SG! So good to see you back! I finished your mods and put Fallout NV down. Really I did. None of the baddies are bad enough, none of the goodies flawed enough (naievete is pretty much their thing, which is with the style, but really), and my Courier got tempered into a level 40 gunslinger by your work. I haven't done anything but Side Bets missions and three of the DLCs in the vanilla game, but I can't be killed. Even the vaquero for one of your poster bounties, some guy who ambushes you at the 'southern passage' - even he, and all his goons, were no match. Close, but alone they all ate it. Anyway, EXCITED. February! s#*!! There goes a month! ;D

Hardcore Stimpak [shameless plug]
DeeVee74 replied to DeeVee74's topic in Fallout New Vegas's Discussion
Hey man! Thanks for the review! I wanna break my scripting chops on Hydra next up. In the new year? Who knows? On Superstim: that's part of the magic. It gives you a one or the other choice; if you've already screwed yourself on stims, the super is suicide. Now, there is a mod for bedrolls (can't remember which) but there's also one in Lonesome Road, which I just completed. I may get rid of the damned thing because there's an urgency to wandering around, looking for a place to camp when your sleep is over 900. And a romanticism to bedding down next to a caravan or the splayed corpses of a bunch of vipers you just mutilated for, literally, strips of dirty cardboard. Also, Legion assassins really make for an irritation when you're about to launch an op but need to go nap because one of em broke your ribs with a super sledge. I'm still fiddling with this, but will let you know when there's an update. Track it. -

Desert Ranger Armor without the duster.
DeeVee74 replied to gunslinger6792's topic in Fallout New Vegas's Mod Ideas
That's an awesome idea! I like it a lot. I'll get it and endorse when you release it. Yeah. I'm a sniper, so I keep shooting the AMRs to the ground. It's the bastards with the super sledges I keep getting owned by. And the death claws. The ambushes in this DLC are tougher than Someguy's and the one in the camper - having that death claw drop onto the top of it like that scared the s#*! out of me. On the Cass armor, how hard would it be to switch the pants out? Russel and I are already wearing the khakis with bandana, so three would be a little ridiculous. I'd just go for standard brown ranger pants. -
In my home, I have about 300 cartons of cigarettes, 30,000 caps, nine bars of gold, 600 pre war monies, and lots of little NCR bills and legion coin. I could probably open all those cartons, go to GR, buy me a new rifle. s#*!, I could go all Metro and just trade bullets. I handload my rounds into better stuff, so could turn a profit. Anyway, there's my two [currency]. Sully somewhat inspired that. :D

Starving and decrepit body type/NPCs
DeeVee74 replied to wewillhold's topic in Fallout New Vegas's Mod Ideas
I agree with Danny - even Fiends, who take a totally fake number of drugs, are beefier because each one of them is sort of an Alpha in his own special way. I just play with NVR on and that satisfies my need for malnourished folks. Great frigging mod. -
Desert Ranger Armor without the duster.
DeeVee74 replied to gunslinger6792's topic in Fallout New Vegas's Mod Ideas
Devin! This thing is brilliant! I'm in the Divide right now, and aside from getting bushwhacked every ten minutes, I'm loading ED-E down with riot armor to take home for my pallies. This one would work PERFECT for Cass. Mind if I nip a copy? For personal use, unless I can write an epic that revolves around Cass wearing her jacket. -
Holy s#*!. I wasn't even thinking that. With the light-hearted moral dilemmas in the vanilla game, my courier has gotten zilch in the way of character development (it's easy to be a good guy; I think you literally need to just wipe out innocents en masse in order to be bad, there's no conflict), but with Someguy's mods, there's definitely been a change, and a lot of little personal atrocities witnessed and committed, so if old Glanty did a nihilist's 'holier than thou' routine, daaaammmnn. That would be quite something. Bravo, Pwinkle.

I have a tendency to get lost in some underground locations, but have started using specific garbage to mark my way. Namely, cigarette butts from Light Up & Smoke. Sure, for RP purposes, any of the enemies I've made in NVB can figure out where I've been, but they seem to do that anyway. This just lends explanation. Now, is there a way to hot key a drop of a specific item? Can someone help me script that?

Why not have the hive brain be off in a colony under a rock, sending out what amounts to lobotomites? Courier has dealt with these! No problem! But then it is revealed later all the stuff in the spoilers. I really like the idea of the unwilling slave thing. Kind of like the crab heads in HL. They scream for help and all you can give them is release. But also, creating conflict with an apparently benign computer overlord could be even better.

