  1. So after playing for a while in OWB, I get random (or not so random) crashes every time. It runs fine at first, but after doing some stuff I end up with the game crashing while I'm running around outside (100% CTD trigger seems to be the area West of The Sink, just walking around outside leads to CTD, but only after playing for a bit, doing a couple of the labs).

I tried everything, disabling my mods (only one I can't disable is custom Mannequin race, but I doubt that one is causing it) doesn't help, still getting the crash. Loaded an earlier save, then it worked again until after I did one of the labs, then I get the CTD in that area (and Sink too now) again.

Checked Windows Event viewer and got the Exception code: 0xc0000005 and found this thread: https://forums.nexusmods.com/index.php?/topic/6190629-random-crashes/

I tried some of the things already mentioned there like the "sfc/scannow", "Sheson patch" etc.

My error log also shows the "DEFAULT: Radio station exterior position ref '' (2104950A) is not placed in an exterior." error the OP in that thread got, so maybe that's connected?

  2. You have too many mods I know nothing about to point one out as your problem. But, based upon the position of "YUP - NPC Fixes (Base Game + All DLC).esp" in that "load order", I suspect you need to sort using LOOT.

    * You really need to use a "Merge Patch File" with that collection of mods. Please see the 'Third Rule: The Rule of One' and 'Merge Patch File' sections of the wiki "FNV General Mod Use Advice" article.

You are using a lot of texture related mods. These put an added strain on the video pipeline. Please see the wiki "Display resolution versus Image Size" article.

I noticed you have both "Kozzz_dresses(EN).esp" and "Kozzz_dresses(RU).esp" installed. It is usually not a good idea to mix two different language versions of the same plugin. Follow the 'Clean Saves' section of the wiki "FNV General Mod Use Advice" article to remove one.

Despite you obviously have been playing for awhile, I recommend anyone read the entire "FNV General Mod Use Advice" article to understand the differences between this game and others you may have experience with; especially if this is your first attempt to play a modded FNV or it's been more than a year since you last did so.

    * Be aware that one error may mask a number of other errors, which will not appear until those masking them have been resolved. Building a stable game consists of resolving each problem individually until none remain, and then realizing that every change you make thereafter (including updates to mods already installed) run the risk of introducing new problems. Be prepared to revert to a previous save if you do so.

Hey man, first of all, thanks for taking the time to reply.

I didn't even notice the duplicate plugin, cause I've been installing all mods via NMM, wasn't really using that mod anyway, so got rid of it entirely now.

I tried the Wrye Flash thing, but honestly have no idea what plugins to merge, I find that whole topic a bit confusing, used LOOT again (it was still working at the time, now for some reason LOOT can't find my NV folder anymore...), anyway, I just did the achievement by deactivating most of my mods and just getting banned from all casinos real quick and then I just activated my mods again and loaded my old save, seemed less of a hassle than troubleshooting what mod caused the error in the end...

  3. I still need the "The Courier who broke the bank" achievement, but for some reason, Casinos don't ban me... I easily made like 30k on Blackjack in Gomorra, which apparently are supposed to ban you after you win 9k, nothing happened... same at the Tops. No idea why, anyone know what could cause this? Maybe some mod I didn't know does this?

I had this Gomorra guy approach me ONCE to give me some steaks for doing well, but again, this only happened once, I didn't manage to trigger that event or the banning event again...

I also have an issue of NPCs freezing when I try to talk to them while they sleep (they get up and then keep standing frozen mid-animation and won't react to anything until I reset them by going out and back in of whatever location they are in). So maybe this is some script error?

  4. In general, the most likely reason behind a crash for some people and not others is 1) mod conflict, or 2) memory leaks. The game is known to have memory leaks, particularly in the video pipeline. But I have personally seen a similar problem with lengthy dialog sequences (in Someguy2000's "NV Bounties III" mod. There was nothing obviously wrong with his code. But I was able to get past the problems by cutting out large chunks of "monologue" and scenes that did not trigger stages. Not something recommended for the average player).

Memory leaks are virtually impossible for anyone other than a game developer with debugger tools to track down. The problem is that the "leak" writes data into memory allocated to another program, typically corrupting instructions that program relies upon. When the victim program tries to execute the corrupted instructions ... CTD. Obviously the victim is this case is FNV, but it could be sabotaging itself. (You can't tell.) The maximum possible amount of memory allocated to the game is 4GB (with the 4GB Patch; 2GB without it). Everything you load in the game (mods, plugins, meshes, and textures: especially at higher resolutions) take up some portion of that memory. That mix varies widely between different players. Then you have every other program running in the "background" of Windows as a potential source of a leak into the game memory.

