  1. I don't have any of the mods listed here and I have the same problem. It doesn't happen untill after the 1st dragon is killed, but I don't know how long after. It seems to me as if that might mean that it's related to some quest which starts after you reach a certain level. That would be the umbra quest. I haven't any mods that alter anything in whiterun. There is phendrix magic with a merchant in dragonsreach but as I said it loads fine early in the game. Grrr.
  2. I'm having a similar problem with missing parts of dungeons.
  3. I have two game destroying problems. 1) Areas of drauger ruins and other areas are missing. There are two kinds of "missing". a) In areas like the palace of solitude or some dungeons: areas are invisible (blank blue space) untill walked into. If my char steps into the area the area appears. b) Textures and meshes are missing from ruins. The area right after a doorway in a ruin is missing and my character falls if he steps in the area. Some entire sections are missing but the drauger in sarcofici are floating. There was a recent update and I updated skse accordingly. I dowloaded the high quality texture pack but it made my game crash so I de selected the two high quiality texture esps. Dunno if any of that is relevant but it might be. 2) Now the game is randomly crashing on entering interiors with vendors. It's random so sometimes my char enters the shop normally and sometimes the screen freezes and I have to ctlr alt delete and stop the process. But when the game is reloaded the char is inside the shop. - so it's happening just after the save - the char is lvl 20 and the save files are nowhere near the 20 meg size. The problem doesn't seem to be the same problem caused by corrupt savefiles - which seemst to affect entering and exiting all interiors and extiriors- this only happens at the inn at dragonbridge and the clothing and bits and pieces shop in solitude. (my char hasn't gone anywhere else yet)- It didn't happen with the cave he went into. I did look on forums and the internet in general and couldn't find an answer to either. I am VERY DIS-A-POINTED!
  4. I have the same problem but can't remember which mod added the "copycat" perk and have no idea how to apply the changes suggested on this forum.
  5. Same thing happend to me. I had to download the new skse then it went away - but expect more trouble after that. This udate is causing headaches all over the place.
  6. There was a great looking airship in Fallout NV.
  7. Its wierd you talked about reverse engeneering because just now I had written a post about the exact same thing. It's about hot air balloons and is in the mod request forum becuse I'm not a modder and didnt intned to make the mod. But ya it does seem strange that skyrim has been atop dwememer ruins filled with still working tech and the most advanced tech they have onthe surface are windmills and water wheels. I would have thought that someone would have seen the simple effect of heat on air and water. If medaeval people were atop the ruins of a computer using civilizatizion, htey wouldn't be able to reverse engeneer a computer but they could exeamine keyboards and come up with typewriters and block printing. the hot air balloon was first used in 1783. 18th century europe was a few hundred years more advanced than skyrim but they weren't sitting atop a more technologically advanced civilization which they could learn from. Anyhoozle I invite any modding capable readers to take a look at my thoughts. Here's the post in the mod requests section. http://www.thenexusforums.com/index.php?/topic/513440-hot-air-balloons/
  8. I posted this but don't see it so I'm writing a condensed version again. The first balloon was in 1783 but 18th c europe wasn't sitting on top of a more advanced civilization for thousands of years. If medeaval people were atop a computer using civilization they could not reverse engeneer computers but might examine keyboards and come up with typewriters or block printing. A researcher could have seen dwemmer tech and thought about the interaction of heat and air. The result: a hot air balloon. Or better yet a floating platform. It could be a secret weapon of the empire (remember skyrim is split in allegience to the empire) but before they could deploy it dragons started appearing. It could have defences against arrows from the ground but not from attack from tha air. A scenario could be the player on the platform with a few legion archers. They fight off a dragon before it damages the platform enough for it to tip over and send the soldiers plummeting to the earth. It might waft in a similar way to floating slower or faster in rivers. dragons insects and birds all fly and go to ground. The platform could be stationary unless someone is at the controls then it could move forward and backwards, rotate slowly and go up and down slowly. Another scenario is to use it in attacking a bandit held fort in a similar way to the legion/stormcloack assault missions.
  9. Steam currently downloading huge files, 2 gigs already and currently downloading 2gigs more. But I searched Bethesda and Nexus forums and didn't see info on it. There are posts about people all of a sudden not being able to find their exe or being able to play. I can't find info about an update. Does anyone know why steam is downloading such huge files?
