  1. well, i know it is not a mod-related problem, i have definately detected this to be the reason i have described above. i always had this problem, so i used to limit the sizes in the ini file so i stay under the "maximum" of 1,7gb. and yes i have shivering isles and the latest patch for it as well. the funny thing is that i tried a clean install of the game with shivering isles + patch on another machine so i could get a "real" original, patched exe-file - but it stays some old version, even after patching. i dont understand why .. maybe somebody knows a source where i could get this patched, original exe file, so i can test if it is that problem?   2. ================================= *Please be aware that the patch may produce undesirable results if used on an altered or modified Oblivion.exe file. ================================= maybe the 4gb patch does not work because i had been using a cracked exe for oblivion? i have the game originally but years ago i got too lazy to always insert the disc, then got a crack. now i tried to install the game on another machine and patch the game so i could get my exe file i need. but i cant get it to the version 1.2.0416, only 1.2.something lower but i have done it right: first install game, restart, make a savegame, then install shivering isles which has a patch for oblivion too, and then install shivering isles patch. but maybe its not the exe file which causes the non-working 4gb patch after all... please help!
  3. thanks for the hint. i have already had the 4gb patch but i cant get it to work. i downloaded osr again, new obse, new 4gb patch, and this time i patched only the oblivion.exe not obse.exe. its still not helping. i have windows7 ultimate 64 bit, might that be a problem ? i also changed the suggested values in the osr.ini file, and maybe the game crashes now a little bit later (2gb not 1,7) but still they say, it should be able to use up to 3.8gb which is not the case for me. any other suggestions?
  4. thank you for the suggestions, but i am using those game stability mods already, and wrye bash too, of course. its not a problem with load order or conflicts, because as long as the game doesnt hit more than 1,7gb i rarely get a crash (almost never). its not random crashes
  5. hi guys, is it normal that oblivion will crash when it hits more than 1,7 gb of ram, even though i use a 4gb "patch"? if no, how can i avoid this problem? in order to avoid this, i have been using low uGridDistantTreeRange, uGridsToLoad etc. maybe there is a better solution? my system is rather high-end, and its definately the game not the machine that makes the crash. i have to admit that i have a big bunch of mods, though (qarls texture pack, better cities, unique landscapes and so on). edit: i have streamline too, its good, but the problem persists as described.
  6. i rather alter the load order myself with wrye bash. deactived them all in obmm, and actived them in the right order, then changed the load order so its correct, then ran tes4lodgen and GUESS WHAT its all working now :) thank ye kind sir!
  7. ah ok, indeed, i had BC installed before UL. so, can i "uninstall" them with obmm, and then install them in the right order, correct? and after that, run the other thing of course
  8. hey, i have some issue with cheydinhal's better cities, and cheydinhal falls from unique landscapes compilation (both omod-installed). both have been working fine, and i know this is an issue with the load order. the issue is the following: If i let xulCheydinalFalls.esp load before all the Better Cities.esp stuff, i get the following: http://img802.imageshack.us/img802/6427/issue1.jpg if i let Better Cities.esp stuff load before xulCheydinalFalls.esp, i get the following: http://img263.imageshack.us/img263/1699/issue2v.jpg so my problem is that i cant change the load order so that both issues would be solved, because in the first case, the city is ok, but the outside landscape is not. in the second case, the city has the issue, but the outside lanscape is ok. how can i fix this ??? my load order: http://img833.imageshack.us/img833/4164/loadorder.jpg i had this problem with other cities too, but they were all fixed when i changed the load order so that all .esp's from better cities loaded after all the unique landscape .esp's. but for this case, it doesnt help :( i am sure my installation with omod etc. are fine, because i have no errors, no crashes, no "wtf i am a missing mesh!" etc. all other cities and landscapes are ok, but not here.
  9. yes!! thank you for your tip Hickory - it was indeed a file in the obse/plugins - it was "EnhancedMusicControl.dll". i tried around moving this and that in and out and suddenly it worked! i loaded back all my mods - game working again! thank you!
  10. isnt that paradox, if a mod relies on obse, and i use obse, then it should rather work than cause a crash. and why remove everything, when i have everything disabled anyway ? How is it a paradox? You state that if you disable all of your mods and run the game from the OBSE loader, after installing the latest version, the game crashes. What does that leave to check but the OBSE plugins? If you wan't to leave them in, feel free to do so and I will bow out. hmm. maybe. maybe u are right, but ... do u have any idea how many mods i have? thats work for many hours .... ouch. but thx for the idea. i might even try it, if everything else fails ...
  11. ofc no steam version. i have every master enabled. the list of mods will not help you, as i said before its not a matter of the mods.

