I just wanted to raise this here because I have raised it on the ea site and sent emails, no reply from anyone - as if I simply dont exist. I want to shed light on something EA is doing that I think is really underhanded. I live in South America, and I literally cannot play with anyone out of the lower half of the continent. The game does not let me find matches anywhere, and when you consider that there are very few players here, and that my countries connection to the majority of the local players (Brazilians) is terrible, it makes for a game that I quite literally cant play. I just thought I'de raise it. I can play Mass Effect 3 without issues, and that MP is uses a similar player hosted formula. I can play all games fine, this is the only one to pigeonhole me down here like I have a disease. I think it's terrible and EA have nothing to say on the matter. I guess there isnt enough people complaining about it.

Hi guys, I really really really dont like the shiny hair in inquisition, is there a mod yet that almost removes it and makes hair look less like those women on shampoo ads? The shine I'm talking about is really obvious with black hair, for example Dorians. Are there any fixes for this yet? Help appreciated.

Hello, is there a way to disable all naturals interior features? During storms (I have enhanced weather's weathers enabled only fyi) in interiors with a lot of windows (especially cathedrals) my fps plummets into the 20's. I just can't stand sluggish gameplay, so I would prefer to completely remove the module, the ini doesnt seem to have anything that turns off the interior features. EDIT: Tested by making a save during a storm, and uninstalling all natural/rebuilding patch etc. With all natural installed, anvil inn looking in certain directions (towards the windows mainly) tanks to around 20 and feels very sluggish, once the rain stops it is still terribly sluggish, but a little better at around 25 fps. With the mod uninstalled I get 56-60 fps solid (vsynced), it doesnt fluctuate. This is a pretty enormous fps impact, why have I never seen warnings about it? Is it the windows? Can I hope to tweak this and see better performance? My pc:- 3570k, 8gb ram, gtx 760 2gb, win 7 Ultimate 64bit

Yeh, this is why I dont use mods that make things pitch black - and why I understand why beth made nights quite bright. It's not that I dont appreciate the coolness and gameplay of dark nights, I do, but I just cant stand the visual glitches that result from it. I dont think it's an engine thing like you say though, LCD's just can't do the subtle changes in tone that are required. My old CRT monitor could (It could do Sheer, Pure black and perfectly blend it to light), and I am amazed that flat screen tech hasn't improved in the 15 odd years since I had that thing - it's about time.

Not sure why I use that term, hehe. What I mean by it is when you see 'banding' instead of a smooth gradient. It's hard to see in the screenshot, but when I was playing it was really bad - especially in the sky and on the dark area near the door on the building to the left. Here's another shot, hard to see anything but if you fullscreen it (hopefully) you'll see the banding, on the tree for example and the wooden planks of the building:- shot I spend so long last night on all this and burnt myself out. Trying all settings, changing brightness, calibrating my monitor. I may just /wrist and be done with it  All of this has even made me think about getting an IPS monitor, argh. It's also made me appreciate just how damn good CDprojekt are, they manage to make games that look outstanding ojut of the box, and have some pretty gritty darkness in them.

Thanks very much for the replies! It is indeed really frustrating. I did indeed try natural lighting and atmospherics and I spent around 5 hours last night fiddling with it and checking it in different situations. The enb looks outstanding much of the time and almost always when there is plenty of light present, but then when things get really dark, or one of the foggy weathers shows up the dithering becomes - for me at least, completely game breaking. It looks like the photoshop 'burn' has been overapplied. It's one of the reasons that I don't like mods that make the game totally dark at night, I dont think LCD monitors can do it, I used to own (many years ago) a CRT - If I was on that thing it wouldnt be a problem, but LCD's/Flat screen just can't do it. I'm not sure if it's my monitor, but with NLaA the dithering issues are really evident at night, for example in this shot that I took last night (I uninstalled pure weather/elfx, this is purely the enb):- Shot - bad dithering in dark areas And, contrastingly, here are a couple of shot where NLaA looks outstanding, and to prove I did really try it properly:- One Two So all in all, the reason I want an enb that just does shadows/aa/af is because default skyrim never looks wrong, it doesnt look particularly good most of the time, but it's never wrong or buggy. I'll keep at it and maybe install the default enb. I tried setting useoriginalpostprocessing and objectprocessing but with NLaA (with NLaA everything became black even at midday, it uses adaption a lot) and Vanilla Enb that didnt work right. I'll try Rudy Enb too, the screenshots look nice, Thanks again!