All you can do is minimize as many factors as possible. Try dropping your Launcher graphics resolution setting before that scene. Shut down all possible background programs (such as AntiVirus and the Steam Overlay when running in "offline mode"). You might want to try using the tool "Memclean", which periodically (you can set the interval; default is every 15 minutes) tells the OS to perform it's built-in "clean up" of memory. It has a "mini-monitor" that displays memory usage, and you can manually trigger it. Doesn't seem to hurt and might help. Anything else you can think of to free up more memory.

    -Dubious-

    Hey, thanks.

I ended up doing it like OP, though it was a pain and took a few tries. Went in and out of the shop until one time the game just skipped that dialogue line that caused the crash... if I ever have to get past that crash again, I'll see about trying some of this though...

  5. Having exactly the same issue as OP. Fixed all my other mod related crashes before, but this scene is a 100% guaranteed CTD for some reason... did you ever find out what triggered it or how to fix it?

Only mods we're both using are MCM and Weapon Retexture Project, I don't think it's MCM and I tried deactivating WRP, still getting the same crash...

  6. If it seems to have fixed it, then it did. The keychain mod works by removing all your keys from your inventory at the point when you open up your inventory and then puts them all back when you close your inventory. It had to do this to avoid problems with quests, keys, and locked doors, but it can add some amount of time for processing to the act of opening and closing the inventory.

I've had ... uneven luck with Keychain. A couple of my characters have absolutely no problems at all. One character has a little bit of lag opening the inventory. One character crashes when trying to use it. I wish I could figure out why.

Maybe I've just got too much keys now... :D

After all it's a level 33 character with more than 90 hours played and those keys are really growing in number... such a shame, 'cause it is a good mod after all, since the keys are really annoying in the inventory... same goes for the "House-..." items btw (those furniture/room "deeds")... do I even have to keep those, or is it OK to store them somewhere? Or does that remove the stuff from my Houses? Oo

  7. The last mentioned problem, does this occur on other characters as well, or only on that character?

Either, some mod(s) is causing this, your savegame(s) are corrupted, or there's something wrong with your game copy.

    So, what you should try:

    1. Deactivate all mods, to see if the problem persists.

    2. If it doesn't, try turning on your mods one at a time. (If you have many mods, activating them, say 10 at a time should also be fine of course)

    3. If it does persist on more than one character, I recommend you reinstall your game.

Well, I've been having this problem for quite some time now, I don't think it is any of the mods. But usually it's only 3-5 seconds, up to 30 seconds only when it's getting really bad and that's usually when my laptop's performance is dropping... so I'm guessing I'll just live with it, since I don't really want to have to install everything again...

To the other problem: It still occured after I sold most of the useless stuff, but I figured it was a mod after all and after deactivating it, the problem hasn't occured so far... was the Keychain mod (http://tesnexus.com/downloads/file.php?id=3409), don't know if I did anything wrong installing it, also I've been using it for more than a week now and the problem only occured the last two days, but as I said, deactivating it seems to have fixed it... at least I hope it did...

  8.

If the problem is because you have too many items in your inventory/container/bag-of-holding/etc, then if you will wait for Oblivion to finish opening up the inventory it will work. It could take 15 or 20 minutes if you are really loaded up. I'd recommend going to a vendor and selling stuff or storing your stuff away in safe containers (your vanilla houses have them as do many mods) - just divide it up between more than one container.

Seems that was indeed the problem, finally managed to sell most of the stuff I didn't need... around 500 thousand worth of gold... lol, didn't realize I had so much garbage on me... :D

But that brings me to another problem: usually when I open a container, the game needs up to an estimated 30 seconds to show me it's contents, even if it's just a rat with rat meat on it... is that normal? Oo Or rather is that problem known and is there a fix for it maybe? I mean, I've got 4GB Ram, that should be enough... :O

  9. Have you tried turning off all your mods?

No, but in the meantime I created a new char and the problem did not occur so far... so I'm guessing it's the save maybe... I am using a weightless item mod, so could this maybe be cause by too many items in my inventory? I don't know, is there maybe a limit on how many items Oblivion can handle or something like that? Also it does not always occur, funny thing is, the best fix so far was to load some earlier saves and then load the current one again and then sometimes it worked again... I'm actually a bit puzzled by that... Oo

  10. Have been having this problem since yesterday, not always, but often the game just freezes, when I open or close my inventory. Have to hit ctrl+alt+del and use task manager to close it.

Using a lot of mods and OBSE, but never had this problem before, tried it with deactivating recently installed mods, but it didn't help either... anyone got an idea? This is really annoying, especially since I've played more than 90 hours with my char... :/

I could upload my latest save if it helps, but as I said, I'm using a lot of mods and I don't know if any of it is causing it, but since they worked well before, I don't know why they should stop doing so now... If anyone can help me, that would be much appreciated!