  10. Currently (as of dec 31 8:55am) steam is downloading gargantuine chunks related to new vegas. It downloaed 2gigs earlier and is downloading another 2 gigs as I type. I looked in a few forums and cannot find information about it or about a scheduled update. Steam just downloads updates n whatnot without telling you its happening. You have to open steam and look at the bottom. You should see "1 item complete" or "1 item downloading". If you click on that it might take you to a list of things it has recently downloaded or is currently donwloading. When I clicked it showed me it dloaded 2 gigs of Fallout NV stuff and was downloading 2 gigs more- but when I clicked on "view details" it brought me to the fallout nv achievement and news info page that has no news since may. I think this is why people are having trouble getting NV to work today.
  11. Steam is currently downloading huge files connected to Fallout New Vegas right now. I don't know why and I can'f find information about it. It downloaded a 2 gig chunk and is now downloading another 2gig chunk as I type this (dec 31, 8:30 am). I am looking all over for what's going on and there is no info about an update but several people are having trouble getting their game to work. So check steam to see if it is currently downloading New Vegas related files. If it is NOT downloading stuff try your game again. If your game still does not work - then: goto steam library. Right click on game, select properties. Go to local files tab Select verify integrity of game cache. Steam will take a minute or so to check the game for missing files and will re download whatever is missing.
  12. it could be one single mod that causes this. Also steam is currently downloading huge NV related files and a few people are reporting trouble getting their game to work. 14. I have done 4 ostensibly different characters and ALL of them ended up utilizing bows and stealth. Every single character ends up being a jack of all trades to some degree.
  15. Info about falmer just might be a bit spoilery at this time but I don't know to what extent. I saw a pic of a supposed loading scren but can't recall if the text in the image is what was on the loading screen that I saw in my game so it might be real or might be by a hoaxter. If the info is accurate then they still might have been different in the distant past before the Nords came to Skyrim. This is a source of non spoilery info about falmer and has links to further lore that can be found in in-game books. http://www.uesp.net/wiki/Lore:Falmer
  16. I recall a huge jump spell someone made for Oblivion where you could land saftley. It was super usefull in mountain climbing. It would probably have to be an expert or master level alteration spell. Oh of course, why didn't I think of it? A semi werewolf spell. It turns you into a nerfed werewolf for 3 minutes. Another choice would be Bear Spirit which turns you into a were POLAR BEAR!!! Sectumsempra. The spell from harry potter that slashed the victim. Its a spell that delivers damage like a melee weapon, perhaps going thru armor like a mace and causing bleeding damage like an axe. Maybe when dual cast it can cause decapitation. Or just a spell that causes decapitation.
  17. There were elves in skyrim before nords were so howzabout ancient Falmer weapons? Falmer were the snow elves that were in Skyrim before the Nords came.
  18. That is actually a hard question. I don't think either character would want to be too lacking in hp or fatigue. I didn't care about fatigue for combat but kept raising it anyway because I never seemed to be able to carry enough. I think a more important concearn would be what skills and secondary skills to focus on. So far I have found with my jack of all trades character that during combat potions are easier to use than spells even without spending any perks on it so alchemy has progressed more than restoration.
  19. I experienced a different bug at GREAT HENGE RESURRECTION. I saw the big dragon flying around near Sleeping Tree camp. It did it's dragon awakening thing, the dragon rose and killed me but good. The game reloaded and I went back, saw the dragon do the thing to awaken the dragon and the effect went over the dragon mound but no dragon materialized. Reloaded and still nothing. Later I killed a dragon and absorbed it's soul but it didn't unlock a learned shout.
  20. I agree. These trolls are far tougher than the Oblivion trolls.
  21. Did verify game cache and it worked. goto steam library right click on skyrim and select properties look in the menu for verify game cahce it verified the game files and downloaded an 18 meg file. game now working.
  22. Steam really super sucks. I am getting a problem saying the game is currently unavailable. I am trying the properties-local files-verify integrity of game cache. Also whenever I am playing steam crashed my game to show updates from its store. Steam sucks giant fat ones.
  23. Steam decryted the files but now says "This game is currently unavailable. Please try again at another time." What gives?
  24. Within a few hours (or it might have been a day) of the New Vegas release there were a few utility mods on NV Nexus. A lockpicking mod and I think an encumberance mod.
  25. I swear I saw in an early vid, where the player is dealing with some undead in the golden claw dungeon, that he punches an undead with his fist while holding a sword. That is to say with the hand that was holding the pommel of the sword. I played the clip over and over and that is what it looked like. It didn't look like blocking. The sword was perpendicular to the ground and not diagonal as when blocking.