@bojanni. Thanks, i've been playing with that for days - but its heavily dependant on what mods you have. For example, today I thought I had found the perfect enb with Vanilla ENB, but it seems that this enb makes shadows pitch black in interiors. I have ELFX and Pure Weather, with or without ELFX interiors (for example, the starting dungeon with Alternative start) has pitch black (total blackness) shadows which causes a huge amount of artifacts (monitors cant handle pitch blackness) and turning up your brightness does nothing but make it worse, because if the engine is rendering a total darkness shadow, turning your brightness up doesnt reveal an object, it reveals a grey block of nothingness and it looks horrid. I have been at this for days and I'm getting so disheartened, I wish so much that I wasnt a perfectionist - It's so frustrating. I have calibrated my monitor, tried dozens of mods and different enbs, tried dozens of different ini settings:- Vanilla and no enb = horrble shadows, regardless of settings (Self shadowing - like the shadow armour casts on the body, no trees etc, they are fine). Mods with NO enb (ELFX/RCRN) = Excellent image fidelity and depth, really - it looks very good BUT has HORRIBLE shadows (most evident of sunny clear days). ENB = bugs, artifacts and just bad looking scenes. Looks excellent SOMETIMES, other times/weathers - terrible. Most enb's look good in interiors, but then cause loads of issues outside, or oversaturate, or have terrible contrast (no pure black, no pure white - like you are looking through suinglasses or a sheet of white transparent paper)... any attempt to rectify this terrible contrast (Eg with brightness or monitor brightness/contrast settings) leads to even more issues, and if you fix it like that your screenshots look horrible. This is why I am desperate to find an ENB that ONLY does the fidelity/improvement modifications. It's infuriating.
-
Thanks for the link, i'de prefer to use enb for it though as that mod won't eliminate the terrible self-shadowing in the game (like the shadows armour casts on the body). I have beewn searching for days and still havent found up-to-date information. There is ENBoost now too, which apparently can be used only the basic graphical effects, but like I said - up-to-date info in laymans terms is so, so hard to find. To clarify. I would like to use ENB to enhance the look of the game - AA, AF, Vsync, Sharpening and the big one, Shadow improvements.
-
Hi all, I'm trying to find up-to-date information about using ENB to only improve shadows, sharpening and antialiasing - just the basics to improve the base visuals and remove ugly self shadowning and striping, and can't find anything that seems to be current. Can anyone help? Ideally something very performance concious!

Thanks for the replies, i'll get bashing then!

Hi all, I'm looking for some help as I've been away from skyrim for a while, and since I was here LOOT has appeared and some things seem to have changed. My basic question is, should I make a bashed patch anymore? And should I do the tes5edit merged patch trick too? Np. I can say without a doubt that the mods you are using (on your first pic) wouldnt cause that issue and I expect it has something to do with your install rather than the mods, it's odd. Games all updated right? Good luck.
-
Hmm... well, 2 suggestions. 1. Do you have an xbox controller plugged in? If you do it locks out keyboard controls (with the exception of escape, I think). If you do you can turn off the controller in-game in the options. 2. You loaded the game via SKSE right? ( skse_loader.exe in your Skyrim directory). 3. Try starting a new game and see if it is the same. Other than that I really cant see why your char wouldnt be able to move (never heard of that problem), and I have to go. Hopefully, if its not the controller - someone else can help.

