LE Items with random stats -and- dual wielding animation change
xorterenshe replied to xorterenshe's topic in Skyrim's Mod Ideas
Wow, thank you for those suggestions! That Dual Wield Parry option for "Random Attacks" is pretty much exactly what I was looking for in my second point. And the Duke Patrick's thing is overly impressive. I'll have to give that one a try at some point. -
I have two questions. The first is in regards to weapons and armour with randomized stats. In other words, as you're going around the world, you can find various items that, in the base game, would be rather weak, but with this mod, would have a chance of being weak, strong, or anywhere in-between. So, say, for example, you kill an elf who is wearing elven armour. The armour would have the possibility of being as weak as leather or being as strong as daedric, or being around the normal stats of elven armour. And, I guess this could be controlled some by the leveling feature so that the player doesn't get anything with too high of stats early on. The reason I like this idea is that I like aesthetics more than statistics, and some of my favourite stuff, visually, is either too powerful for my tastes, or too weak to be useful (I'm looking at you, iron dagger). You can always temper stuff to be stronger in-game, but you cant make things weaker. So, it'd be neat to come across some cool looking, though early-game stat-wise, armour/weapon early on, and then later to come across that same armour/weapon with better stats that you can replace your current setup with, but still look the same. My question is: Is this even possible with Skyrim's engine? And, if so, how? My second question is with dual wielding. As it stands, I'm aware that there is a speed bonus to dual wielding as well as the power attack being quite powerful, but the concept of having to click both the left and right mouse buttons to swing each arm is rather bad. Also, the idea that a person couldn't block while dual wielding is stupid. I know there are mods to allow you to block while dual wielding, and I use one of them. But, there is a better option, though I dont know how possible it is. Pretty much every single other game that has dual wielding would do it this way: the normal attack button causes the character to swing both weapons in a chain of attacks the more you press the button. Think Kingdom Hearts 2 or .hack// or Assassins Creed 4. It would be better, thematically, to have such a system in Skyrim. Pressing the left mouse button causes the character to swing the right arm, then pressing it again and they'll swing the left arm, and so-on, so-forth. Then, pressing the right mouse button will allow the character to block. Sure, it'd make dual wielding with differently enchanted weapons more overpowered than if you had to remember to swing with the other arm manually, but it wouldn't be that much more overpowered. And besides, it would look better. You may get the notion that I care more about appearances and thematics than anything else, haha. But is that possible to do? And, like before, if so, how? I appreciate any information you can give. Thanks.

Is there a mod already that does this? If not, then could someone make a mod that prevents all the named NPCs from despawning when they die? I found this quote from the skyrim wiki (well, one of the skyrim wikis) that talks about a way to prevent despawning: "Non-respawning named NPCs can be turned into permanent corpses by placing a permanent or persistant item onto them. As long as the item is in their inventory, they will not disappear." However, that relies on knowing where their body is. I would like to be able to walk around the world and see where important NPCs have died out in the wilderness. I've had a few followers and wives who have died while on transit to their homes, and I've never found out what exactly happened to them. Specifically, this desire for this mod is for that. To be able to go out and find people's bodies who would have simply disappeared in the normal game. Plus, it'd be interesting to just randomly come across NPCs dead in the world. It'd feel more realistic that way. Sure, bodies would probably be eaten by wildlife, but bleh, that's not nearly as interesting.

Easy NPC Creation with Creation Kit problem
xorterenshe replied to xorterenshe's topic in Skyrim's Skyrim LE
Even for a non-1.6 updated version? That is the current version, right? I always (ALWAYS) deactivate auto-updates for games from Steam (unless they're online only ones). I wait to see if there aren't any problems with new updates before I go ahead and get them (which has been a saving grace a few times with Shogun 2.) But the version I'm using is, I think, 1.5.24. Perhaps the one before it. All I know is I heard there were some problems with 1.5.26, so I never upgraded to it. -
I've created an NPC with the YgNord race (part of the Pretty Face mod) using the Easy NPC Creation mod. I did all the steps to get it into the Creation Kit. I can then create a new NPC and import the visual data created by the Easy NPC Creation. There are some minor issues there, in that the hair style/colour or facial effects (like the freckles from the More Freckles mod) wont be the same as when I was originally making the character, but they're an easy fix. The real problem comes in when I try to play the game. So, I've looked through various tutorials on how to properly make a follower. I do all the steps and place it where I want it in an interior of some place in the game world (like inside the Bannered Mare). When I get to the door to the Bannered Mare and go to enter it, the game CTDs. I tried even using an existing companion mod and just changed the character to be the one I wanted to create, not editting where it would spawn or its scripts. But, the game would still crash. Thus, I think it must be the Pretty Face mod (which is two mods together: Enhanced Character Edit and Race Compatibility. The only other files I have active when finalizing the character in CK are the Apachii hairs and, of course, the Skyrim and Update ones. Does anyone know of a fix or way around this? I really want to make a follower using the Pretty Face mod.

