  1. the 400 series of GPUs came in right before i started getting into computers, so im not sure how well they handle. that said i do not think a 450 can run Skyrim at High/Ultra. its an older GPU now and at the low end of the line at that. if it was a 480 or something wed be having a different discussion..sorta.

the 7870 in the second rig is much much better. runs cooler and quiter (the 400 series are notorious for running loud and hot) not to mention its a newer series car and a good mid range one at that. i think the 7870 will run Skyrim at at least Hight settings. plus it has the extra GB of VRAM, which will be handy when you start running ENBs and texture packs and whatnot.

The second PC also has an Antec PSU, which i would trust more through the Brand name over Rocketfish, which i havent heard of (if its popular outside of the US I wouldnt know). The RAM in the second Rig is also OCed RAM. though if you dont know how to use the BIOS, the RAM will most likely run at 1333Mhz anyways, because youd have to OC it up to 2133Mhz for it to work in most cases. and to top it off, a nice 60gb SSD for your OS will be very very nice. however, imo, i would see about getting Windows 7 x64 if you can. ive only used Windows 8 a little bit, but i personally dont like it. but this is just a personal preference. and i also like the Case in the 2nd rig better too. again personal preference. I personally have the Arc Midi (bigger brother to the Mini, which is the case for the 2nd rig) and i love it. that said, the Case for the first PC is a highly recommend case as well.

you dont list how much of a price gap these two are, nor your budget. im assuming since you are considering both, that you could afford both. so with that said, i would absolutely recommend the 2nd rig over the first.

Thank you very much for your reply! I would really prefer Windows 7 as well. I hate Windows 8.

Thank you again! I will definitely buy the second computer. :)

I want to run Skyrim and New Vegas on this computer. Both at the highest quality with ENBs and little lag result. Thank you very much.

  3. EDIT:

63.42 mb in the papyrus section....

    Anything to do with that?

^^ If you're saying that your Papyrus log is 63Mb, then you have a big problem. Your savegame is probably terminally ill with no cure.

Edit: scratch that. Just checked the size of my scripts folder, is about 61Mb including the scripts from the CK :whistling:

    There's no way? :/

  4. Ok, im trying to download a mod to change the beginning title screen, and it says to put the files downloaded into C:\Program Files\Steam\SteamApps\common\fallout new vegas\Data\Textures\interface\main

but I dont have that...the only two files I have in Interface is icons and HUD, can someone tell me why this is? Thanks.

  5. First, more manikins will be added around the wastes, some will come to life, and some wont. This would be a little like bioshock, but this would be an amazing mod. Some headless, armless, they would look the exact same as the manikins already in the game, they would just come to life if you got to close.
  6. Ok, I have been thinking. If anyone has ever seen the movie silent hill, I want it to be a lot like this. For instance, daytime would be foggy, and have ashes falling from the sky. (Use a snow mod) and at random times, a siren would go off sounding like this:

    or if you want, this:
    or even this one: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Z2CEJmFFDq4&feature=related

All are freaky. When this rings, it gets very very very dark, and ghouls are spawned all over the place, in huge pairs. Only seeing the glow of there eyes and a faint shape of them, making this scary as ever. If anyone can do this, this mod will receive so many downloads. I have more ideas for this, but I would rather keep it down to the basics to see what people think. Anyone up for this?

If anyone was wondering what I was thinking for updates,it wouldnt be just little weak feral ghouls running around, it would be monsters, like this. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Z2CEJmFFDq4&feature=related

  7. :wallbash: Ok, Im trying to make my own pipboy background and have been using this tutorial:

    1) Download DDS Converter 2 from Nexus

    http://www.fallout3nexus.com/downloads/file.php?id=31

    2) Drag the Blank folder included with the Gold Pack Download onto your desktop.

    3) Open the Blank folder and then open screenglareBLK.psd with an image editing program like Adobe photoshop or Corel Photo-paint.

    4) Add a photograph or paint an image into the file. You can be fancy here and try to make it like a screen, too.

    5) When you've finished, save the file as screenglareYUT.psd (where YUT stands for Your Unique Title). I suggest saving to the Blank folder for now.

    6) Now launch DDS Converter 2, navigate to the Blank folder on your desktop and choose your file. Don't see it? Make sure the field INPUT FORMAT is set to Photoshop (*.psd).

    (No #7)

8 ) Still in DDS converter, navigate to the OUTPUT FORMAT field and choose DirectDraw Surface (*.dds). Now click on the OUTPUT FOLDER button and choose the Blank folder on the desktop.

    9) At this point your selected image should be displayed in the pane on the right side of DDS converter, your INPUT FORMAT should be *(.psd) and the OUTPUT FORMAT should be *(.dds).

    10) Satisfied you've selected the correct OUTPUT FOLDER click the Convert button. A moment will pass and the program will close.

    11) Inside the Blank folder you should now find a new file named screenglareYUT.dds. Copy this file to the desktop and remove Your Unique Title, so the file is now named "screenglare.dds"

    12) Copy this file into:

    Program Files/Bethesda Softworks/Fallout 3/Data/Textures/Pipboy3000

I stopped at 6 because when I open DDS Converter 2, it just takes me to FOMM. I must be simply retarted, but I need some help installing Download DDS Converter 2. Thanks alot.
