Nude patches are fine. Dudes, though?
nipwip replied to manekineko42's topic in Dragon Age: Origins's Mod Ideas
So you posted all that smarmy attitude, referenced your gender, your masturbation preferences, classical art, started throwing insults... to say, "Well, I'd like it." No one said it was unwelcome, or that there was no place for it. No one said it was wrong. You don't even have to take my word for it, feel free to do a search of nude mods for Oblivion and Fallout 3, two of the most popular games to mod and both featured on Nexus. Even when you remove female nude mods from the equation, there are still far and away more 'erect' mods then there are that feature Ol' Floppy in all his glory. This isn't even opinion, it's plain to see for anyone willing to invest the time to look it up. It isn't as popular, so there aren't as many. Simple. If you aren't finding what you want on Nexus or some of the other more western-based sites, you can take a plunge into some of the Japanese modding sites. There are a lot of mods produced by them that wouldn't even get looked at here, if you're willing to take the time to translate things or know a bit of Japanese yourself. They're the ones responsible for the "erecting" male mod, as well as then hardening nipple mod... the latter of which was used as a base for the infamous dick-nipple mod, which is as perverse as it is hilarious. It was a team of Japanese modders that were working on the now-abandoned skin tanning mod, that would have your fair skinned character pick up a tan, complete with complex tan lines, when out adventuring in Oblivion. Unfortunately, I haven't found any Dragon Age mod sites of merit outside of DA Nexus, so love floppy or hate him, you're still going to have to wait a while. -

You feel strongly about... what, exactly? You aren't making any kind of point relevant to the thread. You haven't even established what it is in my original post that got you all riled up in the first place. You started ranting about classical art and how you don't look at nude bodies and masturbate because you're a woman, when the rest of us were posting about video game nude mods - in particular, the lack of 'gender equality' in nude mods and why that is. If you have a point, let's hear it. If not, let it go. -

Link removed as inappropriate content. Bben46, Moderator I would be very interested to know how you think that is the classic ideal of artistic beauty. Impress upon me how it speaks to and inspires you. You can stomp around with your nose in the air, speaking of classic beauty and ideals and how you find beauty in the human form, but we aren't talking about "David" here. We're on an internet forum with people who are discussing how they would like their video game character to show some dong when they remove a piece of armor. I simply made reference to the average persons view, about the very real and potentially hairy aesthetic value of a penis and how it relates to the topic. It was more to establish that it isn't penis phobia that keeps these mods from being popular and many, it's simply the fact that there aren't nearly as many people interested in seeing a bare penis as there are people interested in seeing bare breasts. The average player doesn't create a character to be the likeness of David, they create a character they think looks good to them. The cold truth is that the most of the players looking for a nude mod with detailed genitals is looking to add sex to their game, not because they have high artistic ideals. If you chisel out a character that, in your mind, is a work of art and not simply an electronic barbie doll to dress and undress, more power to you. You would be in the minority. I 'get' what you're trying to say, even if I don't see how it's relevant to my post. What I don't get is why you decided to use your masturbation preferences as part of your argument. I'm not sure how 'being a girl' makes that bizarre argument any more relevant then if you were a man, either. -

Doesn't have anything to do with being homophobic, or people being afraid of a penis. It's the simple fact that as far as aesthetics go, there aren't many people interested in seeing a limp penis. I've never met a woman who was interested in seeing it and I'm pretty confident that there aren't a lot of men interested either, gay or otherwise. When a woman, and I would assume homosexuals as well, think of or wants to see a penis, it's erect, an icon of sexual pleasure or sexual power... not as some dangling flop of meat that shrinks in a cool breeze. By comparison, just about everyone can look at a female body, fully nude, and see beauty. Or, it could just be there are more horny nerds who like boobs then horny nerds who like dongs. Either way, you will see a mod for both sooner or later, as every game that comes with a toolset eventually becomes a hive of naked anime-inspired game porn. You will just have to wait longer, as tits are the order of the day for most people on Nexus. Honestly though, you shouldn't expect a sexually charged Dragon Age subculture and all the related bells and whistles like you see in games like Oblivion or Fallout 3, simply because games like Dragon Age and Mass Effect don't offer themselves up to complete sandbox freedom and as such, won't draw the high talent modders that make those subcultures possible. You're better off just playing Dragon Age for the game it is and go pick up Oblivion for 10 bucks, for when you want to mod yourself up some sword-baring super stud or large breasted bikini vixen, as at least you have an established community to draw from. Hell, there are already Oblivion mods out there based on characters from Dragon Age, if you're really pining for some Alister or Morrigan skin. -
Recomend some of your favorite mods

It was one of the first cosmetic mods I downloaded and will always be in my Oblivion, easily one of the best around. Picked it up, reminds me of the sword from Baldur's Gate II. The Kavatch mod doesn't seem to like open cities, but the other went in just fine.. now I just have to get around to actually visiting the Imperial City for more then 'shop 'n pawn' at the Goddess Store ;) I have the lop-ear resources (that LFact mentioned) from the Japanese guy @ Dramatically!, but they aren't as good as the ones in the picture. It's a shame it wasn't given a proper release, really. Still, in looking for the ears, I found a lot of pretty nice stuff on some of those Japanese Oblivion forums... the sheer volume of raw perversion I had to wade through to get to the quality stuff, well, we won't talk about that. Or forget it. Ever. Never tried Vampires in Oblivon, my experiences in Morrowind soured me the the concept. I've read it is a lot better in Oblivion but I just keep thinking back to how boring and limiting it was and keep my disease immunity ring on. That sounds badass, will download when I'm done posting. Nah, it isn't the same armor. I've been searching high and low for it, but considering it's black and glossy and revealing... I end up with a LOT of search results to wade through. Keep 'em coming. -
What do you want in a mod? What do you not want?

