  1. Tried downloading the Stirk 1.3 mod last night from the US premium server, and got the message that it only just been added, and that I should check back in 30-60 minutes. Same message, several times later that night--and this morning, too. Then I went to one of the standard US servers, and had no problem downloading it at once. Went back to the US premium server, and still got the 30-60 minutes message.

EDIT: Same thing just occurred with the new Vampire Hunting ESP.

  2. I'd also suggest looking at MMM, not only does it add several types of human encounters, it also adds more creatures/monsters.

Definitely MMM. I use both Fran's and MMM, and if you want a larger number of encounters with more diverse attackers, MMM is better suited to your needs. I'll never forget the change when I first tried it--how a trip out of town became more eventful, with two attacks, one involving orc raiders, an orc shaman, and a sorceress who was attacking both them, and my character. Then the sorc conjured up a pet, and all merry hell broke loose. :)

Very configurable, too. Definitely worth a shot.

  3. That shouldn't be much of a case should it? Aren't most mods cleaned already?

Many aren't, surprisingly. There are mods out there that have over 200 "dirty" entries, though most have considerably less. These don't typically have any impact on the game, though the more dirty mods you have running, the more chance there is of a crash.

If you've some interest in this, consider checking the TES4Edit Cleaning thread. complete with list of mods that need cleaning, and why. :)

Though there are far more likely reasons for a crash at game start or during gameplay, such as incompatible mods, mods that put too great a strain on an individual system, merged mods that shouldn't be merged, mods lacking a required mod to run, etc.

  4. No, as I've never used the mod. Try early in your lineup, for example, but if you need the patch, be sure that's placed after the two mods it affects.

I just checked out the comments section on the mod wall, and there are at least a few by people who couldn't get it to work. It doesn't appear to be in development any longer. A few dirty edits, but nothing major. Author was JOG, one of the better quest/city builders among Morrowind/Oblivion modders.

  5. Again, it may not have been the mod, but its location in your mod list, and possibly an interaction with other mods.

If you're positive it's the mod, try contacting the creator through their page to see if anyone else has requested a bugifx.

  6. Yes, tried scanning for dirty edits, it found 28 udr's which I have no idea how to fix.

Wrye Bash isn't a tool for finding dirty edits. It does a lot of things, but that's not one of them. It can let you easily change your loading order, see if you're missing parent mods necessary to run other mods, etc.

  7. It might be a Win7 issue, then. I'm using WinXP myself, but there have been several people who have experienced missing files/folders due to the way Win7 accesses and hides these. It's probably useful information you should have included at the top of your request.

I'll ask again: are you using Wrye Bash? Because changing load order and seeing relationships between files is a snap using it.

  8. Does the game work if you start it from the OBSE Launcher?

One other point: are those 3 mods after your Bashed Patch there because you BOSS'd your order, and they were placed at the end? If BOSS sticks mods after your Bashed Patch, it's not because they belong there. It's because BOSS doesn't know where they should go, and is telling you in effect to find appropriate places for them.

  9. Which problem is it?

I don't know what I did, I really didn't do anything. For some reason Oblivion refuses to run when IDKRRR_C_race.esp(Corean race) is active.

    or

Ok, it's not just that. I ticked a new quest mod and it refuses to run with that. It doesn't even require anything but the patch.

    or

I deactivate GrabLifeNPC_OBSE and activate Geekchan's Hooves, the game runs. It runs the other way around. But it refuses to run when I have both, as if I have 1 mod too many.

With the best of intentions, it's kind of hard to help out if you can't name a specific problem.

  10. Thanks for the info dude!

Although I did try the defrag, to no avail. I managed to find the gamesaves (hidden in Win7) and moved the gamesave folder over to the main MW file but that hasn't worked either

Had you mentioned that you were running Win7, that would have saved some time. ;) There are quite a number of issues surrounding how Win7 deals with files. Try changing your thread title (if you can) to include mention of Win7, or search on that in these forums. I think you'll be surprised with how many hits you get.

  11. Perhaps it would be better not to criticize someone else's choices in game preferences. If history tells us anything, it's that people show a remarkable disregard for the fact that each of us is absolutely correct in our opinions, and that everyone else is absolutely wrong.
  12. The button shows 'LOG OUT' with no lines, only underlines the words when moving the mouse over it.

