  1. Well for me, yest and no. I'd love to start seeing more complex magic, combat, and general overhaul mods but I haven't yet re-textured everything in my game. Though I'm sure that there are new textures for everything by now, I am not very satisfied with a great many and so a great many things in my game are still vanilla textures. So, I'm still hoping for someone to create texture mods that I do like as I have no skill at all to do that sort of thing myself.
  2. The only invisible walls Ive seen that arent at the border of Skyrim are in places like the interior of Whitrun around the walls where you might be able to jump outside of the city. It's understandable that these invisible walls are there in this case, since the outside of the city isn't exactly the one you might expect it to be.
  3. It's a lie. They've broken their word and delayed it numerous times now. They have no intention of handing it over. I have zero faith or confidence in these people, never did and never will...

Once again, I ask why they don't just give us the program they already used to make the game with. They must have used some kind of program to make Skyrim.

Because what they used likely has components that can not be distributed to the public as a result of copy rights, etc. That means they have to produce one that can be released that does not have these components. Since they have other priorities at the moment, like fixing major bugs, the CK gets to take a back seat for a while.

  4. I don't remember ever seeing this resolved in the game. Did he have a reason to attack Helgen besides out of just picking a town at random to attack? The game begins with speculation over who has control over the dragon, but once all the possibilities are eliminated there is no real follow up. Does the game reveal anything anywhere?
  5. I see plenty of other reasons to fight the Empire, and it's not as though the Thalmor aren't targets. They are. They just aren't the first priority since it is through the Empire that they are able to operate in Skyrim. Get rid of the Empire and you get rid of the Thalmor, atleast for a time.

As for reasons to fight the Empire:

They act as puppets of the Thalmor throughout Skyrim. Who cares if they (the empire) don't like it either? They still are.

The Empire is a failing entity, and it is pulling Skyrim down with it. Remember the line from Ulfric's little speach about why he fights? He lists some pretty compelling reasons. Maybe they can't resist the Thalmor without the Empire. But that doesn't change the fact that Skyrim suffers under it's rule, and to the people of Skyrim, it seems like they get very little in return.

Personally I think that Ulfric did the right thing, no matter what his real intentions are, but he chose a really bad time to do it. (of course if all he wants is to be king it couldn't be a better time to do it) Skyrim just won't have what it takes to take on the Thalmor if they come knocking at the door. Then they will be far worse off than they are now.

  6. We will see anything and everything, just like with Oblivion. If you want a list of what will be most common, this is my guess in order from most to least common, though I may forget a few things. It's just a general idea

#1. New textures for anything and everything

#2. New armor and weapon mods

    #3. Basic companion mods

    #4. House mods

#5. Changes to game play mods (talking about things like new spell and melee mechanics, improved AI, enhanced economy mods, survival mods, leveling mods, etc.)

    #6. Quest mods

Though there are a lot of quest mods for Oblivion after the years since it's release, you will notice there really aren't that many considering the vast numbers of mods in the other groups. That's because quest mods are the most difficult and time consuming of all mods to produce. Expect them to be few and far between in the beginning.

  7. But there are some nice stories to read :P No, really. Im serious, there are several pretty good stories. Plus you learn a little about lore. It seems to me there is a lot more to Skyrim than is evident in the regular game. Skryim was once home to Barenziah, played numerous major roles in the Empires history, including it's very creation, and tons of other things.
  8. Well my favorites are all of the "Not really HD" series of mods. They aren't HD, but they greatly improve upon the original textures and remain completely true to the original art designs. This is an example

Vurt's Flora overhaul is another great mod. Doesn't stay 100% true to the original art design, but in this case, it's a good thing!

This mod, imo, is the best rock replacer out there. The reasons I think so are

    1. it remains pretty close to the original design while making them look real instead of plastic

    2. The design looks very similar to the textures for the dwemer and draugr ruins. This is important to me for immersion because one should not see an environment filled with 1 type of rock and then see ruins of different types. This is something that other replacers fail to achieve.

    3. It also happens to mach well with a lot of the other stone work in other Nord settlements, which is great for the same reason as #2

Hope this helps. I do have more mods than this installed, but I am very picky, so sometimes I only have a single texture from a mod. These are the only ones I've installed fully.

  9. I have no doubt you will get your wish eventually. ;)

BlackReach is not the only perfect Dwemer stronghold for a city, and I have plans already with that one. (not blackreach, it is far too big for me to work on alone) I warn you though, anything significant with any mod of this sort will take a great deal of time to develop, even with a team. So be patient :)

  10. I feel like Bethesda made a big lie to us when they said Skyrim would have much bigger cities than Oblivion had. The Imperial City feels MASSIVE compared to Whiterun and cities like Dawnstar, Winterhold, Falkwreath and Morthal feel small and lacking compared to say Skingrad and Cheydinhal. The only cities I felt impressed by were Solitude and Markarth, every other has been been a huge dissapointment.

Anyone else feel this way? Or am I being mistaken?

I don't feel this way. I kinda feel the towns should be about the size they are. Not that something larger wouldn't be nice, mind you. The cities Whiterun, Riften, Solitude, and Markarth have a lot more outlying villages and people living around the city. Oblivion had very little of that if any at all. As a result the cities are a lot more believable and appear smaller than they really are. In Oblivion we had people walking around in random directions doing absolutely nothing at all. In Skyrim cities we have people walking from market stall to market stall, observing and commenting on the merchandise. We have bards singing in the inns. We have people chopping wood, running mills, running forges, skinning and preparing leather. I find the cities in Skyrim to be far more alive and interesting than anything in Oblivion. The Imperial city might have been huge, but it had very little going on.

  11. The last pre-set for the Imperial male is undoubtedly Cpt. Jack Sparrow. I wouldn't find that character particularly attractive though, and no I don't find any other males in this game attractive either. It's unfortunate they can't get some nice looking guys in this game since there are more than a few decent looking women
  12. @pavy Sure, but it doesn't appear that the OP was speaking of difficulty in those terms save for the sneak comment. He was able to one shot a legendary creature. Probably couldn't have gotten in that one shot if he wasn't using a sneak attack with bonuses from his perks.

    @fatalmasterpiece

Not using those mechanics is certainly an option. Not spending perks in them so that they become so over powered is another, probably more preferable, approach for those who still wish to use those things but still find better quality stuff elsewhere.

  13. Then stop using some of the most over powered mechanics to play the game. Don't smith, don't enchant, don't use sneak attacks, don't use impact, (or atleast don't spend perks in those skills) and limit yourself on how many potions you can gobble down during combat. The game will be a lot harder. Can't help much with the variety portion. I'm sure a mod will improve upon that in the future.
