I find my mana pool runs dry fast if I don't use the appropriate gear to reduce destruction magic cost. The perk to reduce the cost by 50% for the level of the spell being cast is also invaluable.

The dragon skeletons have no weight at all. I like blasting them with a fireball across the map.

You sound like a real winner. Two handed weapons were not typically large or heavy. You need to stop watching anime. Anything over 8 lbs was impractical. 3-4 lbs was typical.
