Nope I'm pretty sure there was a certain healthcare site that won that honor. -

Yay. Stuff. Just wanted to say this site is awesome and I'm impressed that the issue is already being worked. And now..... we wait. -
It pays to read, boys and girls. The end.

The description doesn't specify do you know if AFT is compatible with UFO? Edit: I did some digging and it turns out AFT is likely not compatible with UFO. The author of AFT mentioned a few specific instances where there would likely be mod-breaking conflicts between the two. On the plus side AFT looks pretty nice. I just installed it and will update here when I decide if its better than UFO in case anyone cares. At first glance AFT seems pretty awesome. Edit 2: I do not see any option in AFT that allows me to sit with my follower. However, AFT is quite an amazing mod I do recommend it. It is slightly overpowered than UFO but when used with restraint it can be more immersive than UFO. I endorse. Any other ideas about the sitting or do you know what I'm missing in AFT?

I've always hated how if you notice your companion (or any other NPC) sitting down in an inn/tavern and think I'm going to go sit and have a chat with that guy. As soon as you try to sit next to them your character sits down and they stand up. Does anyone know if there is already or if it is possible to override this so they continue to sit there next to the player? I'm just curious. Its useful for companion mods like Vilja where the player has a lot of interaction and dialogue with the follower. Sitting next to each other in the inn over supper would be a great thing to be able to do.

Nevermind I have fixed it. Just in case this helps anyone else. Symptom: Infinite load screens leaving Winking Skeever in Solitude and one other location (I forgot where, sorry.) The offending lines were in SkyrimPrefs.ini Original values were [TerrainManager] fTreeLoadDistance=750000.0000 fBlockMaximumDistance=500000.0000 fBlockLevel1Distance=1400000.0000 fBlockLevel0Distance=70000.0000 fSplitDistanceMult=4.0000 bShowLODInEditor=0 I had created them to combat Z-Fighting in distant LOD. New values that work are [TerrainManager] fTreeLoadDistance=75000.0000 fBlockMaximumDistance=50000.0000 fBlockLevel1Distance=140000.0000 fBlockLevel0Distance=7000.0000 fSplitDistanceMult=4.0000 bShowLODInEditor=0 I removed one digit from the longer values. Also confirmed I did not see any Z-Fighting outside of Solitude. Yay! I can use the Winking Skeever now!

I seem to get the infinite load screen when leaving the winking skeever in Solitude. There is nothing in my Skyrim.ini out of the ordinary. For reference: [Display] sD3DDevice="NVIDIA GeForce GTX 260" fNearDistance=25.0000 fDefault1stPersonFOV=90 fDefaultFOV=90 fFlickeringLightDistance=4096000.0 fSpecularLODStartFade=10000000.0000 fSpecularLODMaxStartFade=12000000.0 fLightLODStartFade=20000000.0000 fLightLODMaxStartFade=25000000.0 [Grass] b30GrassVS=1 [Water] bReflectLODObjects=1 bReflectLODLand=1 bReflectSky=1 bReflectLODTrees=1 [General] sLanguage=ENGLISH [Actor] fVisibleNavmeshMoveDist=10000.0000 Thats my Skyrim.ini. Could it be something in skyrimprefs.ini? Any other ideas?

You need to install Games for Windows Live. That fixed it for me. Then you can run the mod that disables Fallouts dependency on GFWL. Not sure which to do first. I would just install GFWL and see if that fixes it.

Those screenshots of examples of hardware problems look like they happen on places like the title screen and are generally there during gameplay of all sorts. This one only occurs during Fallout 3 (going to test with Oblivion soon since it uses the same engine) and only at particular places in Fallout 3. Once I've found a place it happens I can trigger it and untrigger it multiple times. I can even leave the area and resume playing as normal (what I'm probably going to do) with my fingers crossed that it doesn't happen anywhere else.

No I don't have the /3 GB switch, I have no clue what that even is. And yeah...its a hell of a glitch. Since I reformatted Fallout 3 was the only game I had installed so I couldn't test if it was hardware or software. I installed Far Cry 2 last night and played it for 2+ hours on max graphics settings. Great framerate, no stutters, no crashes, no glitches. It seems like it must be software related. But it used to work fine and then one day it didn't. I've been thinking possibly a windows update or hotfix? But which one? I'm at a loss still. I appreciate you guys reading and trying though. I am aware this is one bad angel (I actually said mo fo but the forum inserted angels. Those good for nothing sons of biscuit eaters) of a glitch.

http://i82.photobucket.com/albums/j280/Raistlindantlus/Fallout3GraphicalFuckup.jpg There it is. When running the game in fullscreen it flickers between something similar to that, pieces of fallout, and whatever is showing on my desktop. In windowed mode it will do a persistent glitch, but usually the game will freeze in the last frame that looked normal and will return when I move my mouse away from the direction causing the error. I had to try a few times to get the graphical scramble to show in windowed mode.
-
I'm running the default shell, and it does still happen in windowed mode. In windowed mode however it doesn't flicker to and from the desktop its just a persistent graphical error with gibberish data, thats what I can screenshot and post if you would like to see. [Edit] Restoring my fallout directory from a backup file, it isn't perfect but it lets me run the game well enough to duplicate the error again so I can show it to you, should be ready in a few minutes.

