  1. Hi, I keep getting the message undefined has been uploaded. when trying to upload an image after the upload progress indicator hanging for a minute or two. I've tried several times, I reoutputted the image twice from Photoshop, I've checked my internet connection through Speedtest, I've tried in Supporter Images and I've tried adding it to a mod page's images. After receiving the "undefined" message, if I try to submit the form, the sites tells me I have to upload an image first. The last image I uploaded was to regular images around eight hours ago so this is relatively new. The game is Cyberpunk 2077.
  2. My browsers seem to be all up to date, but it could be my computer; I've had problems with it within the first few months I bought it. Never again will I buy ANYTHING from Lenovo.
  3. Thank you for digging into this, much appreciated. The avif file shows up as an attachment rather than an inline image in my browser though. I downloaded it and just double-clicked on the file and Windows' native image viewer which gave the message that "The AV1 Video Extension is required to display this file" with a link to download and install it. After installing the extension, I was able to open it in the photo viewer, but it still wouldn't display inline with any of my browsers (Brave, Chrome, Opera).
  4. It seems that images are back to looking good. Thank you so much!
  5. Awesome! I have no problem with thumbnails being squashed but, at least in screenshot posts, unless someone posts additional images from outside resources, I think most people are comfortable with a single shot up to 1 mb at 1920x1080 which would be pretty generous for file size before being overkill. I do understand where you're coming from about UX though; I rarely visit this one thread at CDPR's forums because people are posting up to 10 PNG files typically ranging from 2-3 mb each; now factor in that there are 20 posts to a page. There are some great shots there, but opening a page is an exercise in patience and maybe even time management.
  6. Here's one I just uploaded where you can more easily see what's going on. Note the loss of detail, most noticeable in the hair, and artifacts in the red area and elbow. Nexus webp: Original on Imgur:
  7. No, there's nothing special about the resolution of my monitor, it's 24" 1920x1080 and I have it plugged into my laptop. It's also what I use to play the game and take the screenshots I posted. I can definitely see the differences between the images the others have posted.
  8. @UsernameWithA9 Yeah, I know I can be a bit obsessive with this kind of stuff and you're probably right that nobody else will notice anyway, but I'll still keep providing the higher quality image in the description for now. Thank you! I should clarify about Photoshop. There are two things I always do and they're about all I do the vast majority of the time and they are that I apply a very light sharpening filter and I boost the levels juuuuust a little in the blacks and whites, it's subtle but it's enough of a difference to get the image to "pop" a little more. But the real trick, if you can call it that, is to use lighting to your advantage. If you play Cyberpunk 2077 on a PC, there is a mod called Appearance Menu Mod you can use that is fantastic for setting up screenshots and 99% of the time I am using a light source from that mod; it makes all the difference in the world. Here's a shot I just took by a street light at night and have labeled it with which is what so you can see the difference and progression or decide that I'm out of my mind. The biggest change is between the original and adding the light - and it's not that bright, just enough - but if you look closely at the one that went through my Photoshop stuff, you'll notice there's just a little bit more definition overall that, in this shot, is most noticeable in the detail of the lips, eyelashes, and the white stitching on the clothes from the sharpening and the face has a bit more contrast to it a little more depth. All this adds up to get an image that, I hope, you can't tell has had all this stuff done to it but it looks as good as I can get it.
  9. Sure thing! I'm sure it's not as easy for you to pick out as they're not your images so you're not as familiar with them as I am. So, here are two sections of the one from that post with the Nexus webp image on the left and Imgur version on the right; I literally opened them full size in my browser from my post and took screenshots of the browser window and outputted them as 100% quality jpegs so you can get the most accurate look at what I am seeing, just open each image in a new window and magnify to 100% to see them full size. What I'm seeing is blurring, washed out and shifted color (most noticeable in the face) and compression artifacts (most noticeable in the second image on the toon's chest). Its face looks like mashed potatoes compared to the less compressed version and the prominence of the artifacts (look like squares) is very bad. It might just be screenshots of a video game and not an online or print article, but I still take pride in what I produce here too; I spend time setting up the poses and lights and then doing whatever I feel I need to in Photoshop to get the results I want and to have the images compressed like this... ugh.
  10. But it seems to me that the amount of compression is overdone. I understand about wanting to keep pages loading quickly, but this is excessive. I mean, Nexus is in the business of hosting files, mods and images, and the image part is falling far short. What's the point of posting an image I spent time on only to have it look like hell once it is uploaded to the web site? Here's an example where I uploaded a 377 kb 1920x1080 jpeg and Nexus crushed it down to 49 kb webp. It looks very bad. The image linked in the description is the original hosted on Imgur, originally 377 kb but 325 kb after Imgur processed it and they look the same to me, it's the Nexus webp compared to the original that looks awful. https://www.nexusmods.com/cyberpunk2077/images/103453
  11. The webp compression is either awful or Nexus is setting the amount with a very heavy hand. I upload my images as jpgs but, recently, have noticed a lot of artifacting in my uploaded images that were automatically converted to webp. As an example, a jpg I uploaded at 783 kb got smashed down to an 101 kb webp file for a 1920x1080 image; that's excessive. Is this something that came about since the recent web site changes? I didn't have problems with images until fairly recently and what is going on now kind of defeats the purpose of even bothering to upload screenshots in the first place since they end up looking like trash. My original jpg: Nexus webp:
  12. You need to set the game's Texture Quality to High, otherwise you get those lines. I don't know the details of why that happens but changing that setting should fix the problem.
