  1. The black screen fix is the first .esp that is loaded in OBMM.

     

    When you write "first," do you mean at the top of OBMM, or at the bottom? Because the mods at the bottom are the ones that have the "most privileged" position. They load last, and overwrite anything on the same subject that comes before.

  2. There is (I believe) a version of MMM for Frans (or vice-versa) that will cut down this problem.

     

    Yes, there's an option in the MMM omod for installing it with a "normal" number of spawn points in the wilderness, greater, far greater, less, or far less. I've chosen the normal amount (the formula isn't provided), and find that there are road incidents, but nothing I can't handle with a companion. Since I also run some of the traveler mods, I sometimes come upon battles in progress: guards or small groups of walkers attacking a giant and wolves, or perhaps a couple of trolls, or an equal-sized number of bandits.

     

    I would suggest that if you're experiencing too many bandits, Chaospearl, deactivate MMM and reactivate it, selecting the lowest of the five setting for spawn pawns.

  3. Hi. I'm looking for a mod that I once downloaded (forgot the name; and reinstalled windows so its gone) It was one where you could disguise yourself by dressing in certain kinds of armor and trick people into thinking you were a guard, etc.

     

    Also, is there any mod that allows you to fight on horseback?

     

    (quick question, do quest award levellers work well?) and lastly, a good texture replacer to make the game more immersive; thanks:)

  4. I tried creating an OMOD, clicked Add Folder, then selected the meshes folder of qtp3, then the textures folder. Do I need to do add archive or something or put them both in a data folder and then add folder? I just did meshes then textures and tried creating. It didn't work. It activated but showed no improvement at all.

     

    You don't need to select anything: all things are selected for you in advance. If you choose among them, you're actually eliminating several necessary to run your program.

     

    Click create. Click on the omod file you want to load. Wait a few seconds, and OBMM will probably tell you that it sees a file structure. In any case, just click Create OM. The mod should show up as bben46 pointed out, with a green dot to the left of it. Then you click on the mod, and click Activate.

  5. Not trying to discourage you, but why re-invent the wheel? Instead of focusing on re-creating work which has already been done, and most people like, why not focus on new content that you don't need 10-20 skilled persons to make? You know... Something more in line with what talents you have, even if it means joining some other project until you can broaden/improve those talents.

     

    Not to mention, if you're serious, rather than a "let's fake it to get replies troll," we won't see you surface again for at least 5 years.

  6. As long as they're self-contained, don't add any races, items, exteriors, interiors, or NPCs you've already seen within a game, there shouldn't be any major problem. Just make sure you don't save over a game made before merging, and that you disable the individual mods after merging.

     

    Thanks. Merging has its hazards if one isn't careful, which is why I asked. I figure one more merge after this, that are not likely to be improved, such as Daggerfall Books, Chase Camera, Guild Ownership, Cities Alive at Night, etc. Not sure about these, but I have quite a few, and as there aren't any dependencies...

     

    Well, I won't say "I don't see what could go wrong," because that's practically sticking a large blinking neon sign above my head saying STRIKE HERE. But we'll see. :)

  7. I never knew that omods do not count towards the limit. That's very nice. I'm not quite sure I understand, though... when I activate an omod in OBMM, it asks all its setup questions and then adds the appropriate esp files to my list. Those esp files don't count towards the limit? How does it know which esp's are part of an omod and which I added manually? Or is it more that some omods don't create an esp file at all, and I just happen to be using omods that add esp's because they include so many options?

     

    Some omods do add an ESP, and these will of course count to your limit. Others don't. They are simply managed through OBMM, and make placement of textures, meshes, etc, more organized and handled easier.

    I haven't entered any, yet. I've cleaned each with TES4Edit. As the title says, could I merge their ESPs (using TES4Gecko) and play them without any problems?

Apropos of all this, we really need a good file that explains companion conduct: how they work up skills, when they equip items; when they swap weapons (assuming they do); how much they can carry; whey they'll allow the player to steal--or not; etc. There may even be a file like this around, but if so, I haven't seen one. A lot is either conjecture, or experiment. Would be nice to have something we could point inquiries to. And no, I'm not volunteering, because I've never modded a companion. Just a thought.
  10. Just a thought. It seems HGEC offers a ton of upper and lower body variants within the basic mesh system, not to mention third party variants, but Roberts supplies essentially three (that you can mix and match between upper and lower body). This is not a reflection on any mod developer; it's just a statement of the fixation we have about female eyecandy, I suppose, or at least, varying female body type.

     

    Yet I'm thinking there might be players who want to either play a character or customize a companion using a Roberts male mesh, and that some varied contours would be welcome. For example: an acrobatic type might have a very well developed upper torso but a slim, tapered lower one. A swashbuckler might mimic real-life ice skaters and ballet dancers: moderate upper torso, very muscular lower torso and butt. An Arena fighter might have virtually no neck, but be a mass of extra-muscular conditioning for the upper torso, in particular. And so it goes. Some of this could be achieved by a user through combinations of upper and lower Roberts torso sections, but not all of it. New meshes would be welcome.

     

    Just an idea, anyway.

  11. Fair warning: you're asking a large team of people to basically give up all their free time for several years, in order to remake this huge RPG. A remake has been attempted at least 5 times in the past, by my count. One actually succeeded, after 4 years: Ultima Exult, which is the same game with a new engine and a few subtle improvements.

     

    Certainly you have every right to request this, but anybody who knows the title (and I remember it fondly) will realize what a bear of an undertaking this would be. :)

  12. With TES4Edit. I'm doing it very, very selectively. To date, I've created two separate groups of merged merchant mods. At the moment, I'm wondering whether anybody with experience doing this can tell me if there will be difficulties playing a game in progress if I merge a group of single-dungeon/fort mods that my character hasn't visited?

     

    The mods in question are of this sort: Cave of Wishcraft, Gift of Kynareth, Fort Falkenshire, etc. Each has been thoroughly cleaned first with TES4Gecko.

     

    As I haven't visited them previously, and they have no dependencies, I can't see there being any problems. However...thought I'd better ask.

  13. If Athletics is Zero, that would probably keep you from running.

     

    Also, check your keyboard mapping; maybe you aren't actually telling the character to run when you think you are...

     

    I started up the Xenia companion myself two days ago, and have had no problems with her running. I have to wonder if there's a conflict present. How far towards the end of your mod loading list is she?

  14. Mighty Magick is pretty different from Supreme Magicka. Both make major changes to the power of different kinds of spells, while SM also adds some new kinds of spells. MM really ramped up the power of offensive magic, in particular. SM doesn't do that at all, and the latter also provides a very nice INI file where you can alter a lot of the changes it makes.

     

    I'd suggest avoiding MM. It had some issues causing savegame bloat on a small scale, and was eventually abandoned. SM is worth looking at, as is Less Annoying Magic Experience (LAME).

  15. Can I see the encumbrance of a companion anywhere, when I invoke Share from their dialog menu?

     

    When they have several outfits under clothing/armor, what takes precedence?

     

    I've never seen one exchange armor for leisure wear, if they have both in inventory--unlike, say, Viconia or Baddy. Should I assume they will only wear one outfit all the time?

     

    Nothing appears to be highlighted in the clothing/armor section of their inventories, as there is in the player character's to share it's being worn. Should I assume there's no way to change this for companions, so they show who's wearing what without simply looking at them?

    DarnifiedUI I believe.

     

    Not DARnified, but DarkDARnified. The "dark" part is responsible for the inverted colors, with the red background.