  13. hey guys, i didnt play my oblivion game for 2 months or so, then i thought i just start again. i tried to load my last savegame like always, but while and / or after loading, the game always crashed. ok, i thought, maybe 2 months ago i installed some mod wich was not compatible with the rest, but this is definately not the case. long story short: after experimenting around, i have found out that even vanilla oblivion (every single mod disabled) lets the game instantly crash, !!! as long as i start it with OBSE !!! with "normal" game.exe game turned out to work fine (except for the fact that many many mods wouldnt work this way since they require obse). what a strange thing to be, i downloaded the latest obse (v20 or something, had v19 before). installed it, no effect. i am 100% sure that i have installed obse correctly. before i stopped playing for 2 months, the game was running fine (except for some random crashes cause i have too many mods active anyways). i even moved my edited .ini file so the game would create a new, clean one on the next startup. which it did, but it didnt help, though. so: do you guys have any idea how to resolve this problem? it seems to be an OBSE problem since anything else was not the matter. and i really wonder why this problem turns up, when i didnt change anything with the game or the content. i have still the same hardware, operating system, didnt change nothing. i ran out of ideas how to solve it. maybe u guys can help? :) cheers
  14. basically your idea is good. but i must admit that i am a noob with the CS; all i can do is add ncp's to the worldspace with drag and drop once i created them. maybe, if it is not too much work, some1 could do this for all who have the problem with this shield i have. that would be soo awesome. :)
  15. yea, i tried changing that setting in the obmm, no effect. i once had an icon as well, for the shield in the inventory, when trying around, though the real texture never appeared. i guess u cant get it to work as well, eh ? hmm, the author maybe should release a new, cleaner version. but very funny that for all the others that commented there it seems to work just fine.

  17. hi, i recently found the mod "roman scutum" and i tried to install it, as it is descripted in the readme file. http://www.tesnexus.com/downloads/file.php?id=32953 first time i went ingame the shield was not there. the esp was activated ofc. as u can read from the comments, the author of this mod tried to help me, so i tried the following things: - disabled all other mods. - adding it by console. - then the author was so nice to add an optional esp so u could buy it from the stonewall shields merchant. when i bought it there, the shield had only purple (missing) texture. - i manually pulled the necessary files into the correct folders. - i tried to use either 1 of the esp, then both together. - i changed the capital letters of the files and tried around. - i created an omod of the mod. - i tried several savegames. i have no more ideas for troubleshooting. all my other mods (around 100) work just fine, no conflicts, correct load order, and so on. maybe my system causes the trouble? windows 7 ultimate 64 bit intel core i7 920 6gb ram asus 6pt zotac geforce gtx 470 WD 1TB hdd for oblivion i have the latest oblivion patch, shivering isles, shivering isles patch, OBSE, OBMM, and some other minor improvements using OBSE. so, what could possibly be my mistake? please help me as i desperately need this cool shield :) cheers!
  18. i installed it now in a new folder /desktop /oblivion -> and CS as well as oblivion work again! thanks! 1 last question though: can i install facegen again without ending up with the same bug?
  19. no, the game is in /program files (x86) / bethesa softworks. u think that installing it in an extra folder can prevent this bug? trying it then, thanks.
  20. hi, i recently installed oblivion on a fresh system, with shivering isles + patches, wyre bash, obmm, CS, and facegen. now i wanted to import a facegen file to the CS so i could create an npc with the imported face. but whenever i try to run CS, it freezes at "loading facegen files". ofc i tried to uninstall it, then the facegen, vice versa etc. removed the ini from the cs manually, nothing helped. oblivion does not start as well (using the latest obse ofc). i found a thread from another forum where some1 else has the exact same matter: http://www.silgrad.com/wbb2/thread.php?postid=90485 though he fixed it by reinstalling windows, which i definately wont. so, how could this be fixed? i dont want to reinstall windows because of some stupid bug, really .... :verymad: regards

  22. thank you for your fast reply, Jenrai! indeed, it looks like i will have to make a clean re-install of the game. but it really doesnt bother me that much because, if everything works properly, i am the happiest person ever. the best tip propably is to convert all mods into omod, that can save a lot of troubleshooting i guess. also, i have found bben's articles, and i believe he has an article about the perfect re-install somewhere, i just gotta find it. i didnt mention but sometimes my game randomly crashes a way only plugging the computer out can help (: so, i will just make a clean re-install and follow a guide i still didnt find yet :D thank you again! regards
  23. hi guys, i have a few problems, and i can't find the solutions for them. adamus philida was not spawning in leyawin for the dark brotherhood quest "permanent retirement" so i teleported him with the console to myself. he still was essential, so i made him unessential, and when i killed him, literally nothing happened. neither the quest triggered, nor any guards in range told me i was arrested, though i had 1k bounty. when i talked to any guard, he said the "stop criminal! ..." stuff, and when i say "resist arrest", and he says "then pay with your blood!", the game crashes. now i tried to find out if any of my active mods could cause this problem. after i have deactivated EVERY mod but the one for my race, they still dont approach when i attack or kill a guard, but at least the game doesnt crash when the dialogue ends with "then pay with your blood!". still i would like to fix this, and i really dont know what causes it (i also tried deactivating omods, without any effect). out of curiousity, when all mods were deactivated, i tried to resume with the arena quest. but still all that owyn the blademaster says is "ok, so u did it again. ..." and he wont proceed with the quests either. is it usual that after deactivating a mod, its content may be still ingame? after i had deactivated every mod, i still had my blade from an alrdy deactivated mod ... what is it that causes these problems, it looks like it is not a mod ? maybe i messed up the oblivion.ini ? since it looks like the major issue is with quests, starting a new game would do ? it cant be the load order, right, because after deactivating every mod, there is nothing to be loaded anyways? or is the only way to try a clean re-install of oblivion ? how can i prevent things like this in the future ? i am very thankful for any kind of help :) regards
