Immersion/survival mods for daily living in the wastes
nluogameno replied to cianalexander's topic in Fallout 4's Mod Ideas
Also a huge fan of immersion mods here. I'd like to see a global damage increase. Most guns should put a human down with just 2 or 3 bullets at most, player included. It makes for a much more realistic feel for the weapons, and forces the player to be more strategic, instead of running in guns blazing.- 18 replies

Perhaps sounds, like stomach gurgles, and visual effects, like tunnel vision could be used to alert the player that their character is experiencing hunger and thirst.

I don't think this needs any further explanation except that spears would be the ultimate dragonslayer's melee weapon.

How about an assignable magic hotkey like the power/shout key but for a spell. When I have my hands full with weapons I only need to press a key and I automatically cast the spell assigned to that key. I don't like having to pause the game by going into the favorites menu to choose a spell to use.

LE A Dwemer version of Robco Certified?

I like it. -
I guess what I am asking for is bullet time, like in Fallout. Maybe it can start out as slowed time and if you get good enough with it freeze time. I don't know if it is possible but maybe even rewind, like in Prince of Persia.

This is a good one.

How about being able to craft/buy placeable traps (explosive, elemental, poison, dart, bear, etc.)?
-
How about making the horse run from combat as well. Though I appreciate the help and all, I don't think a real horse would go charging headlong at a giant or dragon. Just for the sake of realism.

This is a dovetail from a previous post about wearable backpacks. 1.) But even without wearing a backpack, how about redesigning and moving the quiver. More like this and this . Kind of slung just above the characters backside. This would keep it out of the way of backpacks and large weapons slung on across the back. 2.) Also, how about a more simple looking quiver that is the same for all arrow types. The quivers that for such arrows as elven and dwarven are kind of silly and unnecessarily big. I'd like to see a good ol fashioned quiver like the ones in the pictures i linked to. 3.) How about arrow crafting? Perhaps crafting can be split up into three parts, arrow head, shaft, and fletching (feathers). With all different types of each part that can be combined in different ways to make custom arrows. Maybe even enchantments. I think Diablo 2 had such enchantments as replenishing arrow quivers, but others like elemental and poisoned arrows could be pretty cool.

I love scavenging loot; like swords, gems, armors, etc. but where does the character keep it all. For the sake of realism how about making a wearable backpack. I know the models for such things as knapsacks and apothecary's bags exist, now they just need to be made wearable. I think that the carry weights that already exist are fine, but for the sake of realism and immersion it would be great to be able to wear those bags. This may even dovetail into another idea I had, which was the moving of the quiver, and perhaps an entire quiver redesign. I'll make that a new thread though.

Yeah I didn't think of hypothermia, that would be pretty cool. I did notice how little insulation a lot of the clothing and armor provides. For sake of immersion I would like to see perhaps clothing that can be worn under or over armor, like shirts, cloaks, capes, and jackets. The hypothermia = radiation idea would be pretty cool, and to add to lore perhaps nords could be more resistant.

I am a real-life blacksmith, and love that I can do it in Skyrim, but... 1.) I don't think that any blacksmith is going to let some random stranger walk up and start using their tools. How about either having to pay to use or better yet, purchasing your own equipment. Would be great to be able to build a workshop in a player home. Maybe even rent it out or hire an apprentice to make stuff to raise some money. 2.) Kind of related to number 1, but how about some tools that add minimal (like just a little bit) to smithing. Blacksmith's hammer, anvil, tongs, cutting hardies, apron, gloves, etc. 3.) I would like to make things besides weapons, armor, and jewelry. How about other metal items like horseshoes, buckles, nails, chains, etc. All of which can be either sold or used in the crafting of other items. 4.) Improved smelting - Let me melt down items into their component parts. I know that a good steel item can be heated and hammered into something totally different, like a shield into a sword or axe. 5.) Increased variety of craftable items. I am sure this is on the way as we speak, but I would like to see different variations of items, like multiple types of steel armor like full platemail compared to just a breast plate. They are on the right track with the regular armor and banded armor being different, but how about some more variations, even if they are only cosmetic. It would even be cool to mix components, like moonstone infused steel armor or something along those lines.

I really loved the immersion of primary needs in Fallout (needing to eat, sleep, and drink). How about it?

I find that the compass, and the markers that come with it, kind of take away from the immersion of the game. I would like to get rid of it but if I turn the HUD opacity all the way down then I can no longer see notifications like skill ups, entrance names, item names, etc. For even more immersion how about a compass item that you actually look at?

Ok so does anyone know where to begin on modding the sky? Essentially I would like to make the sky a darker, grayer, more post-nuclear holocaust looking. Additionally I would like to incorporate a dusty, sandy haze into the air that does not allow you to see miles into the distance, as well as a bit of a sandy radioactive glow to the environment. Does anyone have any pointers on where to begin? Basically Yossarian has hit the nail on the head with his Nevada Skies mod. One of the special moods in his mod is "I Dream of Visari", which is perfect. I would like to recreate it as my default weather and sky. In his mod it does not last indefinitely and I have to constantly reapply it with menus and such.

I would like to make the "I Dream of Visari", psychadelic mood, from Nevada skies my default weather. It adds some great effects but will only last a short while. I want it to be constant. Anyone know if this can be done with Nevada skies preferences or by renaming some sky files, or something?

So are all of these mods compatible with each other or do we need to pick and choose what we use?

Ever wonder to yourself, "Wow over a hundred years since the bombs dropped, and there are still so many guns around"? I envision a Fallout world of more primitive weapons (swords, clubs, bows, crossbows, etc.). Why not take all the great resources from the oblivion games, and countless others (Diablo, WoW, Dungeon Siege, etc.), and integrate them into the Fallout world. Indeed limiting the amount of firearms and ammo would make those weapons rarer and more valuable. Of course certain factions, like the outcasts who specifically collect such items, would have more, which would make either attacking or befriending these factions much more interesting (harder if you choose to attack and jack their sweet loot). Alas, I have no modding abilities of my own. I therefore leave it up to some interested party to take up the charge. I can certainly add concepts and idea generation to the mix. I have read very much into the history of weapons, collect swords and bows, am an amateur Blacksmith, and have invested a great deal of time into games that include such weapons. I believe that this project would greatly increase the level of immersion in the world of Fallout.
