  1. do you want everybody to always walk on the ceiling in the cell or just certain things? If u are doing #1 just build the cell "upside down". For option #2 I have a feeling that that is something you can't do. I have never seen anything like that done

I hope I can find some like minded people who would want to help bring about this Modding project. About Me: First a little about me so you know I am not someone who has grandiose ideas and no ability to follow through. I have been modding games for about the last ten years now. Mostly the Battlefield franchise before EA decided DLC was more important. For the last year Skyrim has become my baby so to say. I love it and I love modding it. The mod and why I need help: Version one of the mod is now out but for the future I have plans in my head that are just not feasible for one person to do alone. Check out the mod here: http://www.skyrim.nexusmods.com/mods/35733 The overall plan for the future: To keep it short, I have two over arching quests in mind right now. One to finish off Drevis Renthars story and make obsidian weapons available. The second to elaborate on the Steelclaw family of Fjorna and Bjarlin. This will require a fairly small worldspace in comparison to some other mods. And some more dungeon and general interior design. I will take car of the interior work and the quest, scripting/writing. And some of the exterior work like settlement creation. The space is not that big. Maybe 6~8 x 12~16 (about twice as large as Sovngarde) cells in total but attention to detail is more important to me than overall size. Also, since the story requires really two version of the same worldspace, the total amount of work to do is more. Most of the work here is environmental. Setting up a space that can then be filled with stuff like buildings. Concept artist: I have a lot of doodles that are great reference for me since I know what I want but not really super for other people. I would love to have someone to take my doodles and turn them into some really great artwork. Texture Artist: To work with the world spacer and create new landscape textures for the world space. Since the world space is supposed to be in eternal spring, the fall/winter textures of Skyrim are not the best match. Also work on a “corrupted” version of the world space. I actually have all the skills to do this if needed but with wanting to focus on interior design and quest setup I would love to work with someone on this.   4. You could post how you fixed it to be nice so if someone in the future has this problem they too can fix it. Sometimes when nobody answers it is just because nobody knows how to fix it/this has never happened before.
  5. I would go with something like this: By using states this will make it so the player can only add wood when the fire is completely out.
  6. Skse is an extention to papyrus. It adds new functions by adding them to vanilla papyrus objects and adds a few of its own. Just install skse and use the link to the api that is on the ck wiki to find what they have changed. Once you have skse installed it runs just like basic papyrus but with more functions
  7. As for the magica just make the effect use magica. If it is a concentration effect just have it use magica and it will do it just fine. Then add all the other stuff via script.

I have spent about 14 months working on this from the time the CK came out. Instead of throwing thousands of things against the wall and trying to implement them all half halfheartedly I tried to create quality over quantity. Because of some game play elements I have implemented in the main dungeon, I advise against followers because there is some jumping and platforming which the AI in Skyrim just can't handle. On the surface this mod adds a new set of light armor between glass and dragon scale I have called Obsidian. I have lore to back it up and one of the major characters will explain it, sort of... He is a shifty fellow. But below the surface lies a lot more and there is no way I can give more away otherwise I will just spoil the fun. So thank you for playing my mod and thank you to all the people who helped me make it. The armor is male and female compatible. I Started this mod while doing a play through as a female Darkelf hence most of the pictures are of the female armor but Male armor is there as well. Renthar and his bodyguard are to be seen in the screens. Though the mod started out as a re-text it has grown into so much more. And the main focus has shifted away from the armor and more toward the story. *************************************************** ** ACKNOWLEDGEMTNS ** *************************************************** I want to thank a bunch of people for this mod.   11. Cool!! If I may ask, what are you doing your graduate work in? Linguistics itself or psyc or some other cognitive science? Reason I ask is because I graduated almost a year ago from UCSB with a BA in Linguistics and German and love just linguistics As to your questions. It is possible to find what you want to find. It's it not super easy to access it though. There is a lot of searching involved, especially if you don't know what you are looking for exactly and just want to find everything. You can't just find an NPC and get direct access to everything they say. There are really 3 ways NPCs are given dialogue. 1) via quests of generic dialogue that is applied to them via their voice type and that every npc with that voice type can say if the conditions match. 2) via quests they themselves are part of. 3) via quests that are created solely for their individual lines which are not generic and not actual "quests" the player can "do" I use the term quest here because that's technically how the game handles everything that is happening in the world. What you would need to do is find the NPC and then right click on them and hit "show use info", this will show you EVERY part of the game that links to this NPC. From their you would need to find quests and once you are in there you need to find the lines of that NPC. It will be tedious I can tell you. That's the bad part Now, for the good part: Once you do find their lines, you can just do a copy and paste of the lines subtitles. The lines and subtitles don;t always match 100% because the subtitles have a limit of 149 characters. But you can also listen to the actual recorded line. This will even give you multiple different recordings if the same line was recorded for different actors or voiceTypes.
  12. The problem is that the CK has problems reading face files like warpaint and dirst and all that good stuff that is of a higher resolution or different compression than the original files. The one things I have not checked though is if it will read them if they are packed in a .bsa It might be that the CK just has a problem with loose files. It would be a very odd problem in deed. But hey, stranger things have happened.
  13. I know from experiance this happens when there are mods installed that add warpaint or other face textures that are larger than the vanilla skyrim ones. The only way I found to get rid of them is to export with all those mods disabled/uninstalled and then use their files to manually add warpaint and things to the generated files

Ok, so I have been trying to figure out a way to see if the Civil war quest is completed by the player but I have not been able to get anywhere with this since all the city battles use the same quest if I run a check on CWSiegeObj.GetQuestCompleted() it should give me true even when only the battle for whiterun is done. Anybody know of a way to do this better?
  15. 99% of all quests fall into these categories. I don't this the lesson is don't do them. I think the lesson is: When you do them you need to do them in a way that does not seem horrible stupid. You need to create a story as to why you need to fetch something. And make the places you visit worth visiting. If you are clearing out a dungeon, why? And make the dungeon interesting. Add some nice scenes and make it branching. Linear dungeons are horrible make it so there are multiple ways to get through the thing. Go kill a boss? make the boss fight worth while. Make it challenging. Add puzzles. Even some of the best quest mods are really just these quest architypes, but they pull it off well.

What it all boils down to: learn how skyrim handles light and then you won't have problems. But hell, even in some default beth content they didn't optimize light placement very well. The CK wiki does have a lot of info btw. people deride it for it's lack of info but almost all the stuff is there, people just don't know how to read it, especially the papyrus API /rant

  20. Ok, So i have gotten a good chunk of my VA done for my mod. Thanks guys and gals for all the great work!!! But I have one funny think happening. When I play the lines back in VLC or in an editing program they sound perfect volume wise. But when I listen to them in game they are much lower in volume than normal NPC's. Has anybody had this problem? I have my voices volume at 100% in game, and master volume at 100%. And I didn't mess with my volume from the time I listened to them outside of the game to when I listened to them in-game. Could this be because they are still separate .wav and .lip files? and will the volume somehow increase when they are fuzed?

  22. you can always just go into the .esp using the CK and delete the edits that "affect" things that were copied. I know often times I will just copy something from another cell and that cell will be marked as editied, so I just delete the edit from the .esp registry