I'm not saying what your browser shows. I'm saying what my browser shows--and it's a bit of a mess on that one word. That's why it's my report, not yours. ;)

Also Firefox 4 is a major change compared to your 3.6. - you might as well be using Internet Explorer 8

Not really in terms of the features I generally need and use, but thanks for your interest.

  13. Huh? I have one button - 'Log out' on the Nexus...

And it was Logout I wrote about.

also Firefox is now 6.0 - maybe time to upgrade.

Or not. Firefox has simply started giving new major version increases while making small incremental changes, to counter what they see as the same way Google Chrome development operates.

  14. And here I always thought that this forum was primarily about mods...

For a few games. Like you, I greatly enjoy BG2 and PS:T, for example, but you won't find any mods for either title, here. Owner's privilege. He pays the bills, he chooses the games.

  15. Overall, I like the new look. I note, though, that the Logout Network button (it is one button, isn't it?) has text on two lines that run over one another. Everything else appears properly proportioned in relationship to everything else. (I'm using Firefox 3.6.20.)
  16. I don't mean to be mean about it, but there really is no substitute for fully reading every readme/manual that comes with a mod, and following its instructions to the letter. You may want to check the long descriptions on TES Nexus as well, and keep an eye out for negative ratings--click on the number to read why. It doesn't necessarily mean that the mod is bad. It may just mean that there are conditions in which it doesn't function properly. It helps to know these in advance.

As noted above, you have the reduced and increased spawn rate child mods for MMM in your lineup. Plus the decreased ones are after your Bashed Patch. I'm betting BOSS put them there, right? But when BOSS drops mods there, it's because it doesn't know where they should go, and it's leaving their placement up to you. Now, choose either the increased spawns, the decreased spawns, or the very decreased spawns--just one, not all three. And put it among the MMM set you've got.

As for the naked guys, it does sound as though you installed the naked version of one of the male body mods. Take a look at its archive, read the readme, and see how you can install the underwear version.

Deadly Reflex 6: this is a beta. Again, it's in the readme, or on the mod's site.

  17. If you're going to make major changes in your load order, you'll want to click on a saved game under your Wrye Bash saves tab, then click Save on the right under the box listing all your mods. In theory at least this should reconcile the save with your current modlist as loaded through Wrye Bash, but if you change enough, things can break.

And OBGE can break a ton of things on its own. Not within the app itself, but because so much has to be done to make it work properly.

Finally, avoid using quicksaves and autosaves. Those are known to corrupt saved games over time. Save often, but use regular saves.

  18. Speaking of mannequin pedestals...is there an in-game mod for placing pedestals for the mannequin mods? I looked for such a while back and didn't notice one on the nexus....

    Nothing like that.

...Makes one what to rip thru Reznod's scripts to build such a mod (with Rez's blessing). Of course you can use item codes and the placement altar mod.

I tried contacting Reznod repeatedly while working on my Skin-toned Mannequins, but never got a response. But you could always borrow from something like Armory Lab 4 or 5, taking the elements you wanted and adding them to your house.

  19. Oblivion can use up to 2.5 GB RAM. It requires at least 512 MB RAM, but can keep very little in memory, if that's all you have--movement will be extremely slow between loading zones. There are players who believe it benefits from more RAM on a 64-bit system, but many remain skeptical.

If you run mods, you will want to have 2 GB RAM.

  20. Well, what do I do for quests that involve those NPCs? If I can't save after I spawn them at me, how will I be able to go to them and do the quest?

Ok, the idea of the game is to find the NPC that is part of the quest, not to have them placed or teleported to you -- you may break other quests by doing that. So play the game; make the quest your active quest and follow the quest marker; look on UESP, as most NPCs have schedules. One travels all over Tamriel, for instance. Have fun.

By quest, I mean that I have a mod that makes her sell paintings, and I need to find her so I can get the painting. o_O

So check her schedule, as I suggested. She wanders all over the place at different times.

Unlike Morrowind, Solarfire, NPCs in Oblivion can sometimes wander far and wide. And their schedules may change for different days of the week.

  21. I have the official and unofficial path and latest shivering isles thing too. The thing with corrupted saves is that all of a sudden ALL previous saves of the character are not working...it's not just that one save. I do have wrye bash.

Did you change anything in your mod lineup (or background mod utilities, like upgrade OBSE), right before this started to happen? Add or remove anything? Every mod in Wrye Bash shows up green?

As you've got Wrye Bash, try syncing your current modlist with the latest saved game of the character that won't load.