CTD when trying to access Megaton
Raistlindantilus replied to djlihp's topic in Fallout 3's Mod Troubleshooting
Try opening falloutlauncher.exe and setting graphics to low. See if it crashes. If it doesn't then click advanced and turn the settings up one at a time until you find the one making it crash and leave it set to the highest value that doesn't crash the game. -
I need some serious help
Raistlindantilus replied to fenix420's topic in Fallout 3's Mod Troubleshooting
When it crashes does the game load at all or does it instantly return to the desktop? Or near-instantly? -
I have duplicated this with 100% success with or without mods installed. My video card drivers are definitely up to date and I definitely uninstalled the previous version completely. I have re-installed the game completely. I have reformatted my harddrive. No avail. I have an intel core 2 duo e8600 on an intel dp43tf motherboard windows xp 32 bit and 4 gigs of ram. My video card is an Nvidia Geforce 260 GTX I can definitely run the game, I have before. I cannot find anything that changed to start this problem, not to mention I've formatted my harddrive since then. It started in megaton. Whenever I would look up at the sky or even just slightly above the rooftops the game would behave is if I were alt-tabbing to and from the desktop repeatedly, about.....3 times a second. In between flashes of fallout and the desktop there are strange colors, nonsense symbols and other characters. Gibberish data, basically. If I look back down it would go away. And come back again if I look up. I was given the advice to change "water multisampling" to low and that worked. Now I played all the way to Meresti Station. Several hours with no problem whatsoever. Now in one of the tunnels near where *small spoiler* The Family are living, if I look in a particular direction it happens again. Oh...and I went back to Megaton to see if the problem there had returned, it has not. Megaton still functions perfectly. Any ideas? [Edit] I just discovered it. If I turn actor fade to 8 or below it fixes this one. Does anybody know why this is happening when it never did before? Could it be a symptom of something behind the scenes that I should take care of? I really don't like having to turn down my graphics settings.....even if it is minimal. [Edit2] It happened again just a few more steps down the tunnel now I turned actor fade to 5. I was fine for a few more steps.... It seems as I get closer to the Family, the different actors in different places are triggering this glitch....anybody?

As the topic and description say, I get the full dose of radiation when filling my empty bottles. I suppose a bit of radiation from contact is realistic; I could ignore this if it weren't such a full/heavy dose of radiation. I'm damn near sick after filling my bottles. I'm using primary needs standalone, not the FWE version. Does anyone else have this problem? Or willing to help me alter the scripted action of filling bottles so that instead of selecting empty bottle then selecting a water source I can do it from sneak mode and fill all bottles at once Theres a hunger thirst sleep and more mod that does this exact thing, I gave it up in lieu of primary needs since PN was so much better but this one flaw is going to get to me. I don't know if its another mod I have conflicting with PN or not, I scoured by load list for anything that looked like it may be a culprit, only one mod seemed reasonable and that was Mr. Slack Pants Radiation mod....I loaded the game with this particular mod disabled and it didn't change anything.\ Therefore I feel it reasonable to conclude Primary Needs is inherently causing this problem.

Fallout 3 Mod Detectives
Raistlindantilus replied to Malinthebeast's topic in Fallout 3's Discussion
I'm looking for a mod that provides real lighting to all of Fallout 3. I have the big ones like megaton lighting overhaul and wasteland street lights and even a fix for some of the fires that turns them into light sources. But what I'm looking for is a mod that deletes all false light sources from the game and turns all physical forms of light (light, fires, etc.) into real light emitting sources. I used a mod called "Real Lights" for oblivion and it was fantastic. Made the game infinitely more playable for me. I can't stand being in what is supposed to be a dark deserted metro tunnel and I somehow don't need a pip-boy light or night vision to see because of false light sources spread intermittently throughout the metro.... If anyone knows if this mod has been attempted for Fallout 3 I would appreciate the information... -
If you can find which one that was it might be able to create a port to F03. Although that the mod Zumbs linked to is quite promising at itself. http://www.tesnexus.com/downloads/file.php?id=4584 That was it. I don't know how to make a port of a mod, I may look into it later today just to see if its difficult or not. I have basically no modding experience. I created an NPC in Oblivion but all I did was copy another change some of his stats and facial features, rename him and plop him down somewhere. Thats all.

So no one knows of a mod that even modifies the game time after leaving the menu? Its ok if it isn't a true real-time menu...I'm not that picky....though that would be cool....
-
Yeah thats actually what I meant. In Oblivion there was a mod that tracked the time spent in menu and then modified the time when you left the menu....thats all I ask really, I understand that a true real-time menu would raise more problems than it would fix.

Hey gang, I browsed the forum for a bit and tried a search to no avail, and quite frankly I don't have the patience to do so any longer. Can anyone tell me if there is a mod that makes bartering, accessing your pip-boy, etc all occur in real-time rather than pausing the in-game timescale? The reason I ask for this is for instance: "Craterside Supply is not open yet, I'd love to walk down to Moriarty's and have a drink and wait for her to open but I spend so much time in menus talking to Gob, buying the drink, drinking the drink, etc. that even though it takes me 5 minutes for this to happen, in game hardly any time at all has passed." I know I could use the wait feature but lets face it, as RP'ing goes....using the wait feature is kinda lame. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks.

Is there a mod that fixes this?
Raistlindantilus replied to Raistlindantilus's topic in Oblivion's Mod troubleshooting
Its both self-cast and target-cast spells. For instance I can be standing in the middle of the mages guild next to another NPC, cast feather on myself, and then that NPC thinks I went hostile with him. They usually start by ducking, or shield bashing, or some other move that was added by the Deadly Reflex combat mod. Which makes me think maybe that has something to do with it. -
When I cast non-hostile spells like feather or detect life, or protect other, sometimes the NPC target or just an NPC standing close by (if it was a self-cast spell) suddenly thinks I'm going hostile and fights back. Is this a known cause of any mods such as OOO or LAME? I'm not using many mods that would alter the NPC behavior in such a way....as far as I know. Or is it a known bug with a mod to fix?
