About Roun

  1. Look around the forums in general. Count the number of threads that have less than ten replies against the ones that have more. The vast majority of threads on this site, and frankly any other go completely unanswered. And the few times I have been in the Chat-box (between unexplained bans) the only thing people wanted to do was banter about nothingness, not even forum related issues, just a bunch of hens clucking... I have tried a lot of times to make my issues a group effort offering rewards to the community as a whole, and the most I have ever gotten was 3-6 posts, not even aiming at my posts, but usually retorting someone elses reply. Its become so frustrating not knowing anything about the nebula that are mods. Its usually something so simple, 'can i get this one effect and not the other' 'which if these patchs is better?' hell, I cant even get mod makers to read their mail nine out of ten times... Its to the point that i have to just come on here and vent because I have spent the better part of a year just trying to develop a game that I can be happy with and having something interesting to do during my relaxing hours. The irony is that I have spent so many day hours getting nowhere that I might as well just get stoned and be done with it... Its crap like this that drives me to only think about myself...
  2. I have to say that I am really disappointed with people... At first I thought that no one would reply because my requests were too specific or unpopular. Then after several different attempts at trying to be more appealing to people I finally realized what the problem was. The average person on here (and most other forums) are completely smug and self-centered... I can say with resounding surety that the only time I can get back to back posts from anyone is when the mocker and criticizers come out... So whats your excuse?
  3. I see three patches out there for all three but I have no way of knowing which gives the most smooth finish.
  4. Ok... Now I think I understand why people dont like answering my posts but still, its prickish that you go to all the trouble to pose this question and have no one answer... ever... I have a similar project in mind, maybe we can work together to make things better. First of all, I have had experience with Requiem, and it has a lot of good elements but I want to stay away from it simply because its so broad reaching. It tends to want to change everything about the game which I want to do myself in a more controlled fashion. To prefus this I am a Ranger, always have been, always will be, simply in my nature. My top picks Frostfall (Wilderness survival) Refuse to ever play without it. Hunterborn For a much more rewarding hunting and gathering experience. RN&D (Hunger,Thrist,Sleep) An absolute necessity (Pun not intended) if you want to play for realism. These three have compatibility patches floating around which make all three work together very well. (meat from hunterborn works for cooking in RN&D and so on) You have a better hardware setup than I do so you are likely to get a better performance than I ever could, but what I have found is that in order to get the best experience, especially in the wilderness, you need to monkey with your graphics. Go into the advanced tab when the launcher sets the graphics settings. Set the view distance to max on all the sliders, and set the texture quality to low. This way you will be able to see everything before you trip over it. As a Ranger this is an absolute must because I never want to enter a fight within arms reach. It also creates a much better visual experience for immersion and in general enhances the atmosphere. The problem is that its going to demand performance so you have to choose between looks and function. Off the top of my head thats what I have for the moment. Ill add a link to another thread that I am trying to get help through. Sadly people on this site (And most others) are pretty prickish, its really irritating that I can make a thread and come back a week later and not find a single reply. Whats with that? ----------------------------------- This is my present thread (Which no one will visit...) Take a look around. This is my current load order, be warned though, this is far from ready. Active Mod Files:
  5. What about throwing axes? As a Ranger I have explored the tactics and nature of other traditions for Ranger type classes. There are Rangers that will wield a longsword, short sword, duel short swords, flechettes, and a lot of other tactics along side their bow including the bow as a melee weapon. But what I really find interesting is the Apache tradition if Tomahawks. I love the idea of small axes that can be wielded like axes as well as thrown and retrieved. Rather than simply adding a mod to add throwing axes though, I am wondering if there is a mod that will allow the player to throw common war axes... Thanks
  6. Dido on that. I think rather a block should consume stamina and if there is not enough stamina the block fails. So yeah, plus-one on finding this kind of mod.
