  1. Well yeah I always play as the pure righteous paladin at first. When I get bored I create a second character and make him the exact opposite :P

Well, that is called a dissociative identity disorder - you're a candidate for Sheogorath. But wait. I AM Sheogorath. Or is it you? We? :wallbash:

    Heavily OT.

    You may call me Ann-Marie.

  2. I play a high elf atm, secretly working for the Thalmor to create as much chaos as possible within the Empire (Stormcloaks, Dark Brotherhood, evil daedra quests, you name it!). Only the highest in command know me, so butchering a few on the road or in the house doesn't matter much, those are the means to an end. The end being total destruction of the empire and total enslavement to the Dominion.

    Hail the Dominion!

    Kill, destruction, enslavement, domination.

Said the man, who has a big "I AM A PALADIN" signature. I am impressed.

    Haha :D

  4. Currently playing a high elf battlemage, haven't decided yet who to help, but if my char would secretly be a Thalmor spy/agent it's gonna be stormcloaks, baby! Death to ze empire!

I really liked the way Hadvar cast a suspicious eye on me when I was done creating my high elf ("You're not with the Thalmor, are you? No that wouldn't be right"). Maybe he was right ;D

  5. Should I buy this? I've been thinking about it ever since Skyrim came out and my computer sucks too much to be able to run it, but Morrowind seems like a great game!

I have some questions, if anyone could answer them for me.

    1. I've looked at UESPWiki for the Classes and armors of the game, I'm confused between which armor is good, I'm very strongly headed towards medium armor, yet heavy armor seems great too, but I can't find a class I like with HA as a major skill, any suggestions?

    2. Is this game one that has quest markers on each quest or does it just not hold your hand and set it on fire during the quest?

    3. What are your opinions overall on this game?

    4. Should I have looked up the armors, factions, quite a few quests and rewards from them, and etc or will that have spoiled the game overall?

    Thank you very much.

    1. For stealth, go light. For badass fighting, go heavy (or medium). For anything in between, go medium. Mages got robes so I left them out. The best guys with heavy armor are Orcs and Nords tho ;)

    2. It does not hold your hand at all. For example: quest tells you to find a cave west of the city of Ald'ruhn. This means the the total 180 degrees west of Ald'ruhn (north to west to south). Distance unknown. No quest marker, no nothing.

    3. I LOVE IT.

    4. A bit of pre-game info is never bad. Just read some into it and then pick your way of play :)

"You're on your own now, goodluck!" :armscrossed:

  6. From what I've read here (but not experienced myself yet) is that the ending is just as bleak as Oblivion: you kill the bad guy and nobody knows or gives a s***, which is sad :ermm:

The end of Morrowind was like: OMG ITS NEREVAR! IM A VIRGIN BUT PLEASE TAKE ME! YOU'RE THE HERO! U know? The feeling that you were THE MAN and everyone knew and loved you for it! It's just that which I'm missing in Skyrim. I'm the man who killed Jarl Ulfric. Does anyone know? Tullius does, so does Rikke. The rest? Nah, they still talk like Ulfric is alive, or they see me as a citizen. Even the goddamn legionnaires say "problem, citizen?" when I approach them.

    s*** is bleak, yo!

LOL, I think you hit on something here. For myself anyway, and that is a feeling of accomplishment. Now I haven't played Morrowind, but I have gotten as far as loading it and getting off the ship, but as soon as I saw the puppet mouth thing I busted out laughing and stopped, so I will have to mod the hell out of this before I can really get started. But, character individuality and the feeling of accomplishment, knowing that I got through the game and felt good about it are very important to me. I can refer (once again) to Origins, I felt real bad about finishing that game, but I also had a huge feeling of accomplishment. I had a similar feeling with oblivion, but as you said, no one cared, or even knew. Oh well, guess I can blend in with the crowd now, eh? A bit of a let down, but still felt good about getting through it. I felt good ending TW2, I knew I had accomplished something and felt good.

On the other hand, there is one memorable moment where I actually got mad at the end of a game, and that is Fable 2. Give me break here, I'm using as a reference only folks...you go through the whole story, and you beat the game. What happens at the end, that *itch Theresa has her little say and then says..'Be gone!'. WHAT! Are you serious! What were you people thinking? It is now collecting dust somewhere. Then there is the infamous DA2 ending...nuff said.

