Where the hell is everybody?
michaelkenner replied to ForgottenCamel's topic in Fallout 4's Mod Ideas
Not sure if this is exactly what you're looking for but maybe try the mod 'Where are you Now' by drdanzel? http://www.nexusmods.com/fallout4/mods/7903/? -
I've put in a link to a very detailed video tutorial series. It's for Skyrim, rather than Fallout 4 so it's not entirely up to date. However it might still prove useful as it focuses specifically on what you need for designing armour and the tools that are used to interface with the Bethesda file structure. (Just a quick content warning, the video series shows some designs that could be considered adult content so if you're uncomfortable with that sort of content you'll need to be careful with watching it)

The players voice, what can be done?
michaelkenner replied to TyberiousTC's topic in Fallout 4's Discussion
I really don't want to be discouraging but there are 13,014 recorded lines of player dialogue from the male voice actor alone. This may be a very difficult recording project and you'll want to make sure that both yourself and your friend are able to do the whole thing before committing to it. However you can get full copies of the in-game dialogue on the Nexus Modder's Resource page. Look for 'Full Dialogue and Voice Files' by Zilav. I've put the URL in below. http://www.nexusmods.com/fallout4/mods/7273/? -
I'm still pretty new to modding so a more experienced person might have a better idea than me. However I think this'll be surprisingly difficult to do for now, even though it's such a simple change. Until the GECK is released FOV4Edit can only recognize things that were in Skyrim or things that modders manage to figure out through trial and error. Since Codsworth's name recognition is a new feature it's likely that we don't know the right variables to edit yet. We might get lucky though if someone figures out how to do this on their own, otherwise it's a matter of waiting.

Don't forget to go over the list manually in NMM, checking the master files on each and make sure that any required masters are earlier in the load order. Theoretically LOOT should pick these up, but sometimes it's best to take a look manually. Just from a list of the names it's hard to get the required details, particularly since I haven't run some of those mods myself yet. However is 87 and 88 in the wrong order? This is just a guess from the filenames, but I would suspect that "Water" is the main ESP and that "Water DG" extends it for DawnGuard DLC. Having WATER DG first in the load-list might be wrong. (This is purely a guess but it's the only suggestion I can really offer from a quick visual check). If I'm correct, that would be enough to cause a CTD error, although I could be wrong and it's also possible that it might not be the only conflict in the load order. Edit: Thinking about it a bit more, it doesn't necessarily sound like a load-order problem. Load order CTD are usually instantly on game-load, rather than allowing you to play and crashing in game. That's usually more of an issue with memory usage. Are you running some form of memory patch to get around the 256kb memory allocation issue?

You're welcome, I'm glad I could help and that you've got the game working (even if it's still not quite right at least you can play). The item misplacement and multiple crafting options seems to be a result of CCOR and SkyRe conflicting even with the compatibility patch. CCOR changes the names of some of the categories in the crafting menu and then other mods put them in the wrong spot. I've had some similar issues and to be honest simply haven't bothered with trying to fix it (I'd actually forgotten all about this until you mentioned it). Multiple mods all affecting crafting don't seem to mesh very well. You might also be able to melt down items at the smelter without the SkyRe meltdown perk (because this is a part of CCOR) and if you get the SkyRe meltdown perk, you'll have multiple different recipes at the smelter giving you a different exchange rate for items. If it's a huge pain, you might have to get rid of CCOR entirely for the crafting options to work properly. I've gotten used to it now, so I don't really notice.

I believe that might be: LC_Immersive Looting by Locaster http://www.nexusmods.com/skyrim/mods/44106/? Just for the record, it's not actually the correct thread, you'd probably want to put it in the mod detective thread where you're more likely to get someone coming along who can help find the mod for you.