Last step is to run boss again  You've told it what you want it to do, now it needs to do it. You should be sorted now, it's an incredibly simple mod list you've got. Everything will work fine. Usually you only have to do user rules for very new mods that havent been added by the boss team yet (although they have their work cut out for them).
-
Here you go (excuse my shaky hands :D ) PIC
-
One minute, i'll do SS myself on how to do it.
-
Yep, see my edit above.
-
What error does it give? The screenshot looks fine. EDIT: Second pic didnt load till just now. Sure your doing it right? You click 'Create new rule' after putting everything in the boxes.
-
EDIT: Added more stuff to the bottom in case you missed it. Firstly, in the latest unofficial patches something with boss has gone wrong. They used to sort properly but now dont. To fix go to where you installed BOSS and run the BOSS GUI application.... from there click 'edit user rules'. On the right you will see your mods, you need to create 'user rules' for the unofficial patches to load after their masters, its fairly straightforward. For example, drag the unofficial skyrim patch esp to the left, and drop it in the top box - click 'sort item' - click the little drop down box and select 'after', and then drag Update.esm to the right box, and finally click 'create new rule':- This will result in:- Sort 'Unofficial Skyrim Patch.esp' after 'Update.esm' Do this for all the unofficial patches. Load order will be:- Skyrim.esm Active Update.esm Active Unofficial Skyrim Patch.esp Active Dawnguard.esm Active Unofficial Dawnguard Patch.esp Active HearthFires.esm Active Unofficial Hearthfire Patch.esp Active Dragonborn.esm Active Unofficial Dragonborn Patch.esp Active As for the cleaning that BOSS is warning you about, dont worry about it. If you want you can clean the official esp's, this is explained well (In fact, I recommend that you just go to gohpers channel and check out his help videos - great for someone thats just starting to mod, theres a bit to learn these days - but its FAR easier than it used to be).Really dont worry about it where other mods are concerned, often they are intentional. Others may argue that with me but I dont clean other mods (and I dont use badly made ones :D ). Hope that helps. PS: That directory structure will probably cause problems, but I don't know - you said the game loads? Also, you said you 'cant move'? Do you have an Xbox controller plugged in?

Thank you Ishara! I'm going to try my hand at scripting it with your advice. It does sound like it will be quite a heavy script though if the player chages a lot of items? And not across saves no, this would be specific to a players save game:- My idea, in case your interested is to make a mod that builds upon the cool idea of transmute, and fiddling with items at a molecular level. I want to add spells to alteration that can reduce an items weight (Mundane Reconstruction), and also a way for mages to improve weapons and armour through alteration thats scales with alteration skill/or seperate adept/expert etc spells (Mundane Amendment). Anyways, I've got a lot of reading to do :D (This thread can also be considered a request, as someone else may like the idea and want to create it).
-
Hello clever scripters (might be wrong forum, sorry), I'de like to know if it is possible to change an items weight permenantly, in-game and by targetting it. By spell or shout or whatever, anyone know? Thanks

Hi all, Immersive potions needs an update for DB.Is there by any chance already a submod to update it for DB ingredients? If not, does anyone feel like releasing a little submod for it? I ask here because the comment section on the mod is locked. Thanks!
-
Hello all, Is there a way to install the creation kit in a different folder to my default skyrim directory? I ask because there are some script conflicts with SKSE, and the CK takes issue with modded textures. It's also for my own peace of mind, I want to know that I'm modding the vanilla game and not accidentally using other mods assets in my mods. I realise that I will need a second Skyrim install, just dont know how to go about it with steam. Help appreciated.

Hello all! I'm looking for some up-to-date help on using ENB to improve Skyrims vanilla feel. I would like to use ENB for shadows, sharpening, AF, and AA... nothing more. With the option to turn on dof when I want to take screenshots. Help much appreciated! I've looked around a lot for the info and found some solutions, but always with issues as the info I found was old. Thanks in advance!

Hi, thanks for the reply. I should have named it 'compatability check' probably, sorry for the confusion :D That list is indeed sorted already with boss, I really wanted to see if anyone saw anything out of place/compatibility problems.