Making the game look as best as possible?
DeeVee74 replied to Seanspade's topic in Fallout New Vegas's Discussion
Look up poco bueno. I use it on top of nmc. Also, get NVR. That is my die hard can't play without mod. -
Hmm. Hive AI or hive brain? Awesome idea either way!
-
Jesus Monkey Burning Christ I think that's the central pivot. That's frigging intense. The first few in the docking bay, no karma loss, but after that, you get a hit every time you slaughter one. Totally isolated and alone. Buggerall that would be quite something. Of course, you'd have to play it HC to really beef up that isolationism.
-
This looks awesome!!! Is love to work on a project like this. Right now, I'm working on a mod with a psychotic AI, so we'll see how it turns out. If the thing is any good, maybe I could write this one? I'm thinking Big Empty isolated AI, or should it be fully rogue and corrupting the whole joint?
-
Started recording and editing dialogue for main antagonist last night. Fun! But time consuming.
-
Oooh. I like that even better. Only problem would be a vindictive Courier (like mine) would chase it down. Maybe using vents or manholes? Giving the option eventually for the Courier to do a tough side quest and nuke it early, maybe?

Propane Tanks... We Need Propane Tanks
DeeVee74 replied to DeeVee74's topic in Fallout New Vegas's Mod Ideas
Oh, I'm also screwed. I was just curious if anyone could make this simple. I'd be willing bit I have two other mods to finish first. -
Propane Tanks... We Need Propane Tanks
DeeVee74 replied to DeeVee74's topic in Fallout New Vegas's Mod Ideas
We could make it part of the same mod! Call it something fancy like 'Thermodynamic weapons augmentation for a new generation.' Includes phosphorous, thermobaric and backyard solutions to population control and reduction! "Put 'em to bed toasty warm, with TWANG!" -
For real this time (but not propane tanks)
DeeVee74 replied to DeeVee74's topic in Fallout New Vegas's Mod Ideas
I was thinking more along the lines of keying ranger takedown, upper cuts, etc to numpad keys, allowing you to Bruce Lee an opponent into mush. Also, could even incorporate new, modded, melee attacks, such as sneaking KO blows and jumping swings. Sneak up on a legionary, bash him in the head, beat him to death while he's down. Or leg sweep a particularly annoying combatant, then bust out your rifle and handle his backup, then put a couple of rounds in him while he tries to regain his feet. -

Thermobaric hmm. This is outside the scope of this thread, but I'll agree we need more grenades and cunning uses of such. -
Propane Tanks... We Need Propane Tanks
DeeVee74 replied to DeeVee74's topic in Fallout New Vegas's Mod Ideas
Accuracy not 100% necessary, since if you're going for immersion, you're not going to stand close enough to the thing to care. But yeah - just separate little tanks, that explode. No, maybe propane doesn't burst right away, but we're a step above red barrels right now. But, okay, what about a propane tank that releases a gas cloud? We could have two flavors. I'm directing it in my head - for some reason you're running away from Fiends (say there's six or seven thousand of them), you get to a dead end and flip around, and all you can see is their glowing little eyes as they swarm at you. But wait! What is that little thing with the 'don't shoot' warnings on it? Aha! A clever plan! Then, gas cloud, Fiends come into firing range, turn to ash while one little 10MM round zings very wide of you. Or flame jet broils their front line before they're all wiped out. Then the only elected member of Fiend hierarchy, the poor f*#@er way out front with a lead pipe*, is brought to ground simply and cleanly. Awesome stories to tell remain. *Seriously, this guy should be a named NPC for all the times I've seen him Monty Pythoning across the battle field after all his more threatening friends took a 40/70 and went to sleep. -
Yay! You're using my mod! :D I thought it was neat. I should probably finish it. On the Legendary Ghost: why not have him follow the player around? Sort of like Nemesis, but way more irritating. Not like how Legion Assassins will beeline to you from their birth canals even though you're dicking around four kliks from the edge of nowhere, in sneak, on a raft, in space, but some sound will play and you'll know it just zoned in behind you. Make its breathing distinct and you hear doors bang open or whatever, then it patrols around for you. Then, every time you knock it down and back off a limb, it gets back up some time later. You gotta use some special weapon to kill it or you have to trap it somewhere or douse it in acid. Or ONLY disintegration will do the job. Or bring it back to the Mojave and kill it there somehow. Something. Regards, Commander Vague

I don't know how hard you RP, but my Courier is not a chem user, and after going through DM with this mod on, I was hooked to three different chems I was using out of necessity. I was also starving, tired, and chugging dirty water wherever I found it. Dunno if it's what you're looking for but it definitely improved my DM experience: http://www.nexusmods.com/newvegas/mods/57116/?

Oh, not like that. I was going to have the VO going while the player was moving around. I just don't want it to fade out at points. Doh. Elijah does that s#*! constantly, the useless bag. I'll check Dead Money. I went to Freesound this morning, this is becoming less and less black comedy and more and more military torture simulation. Also found candidates for a hectic birthday song. This is relevant. Anyone with any suggestions for a high-tempo rendition of Happy Birthday, the more frenetic, the better. Can you use the same trigger twice with an if/endif block? I want to have one VO play one time, lead the player through something back into the same room, then play another when they hit the trigger after passing through another trigger.
