Blog piece: Ads, Supporters, Endorsements and Bandwidth Throttling
Zalpha replied to Dark0ne's topic in Site Updates
I feel bad because I use AD blocker, I really can't stand how the ads change the format of the site. I also feel bad because I can't download more that 200kb/s anyway so the changes wont effect me, so it feels like I have opted not to turn off AD blocker, which I guess makes me feel okay. -
Blog Piece: Nexus plans for stability and infrastructure improvements.
Zalpha replied to Dark0ne's topic in Site Updates
I came across this yesterday and it may apply here... http://techcrunch.com/2013/01/24/league-of-legends-the-most-played-pc-game-in-the-world-runs-on-the-same-open-hardware-as-facebook/ http://www.opencompute.org/ It low cost servers, Facebook runs off of it and so does League of Legends, it may be what the Nexus needs? I don't know, I am just putting it out there. I love the Nexus sites and I would if could donate (I am poor). -
The 9001st Random CTD thread.
Zalpha replied to SovietSailor's topic in Fallout New Vegas's Mod Troubleshooting
I find the texture packs cause my game to run of memory and crash, so I would suggest easing up on the system load, try Fraps ( http://www.fraps.com/ ) to see how your PC is handling the load, if it is lower than 20 you can't really handle those mods, if its lower than 10, cut down on Hi-res textures or continue to crash after 5 minutes. -
Missing option to end dialogue
Zalpha replied to Bernt's topic in Fallout New Vegas's Mod Troubleshooting
There is a command to end dialog I am sure but I don't know it, if you do some looking for commands to do it yourself. I would consider it a dirty fix but its better than trying to figure out which mod broke it, a mod game can almost never be perfect, something is bound to brake, if its just this then its not so bad, if you could avoid encountering it it may be worth overlooking them. -
Do a stem game catche update/repair just to be safe. Run boss to see if any mods are bad or missing something... http://newvegas.nexusmods.com/mods/35999 Also when the game crashes press ctrl+shift+esc and check processes in the windows task manager, make sure the mod manager isn't running or FNV, if it is (and I am sure it is) close it by ending processes to stop the loud sound its making. This could help... http://newvegas.nexusmods.com/mods/43567

Graphics are terrible now?
Zalpha replied to sickpuppy666's topic in Fallout New Vegas's Mod Troubleshooting
I found I changed the antialiasing to off the other day and the text on the pip boy got all pixalated, turned it back on to x4 samples and it went back to normal. I rate that's what you need to switch on, or higher. Also having the latest graphic drives wouldn't hurt as well. -
Boss the program can find broken mods or incorrect load orders if you have any... http://newvegas.nexusmods.com/mods/35999 It sounds like a bad mod to me or system overload, I only encountered that problem on a mod that changed an area and the game engine couldn't catch up to load it, then it made a black hole in the map, causing problems. For me it was a mod that added lots encounters to the world, removing the mods that slowed my PC down fixed it for me. This may help you out... http://newvegas.nexusmods.com/mods/43426

FOMM Crashing on Startup
Zalpha replied to njustin's topic in Fallout New Vegas's Mod Troubleshooting
I have encountered this problem before, it usually happens after adding a mod that for some reason corrupted the manager (usually the lager mods 100mb and up), browsing to you mods locations e.g. C:\Games\FalloutNV\mods\ BAD MOD and deleting the bad mod (or the one you added last or think it may be) and then it starts up okay again. You could cut all out and see if it helps, if not I was wrong. -
You would need to get all DLC, GRA as well, all 5 of them. For FOMM, when asked to log in, don't put in your log in info, leave it blank and click next, I got stumped on that for months. It used to work until NMM came along.

Examining Containers => Crash
Zalpha replied to SirAuronous's topic in Fallout New Vegas's Mod Troubleshooting
I can suggest going over this video and adding these mods may help. I use them and my game runs fine... but the robot scorpions lazer shots lag/stutter for me in the OWB DLC when shot at by them, not sure if a bug or normal. http://newvegas.nexusmods.com/mods/43426 Maybe just watching this vid may help you out, I don't know. http://newvegas.nexusmods.com/mods/43567 I used to use a mod like this for FO3, but haven't used it for NV, it may have been built into FOOK or FWE in the past, I can't remember so well. http://newvegas.nexusmods.com/mods/36805 That's about all I can think of. Hope your game comes right, I have heard that games lag and become corrupted over time. You may be experiencing that. -

I am glad you figured it out. -
Examining Containers => Crash
Zalpha replied to SirAuronous's topic in Fallout New Vegas's Mod Troubleshooting
The only other thing I can think of is a bad mod, it sounds like maybe a bad item is generated in the box your opening? If it is any box then I don't know what it could be... perhaps a mod that edits loot like Project Nevada (Extra Options), if its nothing like that then I have no clue. The only other thing I can suggest is running BOSS to see if your load order is correct... http://newvegas.nexusmods.com/mods/35999 And then to do some mod editing with FNVEdit to correct mod conflicts. http://newvegas.nexusmods.com/mods/34703 -
Examining Containers => Crash
Zalpha replied to SirAuronous's topic in Fallout New Vegas's Mod Troubleshooting
I remember being told you must not use the the old d3d9 fix as it was made obsolete by a patch. I think that may be your problem. Try using the stutter remover instead and it should help you a lot. So remove the file and try this instead. Hopefully it comes right for you. http://newvegas.nexusmods.com/mods/34832 -
FOMM no longer works (login me in)
Zalpha replied to Zalpha's topic in Fallout New Vegas's Mod Troubleshooting
I remember it working for me in the past but I think it must of been pushed aside for the NMM, well FOMM is working in "Offline" mode now, so it's all good. -
FOMM no longer works (login me in)
Zalpha replied to Zalpha's topic in Fallout New Vegas's Mod Troubleshooting
I just found a temporary fix for this problem, when it asks for my log in details, leave it blank and log in, at least I can add my mods now. -
I have previously been using NMM for Skyrim but because I now am playing FNV I switched over to FOMM, for mods like Project Nevada that hate NMM. Now I can't login to FOMM, it crashes on Login. I don't know how to fix it, please help or point me to were I can find help.

Wait who is getting 400k post a person or the site as a whole? :confused:

I am glad to see you guys are actively working on "fixing" the update, I am sure once it's finished it will look awesome. So far a few of the new changes have grown on me and the more I see and use the features, the more I like it. Good job and keep up the good work.

Personally I don't like the look of the new design, it reminds me of a windows 95 HTML website, just the new news feeds though. I don't like how the Avaters of the poster along with some text is really high up and above the pictures of the featured content, the layout needs fixing, maybe having the Avater on the our side and mid way in, the featured content, its hard to explain. Anyway I don't think my opinion will change anything but a least you could do is "fix" it up like this. http://i45.tinypic.com/aafzb6.jpg Oh and between Tracked Flies and Friend Activity is a doted line, it makes the tab look weird and is a bit sloppy, it should be removed. I personally don't like the doted line, I think a solid line would look better. Also I think having the File News tab first would be less of a blow to those who see the new changes for the 1st time. Maybe look at changing the tab orders.
