What Steam needs to do(for those that don't run off of FO4SE is to have the functionality of running if off-line mode available per game, as opposed to the whole library(at least that's how it appears to work for me, regardless of which game I start it tells me I'm in off line mode). That and give us the option to turn off auto-updates entirely for each game, give us the option for manual updates only or no updates at all.

Based on history, and taking information from various interviews this is what you can expect from Beth going forward. First we'll see the release of their new IP, probably sometime next year or 2019, depending. Development cycles for Bethesda, which at last count had 3 and or 4 development teams working concurrently on different projects(don't listen to Todd about ES6) in various stages. That's how they're set up and that's how they'll continue to be run as long as they can publish a new game once a year, whether that game is from ID Software, Bethesda Softworks, Arkane Studios or even Zenimax Online. You can presume anywhere from 6 - 7 years between games in each of their titles(including the unknown new one).

Selling your special stuff you don't want to sell.
Zaklex55 replied to jjb54's topic in Fallout 4's Discussion
I've never had that problem, but maybe it's because I only carry one weapon at a time that I'm using and I apply specific items to armor so I know what it is I'm wearing...everything else I want to keep, weapons and armor are dropped off at one of my homes and placed in a container, but it's a good idea for those with bad memories. -
I have a reason why those fusion cells aren't used for anything other than weapons...it's because that's what they were designed for, they're not a power source like a makeshift battery; they were not designed to provide anything but an energy source for the laser pistols/rifles, etc.,. There, now I've solved your immersion problem, the same should hold true for the plasma weapons, but those should be using plasma cells, not fusion...come to think of it, the laser weapons shouldn't be using fusion cells either, insufficient energy, you'd probably need quantum cells...hmm

I always drop them in my workshops, since they're kinda heavy. So I have to have them on my person to use them? Interesting, all my robot parts and mods weigh 0.5 lbs each, so I forget that I have then sometimes, just deposit them in which ever location you'd like, workbench or robot workstation...shared access as is the case between all workbenches and the work stations.

The access to TVs would be determined by how many I could build for my settlements. In Post-War America, the Enclave is the only form of national military I've seen in the Fallout universe, and there is no physical appearance of them in this iteration other than leveled X-01 Power Armor. As mentioned by others in this thread, the GNN building is only guarded by Gunners. Had Bethesda bothered to make the GNN building a strategic target, the Brotherhood of Steel would have given the player a quest to clear it out to be occupied. The GNN building is not just guarded by the Gunners, it's the headquarters of the Gunners...so you'd think the BoS would've sent you after them anyways(wouldn't want them interfering in our plans now, would we. I thought the Gunners headquarters was the Gunners Plaza just east of the marshland near the Glowing Sea. That is the GNN building, only the Gunners call it Gunners Plaza.

Mod Request: Satisfying Brotherhood Questline (SPOILERS)
Zaklex55 replied to spwned's topic in Fallout 4's Discussion
No, Dense is the requester's idea of making Danse not a Synth, and also by not placing this in the Mod Request forum...where it might actually be seen...though I have no problems with all of the above, with the exception of everyone blowing up the Institute because of the Synths. Making the synths in of themselves is not immoral, replacing live human beings with them is...synths if left alone could just as easily work alongside humankind in the future, especially once they become self-aware. -
As if someone couldn't do that on their own anyways, and then post the instructions on the net, yeah, smart move on Sony's part, really keeping someone from getting past the PS4 systems security..

Umm, you could use the building for the newscast, since that is what it was for, there's even a room for broadcasting already there, but you'd have to remove the spawn points for the , or just copy the building model in a new mod.

Nuka World, Raiders and the Minutemen (Preston)
Zaklex55 replied to Innocenceislost's topic in Fallout 4's Discussion
I'm sitting at having given 1 of each zone to each of the Raider gangs, and not thinking of giving the 4th to any of them(which also means I won't be completing the main quest-line in Nuka-World. I think I'll ask for a mod that allows you to either give the 4th zone the the Traders(as a separate faction) or to keep it for myself(as a new settlement)...thereby not giving any one single Raider group more than a single zone, but that might require a lot of work(though it would be more interesting, imo).- 83 replies

The Fallout Series and the Elder Scrolls

mods for the construction of the subway
Zaklex55 replied to kop9000's topic in Fallout 4's Discussion
Of course this post should really be in the Fallout 4 Mod Requests forum and not the discussion forum...I think you would need to request a Mod move it to the correct forum. -
Nuka-World and the updates had/have had no effect on F4SE working what so ever(as of today 09/01).

