  1. Is there a way to remove item flags with a script? As an avid 3rd person perspective player I prefer scoped weapons (with the exception of actual sniper rifles) to not switch to 1st person when aiming. A decade or so ago I created a little mod that manually removed the "Has Scope" flag from a number of scoped weapons added by other mods. Recently I've reinstalled FO3 including WMK and 20th Century Weapons, and that is a lot of weapons to go through manually. So I'd like to create a script that removes the "Has Scope" flag for all weapons that are 1-handed or automatic. Is there a simple way to do this?
  2. All right, seems the short tan robe was part of the Armamentarium for Francescos. The female version pointed to a nif which wasn't even there, and the male version pointed to the normal tan robe nif (which isn't short at all), so I guess the item wasn't meant to show up in the game at all. Thanks for the tip with the beta comment fundtion, really did help a lot!
  3. Well, I'm not even sure if the mesh is actually missing. As far as my experience goes, when a mesh is missing, shouldn't there be some happy yellow "wtf? i'm a missing mesh" star be aroundf? Because that doesn't happen; all that happens is that my upper body vanishes. It's like the item has "UpperBody" activated in the biped objects list, but no nif assigned. I tried loading all mods that could possibly have anything to do with this in the CS, then did a search for "Tan Robe, Short" but got no results. I also tried doing a text search for "Tan Robe, Short" in my data folder, no results. But I'l try loading all esps in the CS again then, if that's the only way. Maybe I missed one... And it's not my intention to cause trouble or something, it's just an unfortunate accumulation of misunderstandings, like the one right now. I don't know if something else than my apparently amendable understanding of the English language is causing this. Anyway, thanks for helping me, I really appreciate it.
  4. Those mods look really interesting, thanks a lot! I do have some CS and NifSkope knowledge, so that won't pose a problem. If you happen to know of anything else, please let me know too!
  5. I don't think things like good and evil or yin and yang exist somewhere else than in the minds of people, so I don't think they have anything to do with a perfect world either. What I'm getting at is that in a perfect world people are supposed to be happy. I don't mean they have to be in an everlasting state of complete joyfulness, but if people aren't happy, then what's the purpose of a perfect world anyway?
  6. Well the problem is not only figuring out which nif the item uses, but figuring out which mod it comes from in the first place as well. As long as I don't know the mod, I can't look at it in the CS.
  7. I agree with both posts above. There are currently over 2500 mods in the weapons and armor category, 600 of which rated as straight tens, which by the way is ridiculous and doesn't speed up the browsing process at all. I strongly support a branch-like structure, for armors and clothes this could be something like this: - ... - equippable items - - weapons - - - bows and arrows - - - blade and blunt - - - staves - - - other - - armor - - - realistic armor - - - fantasy armor - - - skimpy posing armor - - - other - - clothing - - - robes, capes and cloaks - - - normal clothes - - - lingerie and posing clothes - - - other - - compilations - - other - ... I really think about 500 mods should be the maximum for each category, with 100-200 being the ideal amount. If all those skimpy posing armors had their own category, it probably wouldn't even be necessary to keep male and female armor seperated, since those mods that aren't for posing usually have both male and female versions anyway. So something like the Armamentarium or the ACCCGR would fall into the "equ. items -> compilations" category (with the latter maybe also being listed in the "equ. items -> clothes -> robes, capes & cloaks" category), while the Pegasus Armor Set would be "equ. items -> armor -> fantasy armor" and the Battlemage Armory would be "equ. items -> armor -> skimpy posing armor". This is just a rough draft, not thought at all, but I think any branch-like structure would be a vast improvement over the current situation.
  8. I didn't know about the drop items feature at first, so when I got rewarded with the Kvatch Cuirass I had some hard troubles since I quicksaved before I realised the encumbrance and the last real save was a long way back... I think I was really pissed back then...
  9. I think calling the world of today "perfect" is a big mistake. It's understandable from a certain point of view, but it's still a mistake. People get raped as I write this, how's that supposed to be "perfect"? And even without malice, people can still die in many ways, at the most inconvenient times. Try convincing a young widow who truly loved her man that "this is the perfect world". You will most likely fail. That is why mankind invented heaven. The vision of a perfect world is what takes off some of this world's awfulness. But only in your mind, not in reality. Books usually have happy endings, so that people will like them. And when one's over, you can read another one. But you only have one life to live, and even if you don't like it, you have to bear with it. And you'll most certainly not like the end, that's in the nature of things. People long for freedom, so a perfect world would have to be free to a certain extent. But people also long for security - and the freedom of one is the insecurity of others. You can call these things "flaws" - but if one of these flaws is capable of ruining your entire life, this can hardly be called "perfect". I don't think something like a "perfect world" can possibly exist. You would not only have to change the world for that, but mankind as well. You'd have to make humans not having fun by bringing other beings pain. You'd have to remove the striving of each human to gain power over his surroundings. You'd have to make mankind incapable of fealing jealousy and hatred. You'd have to make humans perfect beings. A perfect world can't possibly exist for imperfect beings like us. And if the question is not about a perfect world for humans, but a perfect world in general - then you can just delete anything in the universe so that nothing remains but the void. Wouldn't that be true perfection?
  10. Well, the name is "Tan Robe, Short", which I didn't find in the CS. I could drop the Item and get its ID, but I'd still have to load the right mod into the CS, wouldn't I? And if I had the right mod loaded, then I could just do a search for "Tan Robe, Short" instead, couldn't I? Because I already did that with some mods, and didn't find anything.
