Skyrim cannot utilize more than 4GB of RAM? WTF? Was this game written in 2008? So weird. I guess it is a full console port. Code and all. Sux. That is the short route, isn't it Bethesda? I turned down textures and radial blur to Medium. I also have FXAA turned on, as it is an Nvidia technology and easier on the system than regular AA, apparently. I have AA set to 4 and Anisotropic set to 8 (each half of their full capability). These measures kept me in the game for about 2.5 hours last night with no crashes. I will check again today. The thing about that is, I have a PC that can run the s*** out of this program. Why on earth can't I? If I want to run the s*** out of this game on this PC, I need to disable half of my RAM? *facepalm

I see this all the time. And then I Crash to Desktop. 4GB patcher. hmmm... what is that? where is that? what does it do? how do I use it? I have seen it suggested everywhere I have looked for info on my issue. I have zero mods installed.

LOL! And I you, Brother Denixprince. And I you. I have this issue. I run a similar rig to RDJim. I run Intel i7 2600 @ 3.40 GHz with 8 GB RAM. Windows 7 - 64 bit. My GPU is Nvidia GeForce GTX 560. I have realized when I will see a crash now. It is when I start to see purple things. Trees, inventory, other characters, etc. They turn just purple. No texture, nothing, just purple. That is when I know I need to press QuckSave and sure enough, within seconds, Crash to Desktop. I have been playing with no major heartache over it, but now I have come to the forums. I have seen this 4GB remedy suggested before. I know nothing of it. Playing with textures on medium may do it, and bring serenity, but if I wanted to play this game on medium settings, I would get an XBox.

4gb awareness patch? What is that? Where is that? Why?

I have this exact problem frequently. I purchased a hard copy of the game on disc. I bought it at London Drugs in Canada. What is this about removing some files? I have zero mods installed.
