I use the Nexus mod manager to download and install all my mods for FO4. I was using LOOT to manage load order of my addons when I got a message saying it couldn't write to the plugins file, and I assumed it was because plugins.txt was read only. I made plugins.txt not read only, applied the LOOT load order settings, then made it read only again. Now whenever I load FO4 it wipes the plugins.txt file of all my addons. I made a copy of the file before it wiped so I can add all the plugins back in, but how do I prevent the game from wiping the file so I can use my mods?

So I'm on my second play through and have a lvl 54 specializing in archery, light armor, sneak, and one handed (I also have smithing and enchanting maxed, so my gear is very good). I wanted to go back and start leveling magic skills because I haven't played a mage character yet, but all of the destruction spells seem SO WEAK compared to my archery and one handed. There are no enchants to buff destruction damage, only lower the magicka costs, and regen magicka. I made a new set of gear and enchanted it with full destruction magicka reduction, so mana is not an issue, but the damage output is VERY low. Are there mods that can help with this or is destruction magic just inherently broken and weak? I was gonna download the Midas Magic mod, is that any good and will that solve my problem? I really want to TRY to play a magic-user character, but with it being so weak I don't see the point...

I don't think the flintlocks had projectiles. In the video I saw the bullets had zero flight time. That's not very accurate, but neither are guns in skyrim to begin with. As far as possible projectile models, one might could steal an arrow model (ebony arrows might be the closest), maybe lop off the feathers, and make em shorter. I've seen giant mudcrabs, so I'm sure there's a way to shrink/resize arrows? Then maybe make them travel faster than the normal arrows do to simulate a bullet?

I'll come out and say it: I really want a sniper rifle in skyrim! I know it goes completely against all lore/immersion/common sense, but I really want to head shot people with an anti-material rifle! I've searched online and the best I can find is silly little flintlock pistols. There is a one handed talent that lets you decapitate people, so maybe that animation could be used for blowing peoples' heads off. Bethesda Softworks makes both Skyrim and Fallout:NV so maybe we could take the anti-material rifle models/sounds etc from FNV and put it in Skyrim! I know nothing about modding, so I don't know how hard a mod like this would be to implement, but I think it would be awesome!

played today for about 20 minutes, and got a freeze again. this is really frustrating

I've seen this same problem posted in several different forums. I've seen people with no mods in common have the same freezing problem. However, between when I originally posted, and now, somehow, I stopped getting freezes. Played for 2ish hours two separate times without a freeze. Could just be luck? idk . I'll keep u posted

update graphics card drivers/direct X and all that jazz. Might be good to DL something like SpeedFan to keep an eye on your gpu temps too, couldnt hurt

Recently, I got a new hard drive and did a fresh install of Skyrim. I started a brand new game and have been getting these random freezes. The screen freezes, the music still plays, but nothing else responds. I have to ctrl+alt+delete to close the game and re-launch the game again. Sometimes it happens after an hour or more of playing, sometimes its after just a few minutes. I've scoured the web and found many people with this similar problem but as of yet I have been unable to find a solution!!! Here's a list of mods I'm using: PLUGINS: -Barenziahquestmarkers -UnreadBooksGlow -Lockpicksweetspot -Skyui -VendorsHaveMoreMoney -EnhancedLightingForRealisticLighting -DragonSoulsToPerks MODS: -A Quality World Map - With Roads -Spend Dragon Souls for Perks DSP 1_5 -Swearing Mudcrabs -Vendors Have More Money with Options -Vendors Have Soul Gems I read somewhere that the map mod may cause freezes, disabled it, still got freezes. I've tried disabling a couple mods here and there, and still got freezes. I really don't think it's a mod issue. Someone please give me some sage-like advice and help me solve this, it's driving me nuts!
