go back in, the map will appear again. Thanks to that mod.
  13. After years of playing Oblivion, I figure I should try Skyrim for the first time. It looks like the Special Edition is the way to go - new engine etc. - but I donât currently use Steam. Is there any (legal!) way outside of Steam to get it? Or should I go with Legendary Edition instead?
  14. So, I've owned and played Oblivion off and on for nearly a decade now. Decided it's time to finally try Skyrim, for the first time. Figure I might as well get the Special Edition while I'm at it. Here's my question: is there any way to get the Special Edition on PC, other than through Steam? I only see the Legendary Edition on Amazon.
  15. The reference is clearly from âLorenâ, a mod I know nothing about. I would suggest loading it in TES4Edit and searching for the reference there. You can also use the app to scan for errors in the mod (like persistent references without parents) or dirty edits.