I use SkyRe whereas my housemate uses SPERG so I've seen both in action before. I'd say that they both do the same sorts of things with perks and if that's what you're mainly after SPERG is probably the easiest one to go for. The main reason to pick SkyRe over SPERG is if you like the other things that SkyRe offers, mostly the combat overhaul. While you can do the same sorts of things by combining a lot of other mods, SkyRe does it all in one mod. Despite the difficulties in compatibility with SkyRe, if you're running lots of separate mods to achieve the same level of changes you might have just as many (if not more) compatibility issues. With Xathra's patches and the inbuilt reproccer, you can run SkyRe with most other mods these days although it does take a little bit of effort. SkyRe gives you a very different sort of gameplay, particularly around combat. It's not going to be something everyone enjoys, since it tends to be a lot more strategic and brutal with more one hit kills and a greater focus on blocking, armour and stamina. If you really like the sort of gameplay that it offers, it's worth putting up with the extra effort for compatibility. If you don't enjoy its gameplay then there's no real reason to use it. I'd recommend watching some videos about SkyRe to see if it's even something you'd enjoy before making the effort to get it working with your other mods.

Prefered body type mods? and how to.
michaelkenner replied to Deleted5094879User's topic in Skyrim's Skyrim LE
I'm still experimenting with the different body-mods. I'm not quite sure which ones I prefer, I really need to do some side-by-side comparisons when I get a chance. I used Better Females by Bella for a while, it's purely a texture replacer for the face and doesn't affect meshes, skeletons or any other part of the body. -
Fair enough. I personally like LOOT a little better than BOSS, I've had to manually change my BOSS load order a few times but haven't had to do the same with LOOT. Still if BOSS is working out for you and it's what you're comfortable with, you don't really need LOOT. I tend to be a little obsessive with setting up my mods correctly.

Maybe try removing the PostReProccer Fixes IA7 IW aMidianSS Patch instead?
-
You could try contacting the publisher for approval. Unfortunately since the publisher is Microsoft, there's probably not as much chance as there would be with a smaller game company.
-
Ah, that's good to know. In that case I won't go ahead with attempting to extract them. Oh well, at least I've got a new game to play on the PC.
-
Are you still getting CTD problems? Edit: I'm not sure if having two different Post ReProccers is normal... it might be the standard process for the mods you're running, but it looks bizarre.
-
Actually Fable is only $10 on steam, so I'm buying a copy now. I'll give it a try and see if I can get it to work.
-
I did some reading on this in the fable mod forums, and as far as I can see the way to do it would be: Export the mesh from the Fable .big file using Fable Explorer as a .x file Open the .x file in 3ds Max (which is available for free here http://www.autodesk.com/education/free-software/3ds-max if you're a student) Save the 3ds Max file as a .nif using the 3ds Max Nif Importer Exporter http://www.nexusmods.com/skyrim/mods/5622/? Use NifSkope to add the .nif file into Skyrim I don't own a copy of Fable though, so I can't do this myself. Edit: I would be happy to try to get the meshes working in Skyrim if you could extract them as 3ds Max files though.

Sure thing, I was worried after I finished writing that post that it wasn't very clear. When you activate Xathra's compatibility mod it will add 2 .esp files to your plugin list. The names of these .esp files will change depending on which options you picked during the install menu. Mine are: Pre ReProccer WAFR IA7 IW Patch.esp and Post ReProccer Fixes CCOR IA7 IW Patch.esp Yours will be different because you're running a different mod list than I am. However whatever the names end up being, one of them will start with Pre ReProccer and the other will start with Post ReProccer. For load order it's very important that the very last files on your load list are 1) The Pre ReProccer (whatever its full name is) created by Xathra's compatibility patch. [This needs to be the third from last] 2) ReProccer.esp by T3nd0 created by the reproccer.jar file. [This needs to be the second from last] 3) The Post ReProccer (whatever its full name is) also created by Xathra's compatibility patch. [This needs to be the last plugin] And they need to be in that exact order otherwise it will most likely CTD.
-
You need what? expore? From context, I'm guessing that they meant to say "Export files from Fable: The Lost Chapters to Skyrim". So presumably they want someone to extract the .big files from Fable and convert them to .nif files for Skyrim.

