Alternate Start Revamped has a lot of options: http://www.tesnexus.com/downloads/file.php?id=3973 This is my favorite alternate start mod. It gives you the choice between the vanilla prison start, any of the buyable houses with different levels of economic security (starting money), a poor person in a cave, or a ship in Anvil. You can walk around the whole ship, and it has a selection of iron and leather armor, iron weapons, some scrolls, soul gems, food, liqour and a lot of clothes for your character to choose from. The main quest does not come to you in a dream, which would be stupid: it invalidates the reason to play an alternate start mod if the main quest still comes to you. But rather you you have to look all over the place for it. Skip the description so you do not know how to trigger the main quest ;). Give this a look.

One thing that really disappoints me about the Shivering Isles expansion is that the music is exactly the same as the main game. I know that is how it was in Morrowind with Mournhold and Solstheim, but the music in Morrowind was more versatile. It could work in the frozen wilderness of Solstheim and the radiant glory of Mournhold, because it was so lush and varied. The soundtrack in Oblivion is more limited in this respect; it only fits in a straight-up fantasy environment like Cyrodiil. It does not work for the Shivering Isles, which is more dangerous, mysterious, and alien than Tamriel. This is the realm of insanity and dementia, and the music is too pleasant and does not foster unease of the mind. Can anyone give me some pointers about how to make it so I have the original Oblivion music, and a separate custom music listing for Shivering Isles? The result being I am in Cyrodiil on the island that portals me to Sheogorath's realm, and when I am in the Shivering Isles, a completely different soundtrack plays in this realm, and going back and forth between the two yields two different musical sounds between both realms. I have manually replaced the entire soundtrack before, but I would like to know if what I am proposing is possible. On a related note, can anyone help me with making it so I can select a particular set of music tracks that play when I enter a temple?

Do'h! That's right; I remember now. Like that whole Morroblivion thing. My bad. I guess I could try to figure it out my self, though...

Would it be possible to have giant scorpions in Oblivion using the Fallout 3/New Vegas Radscorpion model and animation put into the TESCS? I think it would be cool to have giant scorpions on the Cyrodiil/Elsweyr border and have some desert area added to that portion of the map. Maybe a small Khajiit village where they need help from marauding scorpions. You battle some attacking the village and kill them, then you need to find the source: a cave that has baby scorpions and massive, heavily armored ones. After slaying them, you find a bunch of rich stuff and eggs, so you get a replenishable supply of scorpion poison (along with droppable poison glands from live scorpions still roaming about) that the village healer can collect and put into vials that are expensive, but really potent. But most importantly... I REALLY want to battle two giant scorpions in the desert while the Coheed and Cambria song "The Suffering" blasts from my speakers. Watch the music video and it will make perfect sense. ...Probably. ^_^

Which is exactly what I want! There it bugs me how there are absolutly no mods dedicated to cool looking Orc armor. NONE. I can see some cool looking armor that combines Warhammer/LotRs styles. The Warhammer armor is very spikey, so if they did not have their weapons they could body-check opponents. One thing I'd like to see on the armor; in the LotRs movies, the Uruks and the Morrannon orcs (the image of Gothmog up above, the Orc with the stunted left arm) is that their armor was not armored on the back, because they were not expected to run from a fight. I have always liked that touch in the movies. If you start this mod, could you keep me updated? Thanks for your response, no one was giving this suggestion the time of day. Not even a token response. PS Take a look at his image:

I finally installed ROM, which I have excitedly been wanting to play for quite a while. It's just that it makes Orcs and Nords HUGE; like, bloated and unrealisticly proportioned. I hated it when was a single mod like in Real Orcs and I hate it here. I just can't stand to look at my character; it's like he'd topple over panting and sweating after swinging his battle axe a couple of times. Is there any way to disable this?

I imagine that there could a work around. First, all vampires are made immune to all standard weapons but silver; then make silver, Daedric and enchanted weapons extremely rare and expensive. I plan on installing OOO and Revised Oblivion Mod (ROM). Since both of those emphasize realism and danger, having vampires more dangerous than standard NPCs would make things even more perilous. As an aside, I absolutly *HATE* how Dwemer, Daedric, and Glass weapons and armor are apart of levelled lists, as opposed to having to find them scattered around dungeons and ruins like in Morrowind. So, basically, if there is a mod that alters vampire immunity, removes Daedric, Dwemer, Glass and enchanted weapons from leveled lists and is compatible with ROM and OOO, I'll be a very happy bunny. PS, Furthermore, why do Dremora's leave corpses, now? Morrowind had a nice excuse to not have them dropping Daedric armor left and right. There should be a mod that makes their corpses turn into those egg things. It probably has something to do with killing them on the planes of Oblivion, but still...