One of the more interesting mods I played was a Kendo one... KendoGirl, I think. It was short; I cleared it in an hour or so, but it had a nice pulp-ish detective feel to it and was very entertaining. It used some custom content, a lot of it stuff that was readily available in the community and some new and interesting things that were pure flavor (I keep a Brutal Toy on a desk in my characters house just for lols). There was some new gear to be had but I don't think I even bothered with it, the real draw was in the story and the interactivity. There wasn't a bunch of FedEx quests to make it seem longer, it wasn't a non-stop slaughterhouse fiesta or a bunch of trite bullshit about a glorious hero saving the world from an unstoppable menace, it's just a gritty piece of your characters past that gives a plausible reason for your character to have been in prison. There was no classic good and evil, no one involved was really innocent and everyone, including your character, are victims to some degree. That is what I look for in a mod - something to draw me in and keep me there until I've seen it to the end. A lot of stock quests and modded quests are just more of the same, 'Oh great hero of <insert fluff>, please save us from the evil <one dimensional loot pinata boss> before he <does something vaguely and / or over the top evil>' and I don't think anyone is really interested in that shallow crap anymore. You start them, get distracted picking flowers or dick punching bears and it doesn't matter because even if you've never done that quest before, you know it'll end the same way they all do. It doesn't matter if you use all stock content and there are no "rewards", if you produce a mod that keeps people interested with story and flavor, it'll be a success. If you do include rewards, please, don't make it a house or a piece of armor, no one uses more then one house and armor just ends up in a barrel somewhere - make it something that will carry it's value, like a small bonus to the luck stat or a minor power. I wouldn't mind a house cat NPC as a reward, if you're feeling creative ;) Oh, and if you decide to make a combat heavy mod, please make it a real ball buster - nothing deflates a quest like finding out the antagonist could be floored with a harsh noogie. Hope it helps. -
I've been messing around with Oblivion mods for quite a while now, I've run the gauntlet of just about all the high rated stuff and some of the more obscure ones. So, I figure I'll throw a post up here and ask you, the person reading this now, to suggest some mods that you think are worth the download. I'm mostly interested in weapons and armor, clothes, hair / eye / cosmetic mods, but I'm more then happy to give anything a look, from companions to houses to animations. I have most of the popular races and body mods, obse and related plug-ins and a basic understanding of the CS, so feel free to suggest a good mod or mod combo, even if it's a little more complicated to setup. I'm willing to do a little work to get a nice result. If it's good, I want to know about it, so don't be shy. edit: http://thenexusforums.com/index.php?showtopic=156346 -- What is the name of that armor and can anyone suggest other, similar gear? http://www.tesnexus.com/downloads/images/1...-1248780657.jpg - I understand that those (awesome) ears aren't available to the public and that the armor is available in Hentai Mania (which is 100% worth the download if you haven't already got it), but where can I get that incredible hair? And more hair like it?

The Types of Mods Being Produced
nipwip replied to David Brasher's topic in Oblivion's Classic Discussion
Biggest reason you won't see a lot of really elaborate dungeons is because a lot of modders prefer to work alone, or in like-minded cliques. It isn't easy to gather a competent team together for one big project or keep it together when there are creative differences and the prospect of working out an entire, professional looking dungeon mod all on your own is just plain oppressive - you have the idea, the story, even the plan, but the sheer volume of work it would take to do it alone makes it a most unattractive goal. Add to that the fact that the only people who are going to appreciate all the effort that has gone into a mod are other modders, because the average player just devours the content and moves on without a thought to how much work went into it, or in some cases will go as far as to rip into the author because "it doesn't work" and everyone knows a readme is just there to fill out the file list, right? So instead of a lot of good modders working together on cool projects like game-spanning quests or a new and original dungeon, they work on small personal projects where they don't have to compromise with others and aren't slaving away for something they aren't going to get much out of. When you create a dungeon or a quest line, you know all the answers and everything that is going to happen, you know how to clear the dungeon and what monsters are down there, so there is little to no reason for you to ever use it yourself - it is exclusively for others, often others who won't appreciate it, never mind thank you for it. Making a new piece of armor, some flash combat animations or a high resolution texture for the latest "Tiny Elves With Huge Mams" mod, on the other hand, are all things the author can make use of and enjoy, no matter how the community responds to them. You just get more out of small personal projects as a modder... and until the all-consuming masses start to show appreciation, all the best modders will stick to smaller projects with less hassle, or as is the growing trend, leave the community completely.
