  1. *** Quick Update *** Just got a legitimate link from one of the Nexus staff (DrGrimm) for a link to the RAD Game Tools site, the folks that created (and maintain) Bink. They have a free version of their program that you can download and fiddle with for creating / compressing and - most importantly - playing video files, the key component of which is your missing bink32.dll file. Head on over to www.radgametools.com, follow the links for the Bink Video player (Rad Video Tools), and you'll be wandering the hills of Cyrodil again in no time. Hope this helps. Sincerely, NR
  2. Howdy, Ms. Tracy... **tips hat politely** Sometimes, when you uninstall a game or program, bits and pieces of it never actually GET removed. (The Windows registry is notorious for hanging onto all KINDS of things). That being said, if you've removed your original Oblivion install through Steam and have installed it fresh from your anthology disc into a NEW directory, then - theoretically - the game should run just fine. My guess would be either your new install has a small glitch (such as using the same install directory as your Steam version did), or the bink32.dll file is "old" and thus didn't overwrite the one currently on your system - hence your Oblivion's inability to recognize / use it. Assuming you're running under Windows 7, try going into the Control Panel and using the built-in "Add / Remove Software" option to uninstall Oblivion; followed by deleting the main game directory created when you did the new install. Then install it again using something simple like "C:\Games\Oblivion" without the quotes and see if the game will load and run properly afterward. We might end up having to tweak your registry in order to get Windows to look in the right place for the bink32.dll - but one way or another, we'll get you back up and running. Best wishes, Eric (NexusRanger)
  3. Okay... I hope this is the best place for this, 'cuz it's a weird one. I logged in a bit ago as per usual, cleared the "Remember Me" option (security freak), checked the "Sign In Anonymously" box, got the main page, middle-clicked on the chat button up top and proceeded to agree to the ToS and entered main chat. So far, so good. What's been happening is, I can't seem to stay logged in. Whether refreshing chat, going to my main page tab and trying to check messages, or even just logging out from the main page and logging back in, I've gotten this error messages respectively: "Oops! Something went wrong! [#CHAT-02] You do not have access to our chat room. Need Help? Click here to log in Our help documentation" - OR - "Oops! Something went wrong! [??? - Didn't get a Cut & Paste of this one] You do not have access to our [message system]. Need Help? Click here to log in Our help documentation" - AND - "Oops! Something went wrong! [#2012] The link you followed to logout appears to be badly formed. Please go back and click the link again. Need Help? Click here to log in Our help documentation" And, like I said, NOW I can't get the silly thing to repeat itself. :P NOTE: Before this post, I also tried with both the check boxes BLANK, as well as just "Remember Me" checked. End results were all the same.
  4. ^ The rabbit has taste... Thankfully, I'm a vegetarian. ;) Nicely done, Soul.
  5. Waterlowj - Arena is also available as a free download from Bethesda as well; even comes with a .pdf file for setting it up under DOSBox. :D
  6. Also, not sure if this has been mentioned yet or not, but I'm fairly positive I've seen some user-made mods & adventures for Daggerfall (with links) mentioned in the DF section of the UESP wiki, along with patches / fixes. These are for the original DOS-based release, mind you - so if you're not into its current form, Dagger XL might be the way to go. :)
  7. Um... yeah. Hey, glad we could help! (just kidding ;) ) Seriously, though, having seen your recreation of Narsil, I'll bet there's a serious bunch of people looking forward to your matching scabbard. :D Congrats on figuring out the issue all by your lonesome, Isilmeriel, and hoping to see both mod (and screenies!) on the Skyrim Nexus soon! :woot:
  8. @ ebony_ivory Well, since I couldn't mod my way out of a wet paper bag, I shall make myself useful by enthusiastically applauding your efforts instead. :D