I was thinking the same thing. I know that the vanilla game has it so vampires have 50% resistance to normal weapons for balance reasons, I just think that having more weapons that are effective against vampires sort of ruins the feeling of being a powerful Creature of the Night. I think Bethesda should have done it like this: vampires are only weak against silver and (and possibly Daedric, but that should be extremly rare) and you are radomly assualted by vampire hunters armed with silver.

Are there any mods where vampires can only be killed by silver? I tried google searching and going on tes and planet elder scrolls, but no dice. I am using Alternate Start Revamped and StarX's Vampire Deaths standalone by HellsWake, and when I start as a poor person in the cave there are two vampires there. I can kill them both with an iron dagger. That... is impossible. Any existing ones?

I've looked high and low on the internet, so I'm sure there is not a mod like this that I am suggesting, so here goes: I am really bugged by the lack of armor that I am satisfied with my Orc character wearing. Nothing I have in the game or from a mod really looks good on him. The only armor I think works for him is Leather Armor with a Light Iron Shield, but that's Light Armor and does not seem to fit a mercenary/warrior style character. I do like the Orc Armor in the game, it's just that it always looked too elegant, too shiny. I am not suggesting that the vanilla Orc Armor be completely replaced, just that there is more options in addition to that. Sort of like a companion to the RealSwords: Orc module. My reasoning is thus: the Orcs have been spurned and ostracized by the "civilized" races of Tamriel for generations, and in recent years earned a place in the Empire. The Orc armor seen in the game is made by the finest Orc armorers based off High Elven designs. But what of the centuries where the Orcs have been forced into a nomadic, tribal way of life, or those living in the modern era, those who are either bandits, mercenaries or soldiers who prefer the armor of their kind (as in, armor that is based purely on Orc sensibilities)? A style of armor that is based on the barest of necessity, with function prevailing over form; armor that is not pretty to look at, but can take a lot of punishment. I imagine the armor as looking like the various armor from the Lord of the Rings films. The armor that is built from whatever is at hand I.E., pounded iron plates plus salvage from defeated enemies. I know that there is a Uruk Hai armor and race mod, as well as a Lord of the Rings conversion coming out down the line, it's just that I do not want a mod that has elements from a completely different universe. I don't want a mod that has a portal to some other universe, or has weapons/armor/characters that do not exist in the ES universe walking around Cyrodiil. I just want a mod that gives me Orc armor types that *could* exist in the ES world, that just happen to have a similar aesthetic to the LotR films. Orcish Plate Armor (Heavy) Armor favored by frontline troops. Similar to the Uruk Hai heavy armor (in The Two Towers, at the Battle of Helm's Deep). I think the biggest difference should be the inclusion of armored pants and greaves, as well as the forearms being completely covered. I imagine there could be clipping issues with the armored gauntlet, or the left gauntlet IS a shield and can block with it. Image URL: http://www.wetanz.com/assets/Uploads/lotrurukhaiarmour.jpg Orcish Leather Armor (Light) Armor favored by bandits and skirmishers. Basically just leather armor but with some iron add-ons (preferably with pants, see image). Maybe not so jagged and spiky. Image URL: http://1.bp.blogspot.com/_d-N1ING5g6M/RnCZ_YftxFI/AAAAAAAAAEE/hzRRviwZX78/s1600-h/01_Uruk-Hai-Leader_Detail.jpg (Art by Jeff Murchie) Orcish Infantry Armor (Heavy) Standard rank-and-file armor. Layered armor, sort of balanced for anyone wading through heavy combat with a shield. http://3.bp.blogspot.com/_u81gIbRKAvI/RaXus790BfI/AAAAAAAAAA0/kOobT5TLd00/s1600-h/P1010580.jpg In conclusion, if I could model and texture the armor myself, I would. I just hope someone reads this particular request and decides to work with it. There is a dearth of rugged, warrior style armor. Most armor mods favor sleek, anime-esque armor, pointlessly revealing armor for women, or simple stat or texture changes, none of which are what I am looking for. Thanks for reading, sports fans.

I deleted all the files! There are NO ESPs in the Data Folder or anywhere else on my computer, they are just there in the ESP select screen. I guess they are somewhere on the computer, I just don't get why I can't find them and delete them. BTW, my copy of Oblivion is the Game of the Year Edition, if that makes any difference... Thanks for the help though, I'll try reinstalling it in a different location...

When my Oblivion data folder gets crowded and I want to freshen it all up by clearing out ESP files, I uninstall it then reinstall the game (I have a lot ESPs, and I have been starting from scratch on a lot of my games, so I feel that's the easiest route). But when I go into the Oblivion Launcher and go into the menu to check off the ESP files (after reinstalling), they are still in there from my previous game, even if THERE ARE NONE IN THE DATA FOLDER ITSELF. I looked into my User/Appdata/Local/Oblivion folder (I did that before and deleted ESPS that way), but there is nothing in there! WTF?! I even type the ESPs file names into Search on my computer, and nothing comes up. Can anyone help? ps Huh, I just noticed the topic title is misleading and incorrect. My bad...