Duke Nukem mean anything to you? either way it was 4 years full time and 3 years off and on. no excuse though 4 years is plenty of time to make something better, but there are good reasons to not make dedicated versions for devices. though i think they should have focused on the PC and dumbed it down for the Console version. The problem with comparing it to Duke Nukem is that the last version was scrapped and rewritten/made how many times in the dozen or so years it was in development, at least 2 that I'm aware of, so that makes 3 versions(the 2 scrapped and the 3rd released) of a single game in 12 years, which averages out to around 4 years each(just numbers, not the actual development time on each version). If you take into consideration the boatloads of money they made from this title(and from Skyrim before it) then there really is no valid reason not to develop two separate version, you could conceivably make even more money, though the console players might wonder why the PC version is different, it's just something that marketing would have to be fairly forceful to push for(I know it costs a little more, but that should easily be earned back with even more sales). Technically making separate versions as I'm stating doesn't require two development teams, but the one team to make it for PC, and a much smaller team to then take that PC version and turn it into a usable console title, which most people call dumbing down for consoles, but in reality is a separate version of the game. You can say it was 3 years off and on and 4 full time, but that still works out to 7 years total...and it's not like they had to design a completely new engine or anything...I just think the organization is not very well streamlined nor do they appear to coordinate very well. Let's see how well they don't do making 3 games at the same time(does that mean they have about 700 - 750 employees now, or more like 900) as they should have 233 - 250, but ideally ~300 per team for each game(and that's all staffing, not just the game designers/programmers, etc.). Of course the first thing they need to do is have the brand new game engine designed and built(which they should have someone else do, but that won't happen). Nobody's who's played the game believes this. Why? I played Bethesda games since 2002, Morrowind. I gave up on them creating better games. Also, it's not 7 years, it's only 4, since there was Skyrim in the meantime. Which, by the way, rolled back on what FO3 already offered in it's vanilla state. So, no, I didn't expect anything more. I expected Bethesda, and since I'm a leech, I expected the modders to take care of Bethesda when I bought this game. And that's exactly what I got. That's true, but there's a difference between expecting and knowing what you'll end up with. You can expect better while knowing you won't get better, without disappointing yourself.

Fallout 4: How it should've been.
Zaklex55 replied to RogueMatriarch's topic in Fallout 4's Discussion
Just a comment on this, everyone enjoys what they like and have their reasons. Mine are different from yours in that the whole alternate universe etc. "I should just believe it" thing just doesn't work for me, when what's presented is supposedly based on facts we know today. Supermutants? No problem, that's science fantasy. High-powered pipe weapons? ....no effing way, it takes actual metallurgical knowledge combined with engineering and manufacturing to make a LOW-power gun that doesn't blow up in your face. One of the biggest problems is that this is just not necessary. There is a steelworks facility IN THE GAME, and that means the capacity to produce high-quality receiver and barrel blanks exists. Why not simply work that in as a necessity for the improvised weapons? Also, why do pipe guns have to be competitive with actual high-powered guns made with vastly superior technology? Why aren't these improvised weapons filling the exact role they would in that situation - emergency defense weapons for people who don't have access to better, or thug weapons used to terrorize helpless victims by criminals whos lawless status prevents them from getting better (unless they steal them)? This works perfectly as you will absolutely get access to manufactured weapons fairly soon, and good ones at that. The answers lie in the mindset of the makers of the game. IMO, they were focusing on all the rest of the work. As far as items and loot, they just piled in a bunch of stuff and said "eh, that's enough work, making the weapons / loot make sense isn't worth the extra effort". One mod maker even describes the loot system as "phoned in" and lacking the data necessary to put loot where it makes sense, so we're stuck with getting forks and knives out of filing cabinets (uggh). To sum up, this is why I support mods like this. I am trying to enjoy the adventure, but the more immersion-breakers are thrown at me, the less I enjoy it. So the more of those that can be fixed, the more I'll enjoy the game. I get it, and I said as much in my original post, but I don't think anything presented in the Fallout world is based on facts we know today...just look at the environment itself, if it was based on facts we know today the surrounding land would be lush and overrun with wild life(and not necessarily mutated wild life at that). As for the loot system...since when has any game had a loot system that made any sense? I've yet to play one that makes complete sense as to what gets dropped by enemies or you find in containers. Finding forks and knives in filing cabinets is actually not far fetched at all...have you ever looked in a filing cabinet? I can guarantee I've seen stranger things than forks and knives in filing cabinets before, usually left by someone that got distracted and forgot what they had with them, but again, that's a personal like/dislike and I've not trying to say my way or your way is better, just that it's not impossible. Ah, Saugus Iron Works...that place has perplexed me since I first ran into it...you've got a complete working mini-mill in the Commonwealth, and who controls it...Raiders. I would think that by now(in-game time) someone(or a bunch of people) would have taken out the Raiders and tried to get the mill back up an running, even if in a rudimentary way. I don't think you'd be able to forge precision parts for weapons, as most of the old world way of working things has been lost, but you could forge basic components. Personally that's what I want to do with the asset, if not make another mill in another location that's working producing basic materials to build better and stronger settlements, the same with Echo Lake Lumber in Far Harbor...the only thing missing is a way to produce cement, and that's not so hard when all you need to do is crush the existing concrete rubble and mix it with new sand and water(that's how they do it today and I'm sure it would happen by accident with heavy rains and crushed cement laying around). Then you'd have the building blocks of decent settlements. As for the pipe weapons, I've never considered them to be anything but emergency use items(I actually never use them in game myself though), and I've never seen them as being that extremely over powered or dangerous, at least not that I've noticed, but then I don't really pay that much attention to how effective they are when I'm just trying to defend myself and have to kill first or be killed. I think it's great this person is taking on this much work and I did wish him luck, but we all are entitled to our opinions...your's is just as valid as mine and as valid as someone else's but that's no reason we can't have civil discussions about it.- 138 replies