  11. As a succesful student of mathematics, I can come to the conclusion that thy vision of browsing 2500 mods in 1800 seconds is far from being related to reality. Or, in other words: If thou indeed manageth to look through 2500 mods in 1800 seconds, then this can hardly be called browsing, since this'd require thee to spend less than 0.75 seconds on each mod, which even an unsuccessful grade schooler would be able to figure out, methinks. But alright then, Miss successful business woman; fare thee well, and may the Nine safely lead thy way around this thread of mine in the future. Or if they decide not to, I hope they at least have the grace to provide thee with the inspiration needed to write a post actually containing something to the likes of useful information and constructiveness, which thou failed to do on the last four pages, alas. --- @ Hateful_kat Some of these mods really look appealing to me, thanks a lot!
  12. Maybe you mean a different ambassador armor... I found this and that, and both are something you might wear in your bedroom, but certainly not on a battlefield. NPR's Knight Armour looks a bit skimpy, but maybe I can use parts of it, so thanks. Ancient Silver Armor looks promising, thanks for the link.
  13. @ dezdimona If you already know the category by heart then it's not "browsing". I can also read a 500 pages book in under 15 minutes if I already know it, but that's not going to give you any impression on how long it will take you to read that book, is it? I'm not calling you a liar, I'm calling you a person who fails to understand the problem. Which is not meant as an affront at all, by the way. When I was young, it took me a long time to realize that not everyone in this world has the same partialities as I. @ DesuChan Same goes for you. I appreciate the effort, but that's it. If I link you to a music video of Deep Purple, which I consider among the best music ever made but you probably won't like, will I get any "genuine thanks" for that from you? I don't think so. You say I have demanded help, but I don't see any of that. As my signature states, I'm by no means a native English speaker, so maybe my posts will give off an impression different from what I try to express with them. If that's the case I am sorry for that, but I am already trying to phrase as carefully as possible, which is probably more work for me than you would think it is. So please stop saying I'd want others to do the work for me; communicating with you is difficult enough for me even without those misunderstandings. (What are P's and T's anyway? Never heard of that phrase before.) @ Hateful_kat Thanks for that link, this is a very good compilation of armor that I don't want. @ phforNZ Uhm... I just checked out "Hentai Compilation", and it's quite what the name says. "Ambassador of Darkness" is rated adult content... No offense, but are some of you perhaps mocking me? @ BossDweebe Knightly Armor looks very interesting, thanks. Akiviri Kojima seems to be currently removed, and Tona - White Squall is too fantasy-style, if you know what I mean. But Knightly Armor really looks like... well, armor. Do you have a link for the thread where you discussed armors a week or so ago? I can't find it. --- BTW, this is a list of clothing and armor mods I'm currently using: Armamentarium.esm Francesco's Leveled Creatures-Items Mod.esm Francesco's Optional New Items Add-On.esm ArmamentariumFran.esm FemaleArmorPack1.esp RavenWearClothing.esp BlackLuster.esp StockClothingArmor-forExnems.esp Shields Of Antiquity.esp ACCCGR SI.esp Ethereal - Armor Imperial Legion Edition AR.esp Concealing_Hoods.esp Extra Robe Pack.esp TheForgottenShields.esp ArmamentariumArtifacts.esp ArmamentariumLLVendors.esp DBShadowSet_NE.esp Armory of the Silver Dragon.esp Underdark Unique Robes.esp VA_UniqueKatana1.esp ArmamentariumLL.esp kalikuts_raretradegoods2_0.esp And one last thing, which may have caused another misunderstanding: My concern is not about the "decency" of the armor, but its actual value as armor. So just because the body is covered doesn't meen it's what I'm looking for. A full body suit with wings attached isn't armor, a dress with shoulder plates isn't armor, ... I'm sorry, but I can't explain it any better than that.
  14. @ BossDweebe & SavageArtistry Compiling pieces of armors is what I've done till now. For example, Bronze Greaves & Boots (which are a retexture of the Orcish ones, don't know which mod) + Artemis Gauntlets from Apachii's Godess Store + self retextured Brown Leather Cuirass from Armamentarium (or something) gives this, while Black Luster Gauntlets & Greaves + Short Dark Elves Cuirass from Kalikut's Rare Trade Goods + Imperial Horseman Helmet gives this. It doesn't look bad, but I'd like to have something new from time to time. @ dezdimona Yes, I didn't look hard enough. Didn't I already say that in the passage you quoted? What I do not recall saying is that it was your fault. So you say you can browse the weapons and armor category in under 30 minutes, yes? Do you realize that there are about 256 pages, each of which consists of 10 mods, which leaves you with an average time for each mod of about 1 second? And do you realize that some of the mods have no preview images which requires you to read the description? Do you also realize that if you find a mod you like you need at least 5 seconds to start the download? There's ABSOLUTELY NO WAY you could browse the entire category in less than 2 hours, I say. @ jefe323 Yes, that's true for most mod categories, but when it comes to armor, chainmail lingerie and bunny suits seem to be among the most popular mods of all. @ DesuChan Yes, very sad. I'm soooo sorry for wasting your precious time. Truly sorry, indeed. I think there's a general misunderstanding here. I am NOT asking people to browse any categories for me, or to waste their time in any other way for dumb people like me who fail to understand the absolute necessity of thousands of bunny suit, chainmail lingerie and schoolgirl uniform mods. I am simply asking if anyone happens to already know any mods that could be of interest for me. If you don't know any, then just don't reply, which prevents you from wasting your precious time and me from explaining what kind of mods I'm looking for a third and fourth time. Thanks.
  15. Are you sure there's no way to find out which mod a certain object belongs to? I mean I have the object in my inventory, so shouldn't there be some way to determine which mod it comes from via the CS or something?