  9. Lunytic - Yep, it is. I just needed to clean my glasses is all.
  10. BStonkus - Oh, yeah... I forgot that one. :D I never fast travel either. Not only do you miss out on encounters, but you don't get to enjoy the massive, virtual world around you.The one exception I might make to this in my next Morrowind play through is "Abot's Silt Striders" and "Boats", which now offer real-time, in-game, fully animated means of traveling! :D When in Oblivion, I either buy a horse or drive these Hush Puppies (shoes) I got on. ;)
  11. Hey there, Vince... While I can't play Skyrim at the moment (Steam no likey dial-up), I wouldn't say you need to worry about seeing a psychiatrist just yet. ;) Truth is, if folks were satisfied with every BGS title to come out "as is", we wouldn't have a thriving modding community cranking all manner of quests, races, weapons, armor, homes, animations and numerous other tweaks & goodies to make playing the game(s) more enjoyable / fulfilling. Were this a pencil-and-paper RPG and I your game master, I'd say your in-game actions were suitably creepy for a heartless assassin devoting himself to the worship of a "Death Goddess", and reward you experience points and "in-game recognition" accordingly. When playing Morrowind or Oblivion, I frequently use the mouse to "nod" or bow my head slightly in recognition / deference to important NPCs or those who call out friendly greetings as I walk by, simply because the game doesn't allow me to interact with them in a more natural manner. When I have a house, I move things around on occasion (redecorate), take a bath (go for a swim), put away my weapons and armor before sleep, collect books and rare bottles of wine, etc. - essentially doing things I would like to do if I actually "lived" there. So are you taking the game a little too seriously? Naw. So long as you're an equal opportunity roleplayer - investing yourself to the same degree, whatever character you play - and "What happens in-game, stays in-game", I don't think you need to worry about renting a room at the local looney bin anytime soon. :D
  12. Iv000 - Now that IS good news! :D And in the meantime, we'll have the upcoming release of "STALKER Complete v2.0" to tide us over until the new game comes out. Ahh... I feel the need to blow the dust off my survival gear and prepare to venture out into The Zone once more. Time to... "Get out of here, Stalker."
  13. Here, Here! :D A resounding, enthusiastic, "I second the motion!" for my part - especially when you're talking about skill books! While I can't play Skyrim myself (yet), this very same issue plagues Morrowind and Oblivion as well. And nothing's worse than being a cat's whisker away from getting your full set of stat bonuses you've worked so hard for, only to have that one skill point mess the whole thing up. :P After a hard day's adventuring, I wanna drag myself home, kick off my virtual boots, go for a quick swim (a.k.a. a bath), read that last important skill book by the roaring fire and wake up well-rested, refreshed... and one level higher. ;) Hey - that rhymed! :D P.S. This is under "Mod Requests", isn't it?
  14. I guess, for me, it would depend on how much the game remained "true to form". That is, how close to the gloomy, creepy, downright scary atmosphere remained intact - as with the original. Were another studio able to obtain the IP / license and produce a new game with those key elements intact, along with the ability to mod, the franchise might still have a chance. In the long run, though, the real problem may not be who develops it, but rather how to keep things "fresh" without straying into the realm of "been there, done that." :(
  15. My apologies, Ms. Myrmaad. :( Not trying to make more work for the head honcho OR his trusted staff - honest!
  16. That's up to Dark0ne at this point, since this is HIS website. And as he has taken the time to respond personally to this thread, you can bet he has all the details of the previous circumstances at his fingertips. My advice? Send him a VERY apologetic PM regarding your other account, or simply ask him nicely if he'll let you stay using the one you have now. Since this thread isn't currently locked - and you're still here - he may be feeling generous enough to give you the second chance you've asked for under your "skyrimuniverse" handle. If that's the case, take it, say "Thank You", and stay outta trouble. Second chances are a very rare thing here - don't blow it.
  17. You should go to this thread... I Got Banned - Now What? and click on this link... Unban Request Or simply read the first post by Buddah - it will tell you everything you need to know about the appeal process. Good Luck...
  18. Seeing as the kindly Admin known as The Vampire Dante has already graced us with his presence once in response to Taekra's comment, let us not tempt him to shut down the thread entirely by "feeding the trolls", shall we? :ermm: Move along, folks... there's nothing to see here.