Hmmm... tricky for me to figure out because I'm not running the Bosmer armour pack (which is a pity because now that I look at it, it's a really awesome mod). I've uninstalled Xathra's patch and reinstalled it to look at the menu and I've found something that might help. It says, "This patch is for the 1-4 part no NPC changes Bosmer Armor Pack. This was done to avoid compatibility issues with EEO, etc." This is pure guess work, but if you're running the main file version of the Bosmer Armour pack it's probably incompatible. I'm guessing the reason you're getting a reproccer.jar error is because when you tick bosmer armour mod in Xathra's patch, the patch's ESP gets marked as requiring the 4 part bosmer armour pack. BOSS is therefore throwing an error which results in the reproccer not working. You could confirm this by looking at Nexus Mod Manager on the plugin page and check the master files listed next to Xathra's patch. If this is the case there are two solutions I can think of. 1) Untick the bosmer armour pack in Xathra's patch, reinstall it, run the reproccer again and see if the built-in reproccer can adjust the stats of the bosmer armour itself. Load up a game with the bosmer armour and check its stats to see if this works. 2) Download the 4 part version and run Xathra's patch with bosmer armours ticked. I'm putting this as number 2 option because those are some damn big files and I can't guarantee that it would work. Also it would mean that NPCs wouldn't wear the armour which might not be quite what you want. Also just make sure that your load-order has the plugins in the right order. Your absolutely last 3 files should be: Pre-reproccer Reproccer Post-reproccer Make sure that they're at the very bottom of the list with nothing beneath them. BOSS has a nasty habbit of moving these up the list (at least it did for me), so check it manually. Also try checking your load order with LOOT instead of BOSS and see if that helps. http://loot.github.io/

I'm doing a werewolf run at the moment and it's going well. I haven't had any compatibility issues and I like the options the mods give me, so here's what I'm running. Tales of Lycanthropy. http://www.nexusmods.com/skyrim/mods/12687/? Werewolf Perks Expanded. http://www.nexusmods.com/skyrim/mods/22134/? Heart of the Beast. http://www.nexusmods.com/skyrim/mods/13779/? Predator Vision. http://www.nexusmods.com/skyrim/mods/22274/? Predator vision gives you the nightvision and detect life. (By default you only get night-vision in human form, but the MCM allows you to get detect life in human form and not just in werewolf form). Werewolf Perks Expanded also gives you boosts in human form like running speed, unarmed damage, non-hostility from predators and stamina regeneration if you take the right perks (also gives you vulnerability to silver in human form). Nature of the beast which gulogulo recommended above looks fantastic from its sample video but I haven't tried it myself so I can't comment on how well it works in play.

For some mods, the dirty edits are required for the mod to work. Before cleaning them, make sure you read the readme for that particular mod and see if it mentions requiring the dirty-edits. Honestly I don't think dirty edits are that big of a problem anyway. They might have issues, but a seriously unstable game is more likely to be caused by incompatible mods or an incorrect load order. Deleting save-games would be unlikely to help with memory issues. Usually they simply take up hard-drive space and wouldn't be loaded into memory. I would recommend the following. (This is only my own opinion based on my own experiences, take it with a grain of salt). 1) Reset your Skyrim to vanilla. http://wiki.step-project.com/Guide:Make_Skyrim_Vanilla_Again 2) Download the unofficial patches. http://www.nexusmods.com/skyrim/mods/19/? 3) Use one of the Skyrim memory patches. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=37xAMUQc1oY 4) Make sure you're running the latest SKSE. http://skse.silverlock.org/ 5) Get the latest version of Nexus Mod Manager. http://www.nexusmods.com/skyrim/mods/modmanager/ 6) Get BOSS. http://boss-developers.github.io/ 7) Get LOOT. http://loot.github.io/  Then finally install your mods one at a time, carefully reading their installation instructions and readmes. Pay especially close attention to compatibility and make sure that you're getting all appropriate compatibility patches and have the most up to date versions of all of your mods. Make sure that your load order is correct using BOSS, LOOT and information on load order from the read me files in your mods. 9) Test the mods as you're installing them, make sure it works before you have so many mods running that it's impossible to tell what's causing the problem. I personally would place cleaning dirty edits as step 10 and only worry about it if you're still experiencing issues after doing all nine steps above. Edit: That smiley face with the sunglasses is meant to be step 8... but I suppose I'd be smiling and strutting about in shades after getting through all those steps, so I suppose it's appropriate enough. Damn emoticons.