  7. Something I thought was interesting. I remember on one play through I kept seeing 'packrolls' I dont remember exactly what their name was. Basically it was a backpack type item that would sling over the shoulder like a quiver and fortified carry weight. I see a lot of normal on-the-back packs, but I thought it looked pretty cool. Especially considering I like using capes and cloaks. When I wear a cloak I see the pack on my back but the straps dont exist. I actually wear a cloak when its cold and a normal pack tends to bunch it up on your ribs. Having this 'rollpack' fits together better with the cloaks. So rambling aside, does anyone know where I can find that mod? I would really like to add them to the craft list and to common loot. Thanks. Edit: Oh, and im also trying to find a mod akin to Requiems combat system. I remember from using requiem that damage was psychotically high and just about every blow was critical. I found another mod that does something similar but it doesnt have the same armor effect. In Requiem heavy armor made the player a tank. Which is realistic because plate armor offers a great deal more protection. Pretty much, I want a mod with really high damage and the armor effects from Requiem. Thanks.

  9. Hey everybody! There are actually two things that I am looking for. One is a mod that makes all the leveled lists flat. Basically, every enemy in the game should always be as strong at level one as they are at level twenty. For example, bandits can really only be so strong, so they are usually on the weak side unless its like a higher ranking bandit. While professional soldiers or mercs should be considerably stronger. The other that I am looking for is a mod to make the stat system apply to all characters. For example, if I add a mod that makes the player run slower when wearing heavy armor or the current carry weight effects stamina, all of these effects should be universal not just for the player. So it would be nice to find a mod that could do that. Thanks in advance.
  10. yeah i grew up raising and training with horses, the game is quite a ways off from a real one Wait, this the same qwert who made a dwemer tower in morrowind?
  11. not really, i never used them or companions even back when i was living in the dark ages of unmodded console Skyrim. they actually felt slower in my opinion, you couldnt sneak with them (duh) and trying to use magic and bows are a pain along with horse back fighting being impossible. i dont bother with them, instead i use the portal mod for my long distance journeys. which by the way make a great replacement for fast travel. here's the link if you want to check it out: http://www.nexusmods.com/skyrim/mods/29447/? i guess some of the mods greatly improve them and make it worth it, but i find that they are a waste of money and with my mod (currently in development) that switches out mana for gold... i kinda cant waste any of it at the moment. Well fast travel is not an issue for me, if anything I have found it to be a much greater experience to simple travel everywhere on foot. You see more of the world, you have surprise adventures, survival situations are more enjoyable, so on. Travel really isnt the issue, its more about the general usefulness of having a mount. When looking at Rohirrim from Lord of the Rings or Dothraki from Game of Thrones the prospect of being a horsemen is really profound and exciting. A horse offers you a great deal, mobile storage, beast of burden (which the two are actually different things if you think about it) Even an emergency food supply if the chips are seriously down... A horse offers you speed and mobility in combat, especially on an open field. If nothing else horses are just noble animals and are enjoyable to have around... The problem is that the game is fundamentally flawed...
  12. In my experience, I find horses to actually be more of a liability than a help. Sure they can run faster for longer, and help you carry stuff with the right mods. But in the end I find that I spend more time worrying about whither or not my horse is going to face off with a troll and die in one hit or get bit to death by wolves before I can even dismount... I find horseback warfare to be almost impossible to use, the aim restraint is terrible along with having to be mindful of where you want the horse to run is worse than being immobile on foot. A horse costs too much (For my realism character at least) and are far too difficult to replace (especially when it was carrying lots of loot) so I have always elected to hoofing it wherever I go. Can anyone give me a reason to use a mount?
  13. Just so I understand what your saying. By optimizing the textures it makes them smaller which would allow me to have a higher texture setting in graphics without soaking up ram?