So I think giving the player a feeling of accomplishment has something to do with it. I don't know about to many other games, but I have to wonder if any other games leave you with a good feeling.

DA:O was epic, just epic! I felt really sad when I finished the game. My proud (once) noble dwarf tank warrior was done. Now what? Can't play a different DAO (You'll agree with me that being a 2hander warrior or dualwielder or healer or... makes you feel like part of the group, not THE hero) :(

Never played DA2, got sick and angry playing the demo because it felt DUMBED DOWN! (By the gods I do use a lot of caps when I drink beer, man!)

  7. pavy: I'm also happy to a point too and I know I've pointed out that sometimes you get completely inappropriate responses from NPC's but at other time theres some real gems too. I wouldn't consider this a spoiler but I'm playing a DB assassin and this guard out of the blue says "I know who you are, Hail Sithis", had me in sitches so I wonder is the comment system from NPC's only partially working because that example was awesome.

El'derina: Yes they don't like bad press, but who does? Amazed me how quickly they shut down complaints on their forums that takes real skill.

That guard's reaction made me cheer too, haha :D

  9. Moredhel: Is it Morrowind or is it just a tendancy to see past happy memories through rose tinted spectacles?

Funny you mention that, I heard that quite a lot :D No, I really REALLY like Morrowind, it's the best game I've ever played! When I get tired of Skyrim or any other game that's gonna come out soon (SWTOR, ME3) I'll pick it up again and start all over using no mods at all.

Ahhhh, getting Fargoth's ring, getting killed by a cliffracer on my way to Balmora, being Lord Indoril Nerevar again :D

Fargoth my you bring back the memories he was such a loon, that crazy wood elf Glarthir in Oblivion's Skingrad reminded me of him, that was a great quest. For me it was Baldur's Gate 2 that I have true RPG nostalgia for, loved that game still do, still play it to this day.

Glarthis... oh yeah, that psycho idiot! I never met him after dark tho, I was too busy doing other stuff (especially for the dark brotherhood, their addition to the game was one of the coolest things Bethesda did afaik!)

  11. or are we guilty of being spoilt for choice for years by mods hosted on sites such as Nexus?

You almost hit the mark in my opinion, apart from the bold text. I'd say we are spoiled by MORROWIND (Yes I'm a fanboy, sue me ;) ). Ok, the combat was quite simple but atleast you had a feel for your char, every char you made was different given the way you played (simply put: fighter, thief or mage and anything in between). I don't know where it started for the rest of any games, but Oblivion was the "from here we dumb down our games because else kids won't buy them because they cry it's too difficult"-point for me.

Back then: You're off the ship. Goodluck!

Now: Go here, now go there, follow that guy, hey I have an awesome weapon for you *giggle*.

Back then: Yeah there's this cave west of Ald'Ruhn, there is some guy hiding there. Find him (west being the entire area of north to south of Ald'ruhn. Distance? Unknown.)

Now: Go to this place (shown on map, with a huge arrow at it), there's a guy named X, tell him to do this or that and you're done!

I had a lot of more rant to type, but it's 2:38 (AM) here and the beer is working. I hope you know what I'm trying to get at in the stuff mentioned above ;)

  12. I really had some silly stuff going on just yet... Goldenglow Estate. Midnight. I'm an assassin. All the guards outside saw me. All the guards inside the house stood less than an inch away from me, looking me straight in the eye and said "is someone there? You can't hide from me!"

    :hurr:

  13. Yeah, sounds like my rant about the factions in an other topic. It sucks that a ME SMASH! RRHAAAAH!!!-Orc (awesome way of playing if you're used to sneaking around!) can easily become the Arch-Mage with casting so much as one lousy spell to enter the College :\

Skyrim should have had the Morrowind kind of way:

    - suck at magic? You cannot advance at the mages without training.

    - heavy armor? Tough, no thieves guild for you, friend!

    - fancy pansy spellcaster? Fighters laugh you out of the guild!

That's the best way to have individual chars, not the way it's been since Oblivion.
