  1. Today I started the game up, and immediately noticed that some textures (mostly walls, but I think I've seen it happen on a shield as well) have an intermittent weird wavy effect. It happens for about a second or two every 5-6 seconds. I made a video to explain it better: http://youtu.be/hCdz465FXbo It had never done this before. I played the game for hours yesterday evening (ok, ok, yesterday night) and it worked perfectly. I added or modified not a thing since then, to the game or to the computer. I tried rebooting to no effect. I'm using the latest patch. I do have Skyrim HD (full), but I always have, and it didn't do this before. I can't play it like this, whenever the textures go all wavy it's very noticeable and annoying. Any idea on how to fix it?
  2. Can someone do a mod that'll let the player see what soul is inside soul gems while recharging an item? Right now I can see the gem, but I can't see what it's loaded with. Thanks :)
  3. I ended up using Leveling destruction perks, which also fixes dual casting. To that, I added Multiple summons, which while not a destruction mod certainly makes magic in general more useful. With two scaling perks and one fire amplifier perk I now feel like I'm actually hurting my enemies instead of barely scratching their healthbars, and I have enough magicka to summon two flame atronachs simultaneously. In short, I can now kick a decent amount of ass and I'm satisfied. My bladed weapons are seeing a lot less use, which also satisfies me. Unbalanced? Perhaps, but I have still gotten killed once or twice after I applied the mod, so using magic with this mod installed is not an instant "I win" button.
  4. I feel that such mods are half-baked as the situation is today. Midas Magic itself has bugs - I don't feel safe using a mod whose install instructions include "remember to set save-on-travel off". Not the modders' fault, obviously, because they're using tools hacked and reverse-engineered from previous games, but I'll wait for the whole modding scene to get out of alpha, so to speak, before I use mods that alter the game drastically. Anyone? What destruction mods are you people using (surely I'm not the only one who's unsatisfied with that magic tree)?
  5. I noticed Midas Magic because I enjoyed it immensely in Oblivion, but I'd rather wait until the CK comes out to use mods that add stuff. Besides, I don't really need any more spells right now, I'd be perfectly content with using the ones in the game... if they worked properly.
  6. I'm disappointed at the lack of power of the destruction tree. As a destructive elf mage I try to use magic to deal damage whenever possible, but after the first two or three enemies are dead I invariably find myself pulling out the swords, battleaxes and whatnot. It's gotten to the point where I either use magic as a backup to blades when it should be the other way around, or as a way to avoid dying while I clobber people to death - a playstile much more suited to a warrior than a mage, and one I don't enjoy very much or I'd be playing that instead. I've seen several destruction rebalancing mods, but I don't have the patience (or the time) to try them all and figure which is the best one. I've been leaning toward installing XSO and commenting out every other tweak, but it seems to be unsupported nowadays, which worries me because I don't want the next patch to break everything. What do you suggest?
  7. I don't mind the combat music or the chirping, but the CONSTANT whirring noise of ED-E as it follows me around is driving me insane. Can he be made silent without also silencing the other robots (as I presume would happen if one were to change the wav file of the whirring noise to something else)? Thanks.
  8. It doesn't, actually - I've been selecting them with the hotkeys but the ammo keeps changing. However, upon further testing, actually firing a gun after ammo is changed possibly makes it remember its ammo. Not too sure though, I'll test this some more. Edit: nah, it doesn't. It seems to be completely random - now my silenced pistol remembers its ammo, but the shotgun doesn't. *cries*
  9. Whenever I select a weapon it's always loaded with good ammo, even if I just loaded it with surplus two seconds ago and then switched to something else. This is very annoying: there are many situations when I'd like to save up better ammo and shoot the inferior stuff, but either through forgetfulness or lack of time (reloading the 357 every time you take it out might not be feasible in the middle of a firefight) I don't. Edit: ok, now the game is spatzing out... now the 357 does remember the ammo, but the other weapons don't. What the...
  10. I was looking for something like this, thanks. Just one more thing - can the mod be changed so that *no* friendly fire effects *at all* happen? Knockdown and such, I mean. Thanks.
  11. Many thanks, that's indeed the mod for the singlehanded swords. Going from that, I was able to find the original two-handed sword. Thanks again :)
  12. During my first playthrough (I think it was two years ago), I downloaded a mod for a sword that was seven shades of awesome. The sword's parts are held together by magic (presumably), so it makes for a perfect battlemage weapon. I sadly don't have a screenshot of the sword in full view, but I do have this screenshot that I took to show off its stats. A few parts of the sword are visible in the background, and you can see the hilt clearly. I remember there was a companion mod of two singlehanded swords that were very similar, but rather than the little white ball and ring that the two-handed one has in the centre, they had a blue or a red sphere. I can't for the life of me remember how the sword was called (the one in the screenshot is enchanted and I changed its name). If you can find the mod for me I'd be grateful :)
  13. I'd like it if someone could make a model replacer that replaces the model for the Blackhawk and Callahan's magnum with the Dan Wesson PPC revolver scoped, while leaving the normal scoped 44s as they are. The reason: I love the model, but the weapon as coded in the mod is too weak, and I don't like it that it uses special ammo. At the same time, I find the models for the special revolvers too plain. I tried doing this myself, but the Geck somehow choked on it (see here). Thanks :)
  14. No errors, I just get Win7's popup that "the application has ceased to work blah blah". Tried opening it in nifskope, no errors that I can see.
