  1. I got a few hours out of the game. Then I crafted a bunch of stuff, enchanted it up, and went to flog it in town, and I crahed after spending about a minute talking to the blacksmith in Riften. Launching the game again didn't prompt me for settings, and BOSS can still find the game. So potentially my earlier thoughts may not have applied, although I did manage a few trips to different merchants during the few hours I got to play - so there is some improvement. Any ideas? **************** Appears it was a mod that had been disabled (without me realising it). Rectified. Merchants like me again.
  2. Seems to have worked. Hope this helps anyone else. Will bump if there are any further developments.
  3. Found the BOSS readme suggestion to run the game launcher again. When I did, the launcher seemed to think I hadn't configured it yet. Bug? Running game again now.
  4. Casual gamer begging for help: Have an interesting new crash that just developed. Intermittently/frequently I get a CTD. Seems to be almost a certainty when going into or out of a shop, or trading with any merchant (indoor or outdoor). Load a game, walk to the merchant and open the trade window... within a minute or two I'm staring at my desktop with zero explanation. Managed to play for a good twenty minutes away from towns, but as soon as I went to dump my stuff on the schmuck in town? Welcome back to Windows, there goes all your hard work - enjoy your midnight /ragequit. I tried taking all my stuff off my follower and firing him, thought he might have something to do with it (via UFO)... no change. At a loss what to do next, as I'm not comfortable with the 'dirty edits fixing' thingo (Not very technically minded, and time isn't something I have a lot of around here) Load order: Tried to get my BOSS info, and now it's just thrown this up: Critical Error: No game detected! Check the Troubleshooting section of the ReadMe for more information and possible solutions. Utility will end now. Odd. Was working fine yesterday!!! I had already verified integrity of my local game cache through Steam as part of my earlier troubleshooting, and it re-downloaded some 752 byte file. Just ran it again, with the same result. This has only started happening in the last 24 hours; (I'm level 28 and nothing much has changed). I updated a few mods as part of the troubleshooting, and I *had* moved NMM from the ProgramFiles (due to UAC annoying the stuffing out of me) into it's own folder, and due to it then refusing to download from the website I had to manually install a couple of mods. Potentially this situation could be related. However I've un/reinstalled NMM but it didn't fix the issue. Anyone out there got any ideas? Which mods are likely the culprit? Why would the problem start now? Any obvious things I am missing? Is there a way to do this TEVCleanEdit5 or whatever it is? ...What happened to BOSS??!!? - Taff of Darktime Ragequit from Bugsplat.
  5. Seconded. With an option to view historical release notes, too (in case you've skipped a few releases)
  6. After cracking open my fresh copy of Awakenings, I was disappointed to find that the Wintersbreath (DLC) I had in my hands was gone, despite owning both the vanilla and DLC versions. This, along with a fair few other items (and the runes within) are never to be seen again - as well as all of the good stuff my party members were wearing. After posting here regarding recovery of these items, I'm disappointed to say that I expected better. I don't want to have to reload an old save, painstakingly go back to a merchant and equip my companions with rubbish and carry around 110-odd units of armour and weapons in the Final Battle and do the whole thing all over again. My character was the type to ask for everything back on behalf of Ferelden and the Grey Wardens; so I'd like to at least begin Awakening with a vault full of the crap I'd collected - especially the stuff I hadn't even managed to use yet! (Carefully stored in the party chests). Unfortunately I think this is a huge oversight by Bioware, it's a little ordinary to just leave untidy loose ends like this in a game, considering things like "Winter's Breath" and "Wintersbreath" would have been easy to swap over (to exchange the DLC one with the vanilla one for the player would have been no problem while they were writing the filter code), or in the very least pulling all of the stuff off your old companions and shoving it in a merchant, chest or vault somewhere for retreival. For now, it looks like I'll simply forget about playing Awakening until something gets a little easier in this respect, such as a player mod, a patch, or workaround - mostly because as far as roleplaying goes it's a silly notion that you'd simply wander away without your prized weapon, and secondly because after having a handful of Tier 7 superweapons that I worked very hard for, it's a bit average to now be walking around without anything at all.
  7. Wow, I had no idea that it was that complex. I did have most of the stuff on myself and also my companions, and some in the "party chests" (both the addon and the DLC one). "Continuity be damned!" - Bioware Unfortunately I think this is a bit of an oversight by Bioware, and while I'm not going to have a whole whine session and stamp my little feet, it's a little ordinary to just leave untidy loose ends like this in a game, considering things like Winter's Breath and Wintersbreath would have been easy to swap over (to exchange the DLC one with the vanilla one for the player would have been no problem while they were writing the filter code), or in the very least pulling all of the stuff off your old companions and shoving it in a merchant, chest or vault somewhere.

This, along with a fair few other items (and the runes within) are never to be seen again. All I'd like is a series of merchant at the beginning of the game that you can get any of the special items back from (each selling Light armour, Med armour, melee weaps, runes, etc). Extra points to the mod maker if they are 'free'. I don't want to have to reload an old save, painstakingly go back to a merchant and equip my companions with rubbish and carry around 110-odd units of armour and weapons in the Final Battle and do the whole thing all over again. Anyone out there willing to help, or can steer me in the right direction?
  9. I seem to recall someone a while back mentioning they were making a weapon rack for use in player housing. Is there such a creation? If so, does it show the contents by having them visible in racks? (Munkeenuts had one but is it actually functional?) Next question: Is there anyone out there that could make such a creation to hold your Unique weapons? I am a big hoarder type, and I'm sure other pack-rats like me would love to have something cool to show off - even if it's just to Dogmeat. I have a few parameters that I'd like to outline for anyone that's willing to have a go (I'm not a modder, and both my PC's are unreliable for Fallout 3 anyway (long story). So, no need to read further unless you're interested in actively participating in a development discussion, willing to actually take ownership and develop it, or can point me in the direction of someone who has created something along these lines. The basic idea would be to start with the weapon cabinet that has a cabinet on one side, and the open shelving on the other. There should be a "wall" section instead of this open shelving. For each of the unique weapons in the game, a corresponding set of rests/hooks should be on the wall. Whenever you place a unique weapon in the cabinet, it should automatically place that weapon onto the correct hook for you. It should also automatically "set ownership" of the weapons placed in it, or make them otherwise unavailable to companions that want to pick them up for any reason. You should hopefully be able to retrieve the weapon in two ways: by either taking it from the hook, or opening the cabinet and taking it from there. That's the basic idea. Everything from the Mesmetron to Victory Rifle, Stabhappy to Vengeance should have a place. Of course, that would mean that it would be huge to accommodate the large number of weapons, but this is the price of having fun. Of course, it'd be handy to have additional smaller cabinets that outwardly display what is in them, - a few smaller cabinets done by type (i.e. small guns, big guns, etc) to hold all of the non uniques. Handier if I can remove same if they also rack up like he wall mount, but in a compact fashion (as you find them in the National Guard Armoury - all staked nicely in the racks). If I have a handful of .32 pistols, it'll show one there, and I can keep 'taking' that pistol which adds them one by one to my inventory until I have them all, etc. -- There is also the matter of sets of Mannequins to display your various sets of unique armor too. This is probably more suited to mods that fully incorporate new (and spacious) player housing, but I'd like somewhere to hang my Tribal Power Armor and T-51b / Winterised T-51b, Chinese Stealth Suit and so on. Either have mannequins dressed in it, or stasis fields to hold it would be cool. Could also add a repair bot that repairs it if you feed it scrap metal, fission batteries and tools...