  19. I, too, hope the company can "hang in there" and find some unbiased investors looking to make their first big PC title; someone who doesn't already have ties to the industry and thus think the game needs to be completely changed in order to make money. Ugh. :yucky: In a slightly off topic note, I hear the release of an updated "STALKER Complete" is due out soon. While not a brand new game, it might generate enough interest and excitement about the ORIGINAL title(s) to help the GCS folks get back on their feet and finish STALKER 2! :)
  20. Hmm... Well, the first thing I would ask is where exactly you were planning on downloading this thing from? YouYube is notorious for "less than authentic" videos, so I applaud your caution. I'm unaware of any one mod specifically called "Morrowind 2011" - though I freely admit the world wide web is a big place. Mostly, this is a tagline used in reference to a thread started by our own Povuholo on the Bethsoft Forums - though I think his own word, "Tomorrowind" is far better. Tomorrowind Povu's thread is actually a compilation of mods designed to bring MW "up to date" graphically and sound-wise, with (mostly) reliable links for downloading them. There are two additional threads of a similar nature: BTB's Morrowind Mod List, and the Morrowind Modding Guide over at Something for Nobody. Note that I can't give you direct links to either of these sites, as both contain a fair amount of profanity and are thus considered inappropriate for younger users / Not Safe For Work. A final possibility is the video you watched was actually called "Morrowind_2002_vs_2011". This particular clip was composed and posted by Vurt, a well-known and respected modder in the community who specializes in landscape overhauls (trees, grass, etc.). The video in question makes use of Version 2 of all his current mods, as well as the "Morrowind Overhaul Sound and Graphics v2.0" mod. This is most definitely the "real" thing. You can find the MOSG2.0 mod here. Be aware that the the mod consists of a FOUR (4) part .rar file; 3 @ 410MB and 1 @ 395MB. You will need a seriously high-speed connection to pull this down in any sort of reasonable time, as well as a huge (or non-existant) bandwidth cap. Also - be sure to scroll down and read the Pre-release steps! on the same page. This tells you the 3-4 additional files you will need to download or already have on your computer to insure a clean, trouble-free install. Finally, grab a copy of the "MGSO_Installguide.pdf" to glance over while you're downloading / extracting said mod.
  21. I used to have Suspended - complete with the game board, all the playing pieces, the neigh-impossible-to-find "Face Mask" collector's box... *sighs* To think what such a thing would go for these days on eBay makes me wanna cry. :( Not that I would ever dream of parting with it... just makes me sick at heart to think of all the classic Infocom titles I had, complete with props, that I had to part with due to lack of space, storage, etc. :wallbash:
  22. Thanks, KusaLord! :D I was certain there was one already "in place", but assumed from the post that it was either outdated or that he was searching for a stand-alone file under the OOO page itself. I've since added the link your provided to my own bookmarks for future reference! :)
  23. If memory serves, Oscuro left the modding community some time ago to accept a position with Obsidian Entertainment. So if a Kvatch Rebuilt patch doesn't already exist, it's unlikely one will be made anytime soon. :(
  24. Hmm... well, assuming you're talking about the new 2.0 version just released on Dec. 19, 2011, via the official Morrowind Overhaul - Sound & Graphics website, they've already released an updated version of it, which, among other things, fixes the following: New MGE XE version Performance boosts when using MGE XE Installer Fixed Fixed a bug that didn’t let you change crosshair in MGSO Options (I believe the new MGE XE version to be 0.9.4 - released Dec. 21, 2011) Morrowind Overhaul Folks on the forums there are reporting jumps in FPS rates of 50% or more (depending on PC hardware and graphics settings). As you probably already know, there are four main files to download, 3 @ 410MB and 1 @ 395MB - so be sure and double check your current usage / limit (assuming your ISP enforces one) so your don't go over your bandwidth cap! :pinch: EDIT: To clarify - the mod consists of a FOUR (4) part .rar file; 3 @ 410MB and 1 @ 395MB. EDIT: Fixed Download Files now located on main page - link revised to match.
