Dark0ne: I'm a little confused by your problem. I use 3G mobile broadband myself and it works like a proper internet connection for me. I installed Skyrim and activated it through Steam for a very small amount of mobile credit cost. Once done I put Steam into offline mode and I never have to go on the net until I want to download an update etc. Of course go into individual games settings and make sure you select do not update this game automatically.
If your are installing all your Steam games again that would be rather expensive via Mobile broadband and any online games like Eve will eat your credit in minutes. My solution was to take an external drive around to a friends house, install Steam to the drive and all my games. When you take the drive back home Steam will want you to verify your password/username etc, they send a verification code to your email. Once you've confirmed that, you can go into offline mode no problem.
Steam is annoying I know but its an evil I put up with. ;)

I saw Legion Mages in the opening sequence of the game, wearing red robes. Where the hell have they or their robes gone?
No its just a Priest of the Nine Divines not a Legion mage. :)
-
Ghogiel: Well it saves correctly somtimes for me. Other times it screws up. So I moved to ATI which works all the time. If it works fine for you then great.
-
Bismarck: You mean the Knights of Tamriel mod for Morrowind don't you? Yes theres some definate inspiration to be found there. As to the ranks etc a lot of this has been mentioned on the Vigilants forums where the the ideas are along similar lines to your own. ;)

Actually despite the games shortcomings, I'm actually enjoying it now. Thats due to the fact that I'm making my own models and importing them, which has really increased the enjoyment for me. Putting your own personal stamp on the game helps a lot. :)
I have high hopes that gameplay problems will be sorted by mod authors when the CK comes out. Despite numerous issues with Skyrim at least it serves as a good foundation to mod.

Mental Gear: AMD Developer Central too.

Yes best to convert the file to TGA. I still do normal maps in Photoshop with Nvidias tool because DXT5 isn't bugged. The Compressonator is really easy to use. Load up texture. Select the generate mip maps at the top of the menu, select compression, choose the compression type, wait and then go to file and save compressed.

A current issue with the latest DDS Nvidia plugins is that DXT1 no alpha has a bad habit of saving with an unwanted white alpha channel. This issue does not occur with earlier versions of the plugin. I discussed this with a fellow mod author Mr Dave who confirmed the problem.
Personally I'm now using ATI's Compressonator because it does as its told and does not save unwanted alphas.

Remake Morrowind? That would be a rather lengthy task and you'd need a large team and some very dedicated modders. Not sure if theres any real need given the amount of graphic updates there are for Morrowind anyway. Solstheim is far more practical as others have mentioned. ;)
For myself I was planning maybe a Dunmer themed outpost on the game borders and possibly some new textures and models based on the Morrowind armour and clothing designs but thats about the limits of my ambition. Of course if anyone does seriously want to remake Morrowind then go for it.

Well who knows in the Bethesda dictionary January could mean March. On the optimistic side however I would say third week in January. ;)

Hi everyone.
I have a question. Did anyone make a Talon Company faction mod for New Vegas? The only Talon company mods I've found for New Vegas are some Talon themed weapons and armour. I always thought it would be great to have these scumbags roaming the Mojave.
I know some people may not think its entirely lore friendly but it seems that an organisation such as Talon company would have a Western Branch particularly considering how much opportunity for profit there is in the Mojave. For example carrying out contracts for the NCR and the Legion, possibly even doing dirty work for Mr House. Talon Company go where the caps are after all.
Always seemed like a missed opportunity to me, surprising nonone tried it. A New Vegas Bounties style Talon mod would be something really cool. Of course if there is a mod for it please let me know because I never found one.