Must have mods, and mods to avoid.
michaelkenner replied to IceDolphin's topic in Skyrim's Skyrim LE
It would be easier to make recommendations with a clearer idea of what sort of mods you are looking for and (if known) what sort of playthrough you are going to be doing. Also for compatibility concerns do you have any core overhauls that you're planning on using? I notice SkyRe in your list above which will make compatibility an important issue to consider. Anyway, here are my personal must have mods. I run a lot of mods and change them fairly frequently, but these are the ones that I seriously would find it hard to play without. SkyUI - http://www.nexusmods.com/skyrim/mods/3863/? I don't think I could play skyrim anymore without SkyUI. I occassionally forget that this is a mod and not built into the original game SMIM - http://www.nexusmods.com/skyrim/mods/8655/? Stops me from feeling like I'm playing it on a console and makes the graphics a lot better. Really improves the game's original meshes. Windsong - http://www.nexusmods.com/skyrim/mods/52322/? Makes the characters look actually human (or elf... whatever). Convenient Horses - http://www.nexusmods.com/skyrim/mods/14950/? This mod made me actually use horses whereas before I completely ignored them. Ralgas Armoured Husky Follower - http://www.nexusmods.com/skyrim/mods/52006/? Skyrim is too lonely without a pet dog and Ralgas is my favourite. Frostfall - http://www.nexusmods.com/skyrim/mods/11163/? This mod spends more time annoying me than anything else... and yet without it, I might as well install a tropical skyrim mod because it doesn't feel like a real frozen wasteland without it. Immersive HUD - http://www.nexusmods.com/skyrim/mods/3222/? Another one that I forget isn't part of the original game. Wearable Lanterns - http://www.nexusmods.com/skyrim/mods/17416/? I run a lot of lighting mods which make Skyrim look great, but now a light source is necessary. It's this or cast candlelight every few minutes. Realistic Needs and Diseases - http://www.nexusmods.com/skyrim/mods/26228/? Much like Frostfall this mod is a constant annoyance... but without it Skyrim wouldn't feel real. A Quality World Map with roads - http://www.nexusmods.com/skyrim/mods/4929/? With my lousy sense of direction, this map is a must have. Before getting this mod I'd travel everywhere in straight-lines following the quest marker and have to climb any mountains in the way, now I can find the road. I wouldn't say that there are any mods that you have to avoid. Certainly be careful about anything that's hard to uninstall and consider compatibility when planning your mods. For me, personally, I'll always avoid lore-breaking mods. That's not a concern for everyone though. -
If you're new to modding, then I would recommend looking at mods carefully one at a time rather than trying to compile a list of the perfect mods. Add one, see how it works, learn about that mod's compatibility and try it out with some others that you want to use. It's generally going to be a personal process that takes time and gives you a unique Skyrim that matches what you're looking for. If you want just a list of mods which will work together and create a great effect, you can't go wrong with Gopher's video series that was recommended above. The mods in those videos all work together simply and easily but create a fantastic appearance to skyrim. It's the perfect base to build from. Looking at your list above, one issue sticks out immediately. You have both UNP and CBBE mods on the list. These are two different female body-types and while you can combine them to some extent, there are going to be certain issues with that. If you're new to modding it might be best to pick one of the two bodytypes and just stick with that one for everything.

Anyone know the name of this armour?
michaelkenner replied to silentslayer780's topic in Skyrim's Skyrim LE
Edit: Whoops, had the wrong link before. Here's the correct one. That's Equipment Of Eternal Shine - Elven Overhaul by lKocMoHaBTl http://www.nexusmods.com/skyrim/mods/17582/? -
Hi, SkyRe is a lot of fun but can be a bit tricky to set up. I just went through the process myself and finally have everything working perfectly even though I'm running it alongside a lot of other mods. Some of the installation tutorials for SkyRe are getting a bit out of date and it's hard to find the right information. I struggled a bit until I found this video It gave me all the information I needed to get everything working and it's a set of simple, step by step instructions. You should be able to get it working if you follow along with the video as it does each step. Gopher has also done a fantastic video on installing SkyRe but unfortunately it's already out of date and will not work if you're using the latest version of Immersive Armours. I have to say, it was well worth the work. I think SkyRe is a really fun mod to play with.
