  1. Hey now, no need to be snippy.

We were asked which mods we felt negatively towards, so some of us are indulging. Likewise, you don't have to pay attention to this thread if it offends your sensibilities. Let us express some opinions, eh?

  2. It doesn't really make me angry, but the number of nudity-based mods and ridiculously skimpy outfits have me feeling a little bewildered. I downloaded the Type3 body replacer because I thought it was a bit strange how everybody, even the people obviously wearing no bra, let alone a vest, all wore the same gray and white underwear. But things like the Bouncing Breasts mod... Just... Why?
  3. Hi,

I'm not what you'd call an advanced GECK user, but I've used it enough to be able to give you this much advice: Don't leap into a massive undertaking like this for your first project. Use it as something to aim for, certainly, but start off with, perhaps, making retextures and custom weapon entries for it.

You say you "Have a dream" - Good on you. Keep that dream in mind, but work towards it. Take it from me; if you jump straight into something as complicated as creating an endgame quest, after the credits no less, you will almost certainly wind up frustrated and losing interest because of the complexity.

If you'd like my help on the simpler aspects of GECK editing, just PM me and let me know. Otherwise, I hope this has been at least of some help to you.

  4. Okay, here goes.

If you just want the Anti-Materiel rifle to have night vision, just open the GECK, load FalloutNV.esm, and open its weapon entry.

Then, just go to "Art and Sound", and at the bottom is the "Has Scope" box. Just check the bottom left option, "Has night vision", click OK, save your new .esp, and load it in New Vegas.

    Done.

Making a separate weapon mod for it isn't possible though, at least as far as I know. You'd have to create a separate weapon mod for it, then go to "Art and Sound" and click "Has night vision" and "Comes from weapon mod". This would cause the rifle to no longer be naturally scoped, however, and you'd have to get that weapon mod in order to get both the scope and night vision.

    Hope that helps!

  5. I had the same problem as you for the longest time; I wanted a poncho but the lone wanderer armor just looked too lumpy and unpleasant. The poncho on it was okay, though. Okay enough to borrow.

I made a Clint Eastwood costume using a heavily modded Ranger Vest outfit and then modding the poncho over it. If you're interested, it's here at:

Hope this is what you're looking for!

  6. I agree with you entirely.

I uploaded a mod which adds an attempt at Clint's revolver from The Good, The Bad and The Ugly (at http://newvegasnexus.com/downloads/file.php?id=36350 for shameless self promotion) and I wish somebody would make the poncho to go with it.

The "Lone Wanderer" armor has a nice attempt for the poncho with it, but the poncho itself looks too small, and the clothing underneath it looks bulky and unpleasant. The Man With No Name's actual clothing would be a blessing to this game.

  7. Hey guys. I'm new to the modding scene; the only other work I've done is a fix for someone else's mod, and thought getting the kinks ironed out of that had taught me enough to make my own. Seems I spoke too soon.

I'm now trying to make my first custom weapon. It's not exactly original; it's just a re-skinned and re-statted sniper rifle. What I've done so far is, I've made the modified sniper rifle textures, copied the sniper rifle's .NIF files, opened them in NIFskope, and changed the filepaths and names that the .NIF is using to match those of the textures I want to use. This doesn't work. I presume some of you have just read that and laughed at my ignorance. I wouldn't blame you.

I've also tried using the vanilla sniper rifle .NIF for it, and created a new texture set in the GECK to use as an alternate texture. Once I've applied it to the weapon in its edit screen, however, the preview image appears to have adopted the normal map as a texture. I'm going out on a limb and assuming that's not right.

That's my case, and I've tried damn near everything I can think of. If anybody can set me straight by telling me what I'm doing wrong and telling me how to do it right, I'd be so very, very grateful.

    Thanks!