Sounds really good so far. I know Sk8on mentions it would be better to have no music in dungeons but it doesn't play all the time and I for one would miss those little music cues that play when something really dramatic is revealed.
Sound is so important to immersion personally I can't wait until the CK comes out because that might tempt the OP into adding loads of new ambient sounds all over Skyrim. :)
-
The UI.
The Map. It breaks immersion for me. Give me an old fashioned worn paper map.
Limited dialogue options and overly linear quests.
-
Well you see. Firstly I didn't know that. I don't typically need to save a diffuse texture with an alpha, unless I'm saving a normal map which I always save as DXT5 anyway. I was only trying to help the OP out and while it may be inferior, DXT3 was an acceptable if not ideal solution.
-
Septfox: Yeah I'm at a loss to understand that too. The above method I pointed out has always worked for me no problem. So I'm sure we've both probably missed something important.
In regard to the DDS plugin I asked Mr.Dave a couple of days back about a problem relating to saving DXT1 no alpha and he confirmed that Nvidia had introduced a bug into the latest version where 9 out of 10 times the texture saves with an unwanted white alpha. I found I had backed up an earlier version of the plugin that works bug free but to be honest I'm now using ATI's compressonator instead.

I could go for the idea of being High King. Though Winterholds a dump I'd prefer to live in Solitude. :)

What version of Photoshop are you using? You can get Nvidia's DDS plugins here. http://developer.nvidia.com/content/nvidia-plug-adobe-photoshop-32-bit-85108161945
There is also a 64bit version here http://developer.nvidia.com/content/nvidia-plug-adobe-photoshop-64-bit-85108161945
However a strange bug exists in the current version depending on the version of Photoshop you have. Another alternative is the the Compressonator from ATI:

If have any problems, feel free to ask and I guarantee someone will be able to help you out further with this. :)

By the look of things you haven't saved the file with the alpha channel. Those black triangles you can see are the areas that would be transparent if the alpha channel was used. If you are saving a DDS colour texture with an alpha save as one of the following:
DXT1 1bit Alpha (Note this is not very good for a refined alpha channel, typically where fur and cloth are concerned)
DXT3 Explicit Alpha ( Usually the best result in most cases, the alpha channel is much neater)
DXT5 Interpolated Alpha (Only really of use when saving Normal Maps, the alpha allows for a very refined specular map when there are a lot of shades of grey)
Hope this makes sense. If not let me know and I will try to explain better. :)
Also why convert to PNG? Save the dds texture as PSD and you will keep the existing alpha channel anyway.

Oh here we go again another thread pointing out the inadequacies of Skyrim. Yes it doesn't have great animation and anything else you care to throw in the Skyrim failure basket, However it does have vast content, great atmosphere and does as much well as it does badly. :) I don't consider the limited animation to be a major factor to be honest, its something I come to expect with TES games and many talented modders end up revising the animations anyway.
Making Skyrim look like Final Fantasy ? (whatever number its on now) ;) would not suit the style of the game at all. Fixing limited choices in quests and a better magic experience are things I would prefer to see "fixed" before animation any day.

Artistdude05: Regarding how to address light armour and Paladin/Templar type stuff. Give me a bit of time and I'll PM you with some pics. I have numerous ideas that WILL work without a great deal of effort. :)
-
Shantih: I hope thats true and the modder in question has reuploaded it. You never know what that mod author may produce in years to come. Its awful that this sort of thing occured. Some people unfortunately just don't think before they make nasty comments and trample all over a modders enthusiasm.
Regarding comment below: Very good to hear. :)
-
Thats okay. I'll try repainting the whole texture tomorrow just to be on the safe side, its not like I was doing anything important anyway. ;)
-
Yes but is it legal to use the original art for this? That is the most important question.
-
Thought I'd try this out just to see if it makes any difference. If its not legal then I'll have a go at redrawing the entire image from scratch.Though I have completely colour corrected the image for use as a texture and made a few adjustments.
Hopefully someone in authority can let me know the legality of this one. I have no intention of uploading anything and getting banned from Nexus for a wall texture.
Image Example below.

I think Todd just lives on a different plane to the rest of us. One thats departing for Mars with no refund.