First of all, I remember there being a Darth Revan costume for Oblivion, but I have yet to see it ported or remade (preferably remade) for Skyrim. Being that Revan is my favourite Star Wars character, I'd love to see his outfit (or, at least his mask) in the game. Secondly, Indiana Jones' outfit is always enjoyable to play in, regardless of the game. I was hoping someone would create and mod in his outfit into "The Saboteur", but it seems that game is almost impossible to mod. However, Skyrim would be a perfect game to have that uniform in it. Most of this game is spent exploring dangerous locations, so having a trusty fedora would be a nice addition. Finally, apart from Jedi Academy, I've yet to see a 3D game where you can play as Dark Riku from Kingdom Hearts 1 (apart from RE: Chain of Memories or if you use an action replay max or swap magic coder to hack KH1 and play as him. And it actually works pretty well.) It'd be great to have his outfit for male characters, and possibly the playable child race, in Skyrim (now if we could just get a hair mod for the child race, haha). Also, if someone could make the Keyblade of Hearts Riku/Ansem uses to go along with the outfit, that'd be brilliant. The Keyblade of Hearts is my favourite of them, and, as of yet, the only keyblade modded into Skyrim is the KH2 Ultima Weapon.

The fact it's happening to only some people is what bothered me as well. But, from what I've seen, everyone it is happening to has Win 7 64-bit and a GeForce GTX 200M series graphics card.

This is similar to an issue I'm having, and I've had a forum post on here for a while, but still no luck. Only difference is I dont have to restart my computer to fix the lag. But it only runs fine for about 5 minutes before becoming unplayable. If I had had ANY other problem with this game, it would have been fine... but we had to get the one un-solvable game-breaking problem. It must be a memory leak... I'd think. Do you have Win 7 64-bit, by any chance?

The time it stopped switching to battery-mode was the first time I'd tried to start the game without having my mouse connected to my laptop and instead used the touch-pad. That's the only thing I did differently when it stayed on AC-mode. After, I tried playing the game again with the mouse plugged in, and it stayed on AC-mode. So far, it hasn't had the battery problem since, even with my mouse plugged in. I'm not sure if that's helpful or not, as it's highly unlikely to be the cause, but that's the only information I have, sorry. ///_^'

First off, the FPS problem. This is similar to a problem I had with Black and White 2. Every time I start the game, it runs perfectly fine. The game automatically gives me really high settings, since I have a pretty good rig, and the game runs as smooth as real life. After about 5 minutes in game, though, there starts to be some mouse lag and a tiny bit of chopping. It's still playable, but pretty annoying. After another 5 minutes, the game becomes so laggy it's unplayable. If I press the escape key to open up the pause menu, the mouse and ability to choose options is perfectly fine. Once I close the pause menu, it goes back to being unplayable. If I exit out of the game to desktop and immediately come back, it is still unplayable. However, if I exit the game and wait for about 5 minutes then come back, it is running perfectly again. I have no idea what is going on or how to fix it. At least in Black and White 2, the game would only be unplayable for about 10 minutes and then go back to running smoothly. But Skyrim stays unplayable till I exit out for a few minutes, and I dont want to play the game in 5 minute intervals then have to quite out. My graphics card is a Nvidia GeForce GTX 260M. I have 4 gb of RAM. I'm running Windows 7 64-bit. I've tried running the game in compatibility mode for XP and running it as administrator, but that didn't fix it. Secondly, the battery-mode problem. I've put it in a spoiler box because, somehow, the game stopped doing this the last time I turned it on. However, I will not remove this information as someone else might end up having this problem or it might come back.