  14. I agree, in that respect I like Skyrealism with its Capacity and Encumbrance modules. They operate together under the principle that you can only realistically carry so much weight, and you can only carry so much on your person without the baggage to store it all. It gives you a base CW of 50 which is MCM adjustable, I want to set it to 20 or 30 because clothing only has so many pockets. Then Encumbrance has a system with a base encumbrance of 100 MCM adjustable. With this you actually have a speed boost of 10% until you get to that amount then it penalizes you for carrying more weight. Look into those systems, it makes the experience much more realistic for looting at forces the player to really think and choose what they want to take rather than just loading everything they find. As for your mod im kind of leery of broad sweeping mods, I have found that using overhauls tends to give unexpected and unpredictable changes. For animals dropping gold and gems, ducks are actually known to eat gold nuggets and hunters have found gold in their stomachs because they look a lot like fish. So it would stand to reason that birds like ducks and some fish would have gold or gems in their belly because they see the glimmer and think its something to eat. This looks like a simple gold weight mod with nothing else attached that I want to run with. One thing though that I need to request from someone is weighted arrows of 0.1lb that actually appears on the item. If the item itself registers as having weight then the Capacity/Encumbrance will treat it as an equipped item and subtract the weight from capacity. From the various mods ive seen I havent seen one that actually dubs the weight to the item itself. And just to be clear, im not putting your mod down, it looks neat on the whole, I am just personally leery of broad reaching mods. For example, you are adding animals, later on I intend to look into animals and get the right build for wildlife. What ever I find for that will likely clash with yours and cause trouble. So if anything I endorse your mod, just not for me specifically.
  15. Hey dudes. I find Vanilla Skyrim appalling... It feels like the lazy kids self esteem hotline... Everything is designed to make the player the center of attention and babies the player so they can essentially finish any part of the game at a low level. I find that not only excessively boring, but an insult to my intelligence... So, I am gathering pre-existing mods to make the bulk of what I am aiming for, and I would hope that someone can help me fill in the gaps. At this moment. Frostfall: Hunterborn: Either Realistic Needs & Diseases or Imps More Complex Needs (havent made up my mind yet) Skyrealism: is an overhaul project that comes in modular forms to let you pick and choose aspects. At the moment im liking the Capacity and Encumberance aspects. Crafting looks good to but im not sure what is the best crafting system to go with. Dead Body Collisions: Professions: Combat Realism: For this I am having some trouble, a huge aspect of Skyrim that is seriously broken in my mind is the combat system. Combat realism works to make all weapons and armor truly realistic where one good hit will kill you or bring you very close to death. Example Combat Evolved: Along with weapon and armor realism AI and behavior are going to be essential. I see this one and like it at face value, but I dont really know what else there is out there. This is one of those 'blind spot' areas that I just dont have the mental where-with-all to investigate without getting light headed and start stressing out about it. For this I guess I just need help from people who have had experience with different mods to help show the way. Faster Arrows: Perks: I have absolutely no idea how to go about altering the perks, I have seen several mods offer overhauls to the perk system and when I look at various mods like the combat overhauls, I really dont know what the perks are going to do when everything is changed. I mean say I like Combat Realism which I think it made perk changes but not really sure. But at the same time I like a mod specifically designed to change perks, can I get both of those to work together? Its stuff like this that give me dizzy spells because I just dont know how to comprehend that kind of stuff. I guess im out of time for the night. Ill be back to fill in more of what ive found later. Basically this isnt me just asking for something, im offering something at the same time. I want to make the ideal game for realism in all aspects. If people dont like my purist ways that fine, dont do everything i say just listen to what I have to say xD. My last thought for the night. Health Stamina Magicka, I saw in Requiem that Health did not regenerate on its own and stamina was more critical in combat. I would really appreciate someone helping me find a mod that makes them realistic, and if they dont exist then I would really appreciate someone making one. I like the notion of Food being not only necessary for life, but then also offering buffs as well, like RN&D had foods that increased health or restored stamina, my favorite was a stew that boosted health and carry weight. The twist was that you could only get those effects outside of combat, which made it more interesting. I guess thats all for tonight, i hope people take an interest in this.
