  1. http://forums.nexusmods.com/index.php?/topic/2881104-my-truly-difficult-modded-skyrim-setup/ This collection might be just what you need. I use SkyRe instead of the SPERG+Combat overhauls and it's working quite well so far. If I ever decide my character is too strong I can always bump up the difficulty beyond Adept. Taking a break from Skyrim and playing another game is also cool... since one always comes back to Skyrim.
  2. I will definitely give your setup a go in my next playthrough. Also what would you change if you were to use SkyRe? It will be very hard for me to move away from it since I love all the variety it provides. Not just with the perks but the standing stones and race overhauls as well. I *might* have a solution for this but I'll have to do some testing first to make sure. Edit: After short testing: You can change Health/Stamina/Magicka regeneration values with SkyTweak under 'Attributes' tab in the MCM Menu. If set to 0 you won't regenerate at all.
  3. Some of my self-imposed rules depend on the character I'm playing but there are some general ones I always follow: Never fast travel (carriages are fine)Never run unless it's necessary (I use a mod that slightly modifies the speeds of walking/running which makes this manageable, default walking speed is horribly slow)Always stick to the current RP - do what the character would do, not what I wouldOnly carry realistic-ish amount of stuff with me. Main and backup weapon, one set of armor, reasonable amounts of potions/food/misc.Disable most of the HUD - crosshair, stealth indicator, compass, rarely use world map (this one is recent but I like it a lot)SkyRe/Frostfall/Realistic Needs etc. for added immersion and realismHere are for example some of the rules I follow on my current RP, a bloodthirsty assassin with quite a rich backstory I'm not going to bore you with: Only do quests if killing humanoids is involved in the process (might be a few exceptions with the character developing)Avoid combat at all costs unless I have clear advantage (1v1; stealth kills etc.)
  4. Advanturer's Shack looks like just the mod I'm looking for. The Hidden Hideouts are a nice addition I already have installed too. Thanks.
  5. Hey guys. I've been looking for a house mod for a while now without any great result. There are many great mods that add huge estates, castles etc, but I'm looking for a mod where realistically a starting character can move in. While I've found some with good locations and decent backstory behind them (roleplaying etc) most are full of excessive stuff I don't like and don't really fit in Skyrim's other interiors. The mod I liked most but still doesn't fit my playstyle was Hunters Cabin of Riverwood. Nice short backstory, easy for a starting character to obtain. Sort of nice location (I don't use fast travel for immersion). BUT, it's really only suitable for a hunter/archer type of character. I'm looking for a player home an outlaw/assassin/thief would actually live in. Doesn't have to be themed or anything, but preferably it's somewhere in the wilderness near a city where it's hidden from view or has a secret entrance or is an old abandoned tower or the entrance is behind a waterfall or is a cave somewhere etc. All I really need for interior features are a bed, a fireplace/campfire and a couple of safe storage units. Or if there's a mod that overhauls the Abandoned Shack (after the Dark Brotherhood initiation), Alchemist's shack or any other existing building really, in a lore-friendly way so it can be used as a player home. ps: I hope there's a fellow roleplaying fan that understood my ramblings and will point me in the right direction.
  6. Alice, or so everyone called her, because of her stunningly beautiful looks, she looked like the daughter of a Jarl, but she was an orphan barely making her living helping at the farms of Rorikstead, making just enough coin to stay the night at the Frostfruit Inn. Some nights she couldn’t even afford a meal and went to bed hungry. Mralki, the owner of the Inn, found her one night outside when she was just a baby. Someone left her there, with no note. For weeks after that, he asked around everyone in the village, traveling adventurers, khajit caravans passing by, but no one knew where she is from or who might have left her on his doorstep and why. He never took proper care of her, like a mother would, but at least he kept her warm and fed until she could make a living for herself. She started helping the farmers when she was just six years old. When she was fourteen she was so bored with the farm work she just wanted to get away from the village, but the thought of not having a place over her head and a meal she could enjoy before bed was terrifying. A few days after Alice had turned fifteen a couple of hunters stopped by the Inn to have a drink and some rest before heading to Markarth to sell what they’ve managed to hunt last week. She tried to start a conversation with them, asking questions about hunting. It’s something she could do for a living, if they’re willing to teach her a bit about it. With their bellies full and thinking dazed by the mead they told her where their camp was and that she could visit every so often for archery lessons and how to sneak in order to be able to hunt. Since this day every time there she was free she visited their camp for lessons. Soon enough she could kill goats and elks easily. Even small nimble animals like foxes and rabbits could rarely get away. Alice had made up her mind that when she turns seventeen she will leave Rorikstead and start hunting for a living. The hunters she had been hanging out with seemed to make a decent amount of coin. A few days before her birthday, immediately after which she had