Keep in mind it took Bethesda 7, I repeat 7(seven) years to make FO4...don't you think that was enough time to make a much better game than the one they ultimately made(and if you're going to take that long, then make 2 versions: 1 for PC and use everything it's capable of, and 1 for consoles, with their limitations).

Which faction is the best for humanity?
Zaklex55 replied to JackTrenton's topic in Fallout 4's Discussion
Did you not pay attention to anything you were told by anyone when you were down there? It's been kept alive and expanding by each subsequent generation, the original CIT scientists started out before the war building the underground labs/city. As each new generation was born(until they developed the synths), those scientists continued to expand downward and outward(but mostly downward). They grow their own food and product their own power, though not nearly enough to run the place without having to borrow from the surface on occasions. Now as for the OP's question...there's one fatal flaw in the narrative of the game, and that's the ending. I honestly can't see any of the other factions wanting to destroy the fusion/fission reactor that the Institute finally starts up, that amount of power would be needed to improve the surface living conditions at some point, and potentially if they have the one, another could be built on the surface. I also don't see synths replacing all humans, but only certain ones, with the benefit of those being able to guide and prod the surface humans in the right direction. How is it bad that the Institute is trying to come up with better produce to grow on the surface from inside their lab/hydroponics facility. As the leader I would have started sending out more of the scientist to the surface to work with the remaining population on improving their lives, trying to assist them in any way possible by having the synths as helpers. I would have invited Virgil back to continue working on his anti-FEV serum, without all of the unnecessary trials that went on in the first place. Just my opinion of course...and the BoS would have been a problem, the Railroad, I would have worked with them to find an equitable solution, and the MinuteMen would have been good to help keep the peace. -
There's canon and then there's cannon...the question then becomes which is more powerful or believable.

You mean the next DLC that will happen when pigs fly? Or is that the vaporware version of the next DLC? Note - NukaWorld is the end, there will be no more DLC coming from Bethesda.
-
Unless you use robots, in which case they aren't considered "essential" and can be killed, but if you build them right, that doesn't happen either. Or maybe he just wants it to be more immersive?
-
There's a few of them, other than Place Everywhere and the one for Achievements I can't remember the others(I think I have at least 5), but the thing is, you don't even have to disable them since they just won't work without an update, keep them active it does nothing to your saves or active game, just continue playing. The only difference is you either start FO4 via Steam or NMM.

oh you poor poor soul, to live a life where you cant see your olwn legs when you look down, your own body, what a horrid existance to be so obease that anything below the waist is fantasy to you. But my friend i assure you for 99.999999% of the population when we look down we can see our own feet, it really helps putting on shoes, but I can't really blame you if your so obease all you see is rolls of fat and forgot what the wonders of feet actually were. You poor soul. Funny, either you're trolling or you missed the part where I mentioned the CAMERA VIEW needs to be fixed so that you can look straight down(it does NOT currently allow for that level of viewing, at least in placement mode, personally don't look straight down when doing anything else, though I have looked down from the tops of some of the buildings, still not looking at a straight 90 degree angle though, and yes, you are looking down at a 90 degree angle to be able to see your legs and your feet, which I can do in RL, but not in this GAME, in which the angle is closer to 80 degrees without any peripheral vision[of which there is left/right peripheral and up/down peripheral]).

Unfinished quests and check lists
Zaklex55 replied to ninjakreborn's topic in Fallout 4's Discussion
It will list failed quests as well, or at least it did(I know, my first character has a failed quest). -
Not sure exactly what you're referring to, whether it's when you take an item and upgrade it's components(in which case the specific item you upgraded is removed and placed on your character under the Mods category) or if you mean something else, as in when you scrap something using the crafting workbenches(if that is the case, then not everyone experiences this bug[otherwise there's no way I'd have 20K steel in my shared workbench inventory). As for caps, I usually attempt to spend as little as possible until I have an adequate supply to begin with(somewhere around 10k caps is when I start buying things, otherwise it all comes from scrounging, the perks mentioned above and selling anything I don't use).
