  1. You could probably do this as well:

    Open the console (~)

    Type "player.placeleveledactoratme 7 (A clone of yourself)"

    Click on your clone,

Type "setessential" (makes NPCs go unconscious upon death, rather than dying)

And then I guess you can blow up your clone and watch him/her get up again.

  2. We can't help you if you don't tell us what's causing the problem.

mod loaded too much, :wallbash: :wallbash: :wallbash: .

Something more detailed than this, really.

Also, this is a forum, not a live chatroom. Don't expect a new reply every 2 minutes.

  3. I've not really noticed this for a while because I usually kill things faster than they can react, but I've come to realise my silencing poisons don't do a damned thing to magic caster enemies. I shoot them with my arrow laced with a poison of silence, they just heal right up. Its really annoying. Does anyone know what might be causing this?

I'm running several mods, according to load order:

  4. The Steam support page only tells me about MSN and Norton Antivirus being potentially incompatible, which was not a problem before, and exitting/disabling them doesn't show a significant improvement.

I did an error check on my C:\ drive, from the properties window. I don't know how in-depth that one is.

I'll look into the graphics drivers, I guess. Haven't fiddled with those since the beginning of the year.

  5. Does anyone else find the difficulty spectrum insanely huge in Oblivion? I thought it was similar to Fallout 3's, where Very Hard is still easy, so I set my game difficulty bar from the middle to the far right. Hoo boy, was I so wrong. I can a whole multitude of arrows (Not to mention the stupid arrows that didn't connect not only are awfully hard to spot in a grassy field, they also disappear after 90 seconds, apparently) and not kill a wolf, while it nips me twice in the thigh and I'm dead. I thought maybe that's what you get for staying at level 4 for so long, so I hit the bed. But noooo.... At level 12, all I get is even more deadly enemies, while the wolf only gets slightly easier to kill.

I could ramble on about how stupidly easy Fallout 3 is, but that'd be going severely off topic.

  6. Ugh. I used to play TF2 on a 6-year old mobo, with 1GB RAM, and a NVIDIA Geforce 6600. It never crashed, although during pyro duels it'd become a slideshow. The thing is, it never crashed. Now, almost immediately upon joining a server I get the memory warning.

No, I don't get BSODs outside of gaming. What I get is occasionally some message from my Linksys WUSB54G wireless adapter, like "Error 87: Bitmap image is not valid."

I had changed my paging file minimum from 2046 to 3070 after getting the new PSU, 3070 being the recommended value. That didn't really change anything.

  7. Doom 3 IMO was okay, but the earlier games certainly were better. Talking about ID, IMO, their worst game was Quake 4. So boring...

Quake 4 was kind of nice to me. They recreated the original Quake 2 baddies to be much more formidable and dangerous without changing them too much. But Doom 3, oh look, a lost soul, what's it gonna do? Crash into the wall if you step out of the way, just like 12 years ago. And imps, oh wow. Now their fireballs (which are plasma now, apparently), are affected by gravity! Have you seen how long it takes for a fireball to reach you?

  8. Well, seeing as your PSU had such horrible problems, check the connections on your motherboard. Mine did the same once, and I had to replace the motherboard because the PSU burnt the mobo when it broke.

Also, remove your RAM and check that they aren't fried either. But usually your PC wouldn't even start up if once of your sticks of RAM is broken, or it might start up and just make a beeping sound, then crash.

How do I check my connections, and whether my RAM is broken?

Prior to PSU replacement it'd always have the beep-and-crash problem, though the reset button always worked. After installing the new one there'd still be that problem, but it went away after I made sure the wires were all plugged in properly.

You aren't using any high-demand graphical mods for the Orange Box, right? I know Fakefactory's CM requires a lot of memory and a good video card (btw, your GPU isn't on the list  )

Said mod could cause your memory and other stuff to overwork and cause issues.

Oh yeah, and make sure your CPU has it's heatsink properly glued on too.

No, I don't run mods for my OB games.

My GPU is ATI Radeon HD 4650 (I was using an old NVIDIA card before that, my friend said there's the possibility I'd need to reformat for the new card to work right, but that hasn't been a problem before)

  9. I'm not sure which forum is the best to post this in, so if its in the wrong place, my apologies.

My computer has taken to being extremely disagreeable with video games recently, and I'm not sure why. It started happening after my PSU blew up (as in, there was a flash, and a smell of something burning. My power cable was also rendered useless), and I had to revert to a very old backup. I just bought a new PSU, better than the dead one, but the problems persist. In fact, they're worse.

I believe they're something to do with memory because my OrangeBox Source games specifically point to lack of memory causing them to crash, and whenplaying them, they always have the 'OS Paged Pool Memory Low' warning at the top right corner of the screen.

I also can no longer run Oblivion without something breaking, like the lockpicking tumblers not showing up, missiles only visible by the light they give off, NPCs sometimes failing to move their mouths or play audio when conversing.

    This is my computer specs:

  10. Some people are going to hate me for this, so if you like a certain strategy game and can't stand it if somebody doesn't like it, don't read the censored part.

I Hate warcraft 3, it was just so cliche and lame. Oh yeah, I didn't like starvraft either, so call me what you want, maybe I just sucked at them, I don't know, but I hated it.

I was beginning to think I was the only one.

Also, I really really hate Doom 3. It's a horrible attempt at a pseudo-tacticool shooter, a horror game and a run-and-gunner game mashed together. It doesn't even remotely resemble the first two games.

  11. You have to wait for all the patches to start coming in before you can really start enjoying it.

    I heartily agree.

I'm hoping, that with the title actually to do with Pripyat, there'll be more to explore of the city than the previous games, which is to say, pratically nothing.