planned to leave, there was a bandit attack in the village. It was a dark night, but she wasn’t scared, took her sloppy bow she made herself, some stone arrows, jumped out of the window of the Inn and hid in the bushes. The guards seemed to have it all under control until a dozen more bandits showed out of nowhere, it was a full blown raid. It was not often so many bandits worked together and raided big villages since the war had begun. They were scared of the increased number of patrols. She waited patiently for an opening, the way the hunters taught her and she saw one. Two bandits were swarming a single guard who could barely dodge and block all of their swings. She pulled the string as far as her strength allowed, aimed very carefully and released it just as the guard had fallen to his knees and one of the bandits had raised his axe to kill him. The arrow pierced right through his ragged leather armor and he fell bleeding. Until the other bandit realized what happened the guard pulled of a dagger out of his boot, grabbed him by the hand and slit his throat. After everything was over she was laying in her bed thinking about the bandit she killed. Not what would have happened if she didn’t, not what would have happened if they saw her, but how much she liked watching him die. She was still excited and rushed with adrenaline but those thoughts continued through the next week. All she could think about was murder… *a bit of copy paste to complete the story*
  7. Most of the roleplaying stories I've read are: - my parents this - my mother that - my father blah - one night out of the blue they got killed - i'll become a powerful hero to avenge them/a shadow in the night to assassinate their killers/a mighty blablabla I'm not saying it's bad, except for the overly repeated fascination with restoration, it's just pretty common. For a first time roleplaying it's quite decent actually, but you left a lot of details behind like @Boombro pointed out. Some things don't make much sense, but to make a really good story you need a lot of gameplay hours not only in Skyrim but in previous TES games. btw; Live Another Life if you're not using it yet, you should, it's amazing for roleplaying.
  8. Mod list: (sorry for the crappy view, I don't know how to get loot to show only the mod names) The problem is I die in 7-8 in-game minutes (timescale = 6) with the following equipment:- Full standard exposure protection armor- Fur cloak- Torch Frostfall settings: - Classic- W.E.A.R. enabled- Disable fast travel- Exposure rate 1.0x- Everything else is default classic The weather was 'the air is biting-cold'. Race: Ningheim (if it matters) I've played plenty of Frostfall with different characters (mostly Nords, but I very highly doubt 50% Frost Resistance matters THAT much) and have never had this issue. I *might* have started Frostfall twice because there was two Exposure 'abilities' in the Magic menu. I restarted the mod with no results. I did a test on a new character: - Same settings- The air is frigid and deadly- No torch- Full standard protection armor It took about 20 in-game minutes to freeze to death (timescale = 6), so it seems the problem is only on one character. I've tried sleeping it off in case it's alcohol or some other effect with no results. Should I just re-install Frostfall to get it to work properly? Disable/Enable didn't work, I imagine tweaking the exposure rate will work fine, but I'd prefer to play with the original intended settings.
  9. I have the same issue. The only workaround i've found is a desktop download manager which resumes broken downloads. I use 'download ninja'. Keep in mind that if you have slow connection you might not be able to download bigger mods. It took me about 5 restarts to download the apachiihair and I have a pretty decent one. Sorry for any mistakes, I'm typing from my phone.
  10. @Jannifer That's most of the things I needed to know, thank you! I really want to see a video, but I guess I'll have to delve deep into the archives of youtube to find one. @Oubliette Thanks for the input. I would definitely love to start from scratch and not bother with presets, because you know... practice makes perfect. But practice without any knowledge would be like banging my head against the keyboard hoping a good character will appear before me out of thin air  I'll give it a shot later today, thanks again!
  11. Basically what the title says. I've been tinkering with it for about 4 hours with nothing close to good results. I guess the perception of proportions is not my cup of tea. Although I have gotten some decent-ish results in the past, I'm pretty sure it was pure luck or something... The best I could ever hope for is videos of people making good looking characters /mods or no mods, doesn't matter/. I came across a thread with some tips here on nexus, but it wasn't much help, unfortunately. I'm mainly looking for female human race characters with similar results: Thanks! PS: Characters must be made with racemenu.
  12. Hi guys! I'm looking for a alternative crossbow animation. The only thing I've found so far is Enhanced Animation, but it's not modular and I don't want the whole pack. Any ideas? Also, what textures and mods are used for this character? It's mainly the face I'm interested in:
  13. I very highly suggest to use Mod Organizer over NMM. There are plenty of tutorials on it on youtube, has most of the tools you'll need to run modded Skyrim integrated (TES5Edit, LOOT etc) and it's pretty easy to use. / /
  14. Did you really have to keep that argument going? Apperantly I've missed the 'last me for years' part. Let go.
  15. I was just suggesting a budget alternative. If the guy has the money to go nuts on a PC, sure why not.
