  1. In response to post #64091766. #64095721 is also a reply to the same post. The last time I had one of the ransom ads hit me was approx. six months ago. and yes I know I have no obligation to play the ads, but I figure it was a way for me to shave a few pennies of the staggering amount it costs to run a site of this size. I do get a lot of use from the site and while I don't have much in the way of funds, I do have time and patience. It's just a shame that very few of the ad services police their offerings enough to prevent the malware ads.
  2. For quite a long time I would log out of my account and browse the nexus while letting the ads flash and jingle all they wanted. This was my effort to add a few more pennies to the pool, But I had to stop due to all the hack ads that were coming through. The last day I let the ads play I had three different ads in a span of about fifteen minutes that tried to lock me out and ransom me. I would very much like to continue letting the ads play when I'm able, but not at the risk of ransomware. I know the nexus has little control over the ad services, but until the hack ads are blocked it's just more risk than I want to deal with.
  3. anything you want. (The site rules still apply!)
  4. Or you could go to http://niftools.sourceforge.net/forum/viewtopic.php?f=13&t=5823 and download the very latest blender plugin(the file link is in my sig) built on blender 2.75a, and simply export your models as a skyrim nif, load it in nifskope to do the final polish and slap it in your game. It is technically still alpha level product, but it works rather well Not yet tested in blender 2.76 rc3, but it should work without issue
  5. While it is nice to see more companies accepting modding in general it is sad to see that they will be putting a monetary value on it. While I do believe that good modders should get some jink for their efforts I am certain many crap modders will do everything they can to scam the system and gain as much coin for as little effort as they can. The best of both worlds would be for them to do as the nexus has done, Keeps the mods and all modding efforts free to download and use but allow people to donate to specific peoples according to what the users think is proper and can afford. That way large group effort mods can still be done with ease, allowing the user to donate to each content provider if the provider wishes to accept any monies. It also allows more people to use and evaluate the mod so that more people are made aware of it and, if it is deserving, then more people will download and use it. As a result there will be more possible chances for donations to the provider/s. The pay to download scheme, before ever seeing what the mod does, will lead to many unhappy users who are scammed by bad/lazy mods and many unhappy modders who have a much lower exposure and very little payment which will likely lead to them leaving the modding scene. No matter our opinion though the devil is at the doorstep, paid user content is here and looks like it will be expanding. I think the modding community will be worse off for it over all.
  6. I'm hoping it's another in the fallout line, I like both fallout and elder scrolls worlds but surviving the aftermath of world ending disaster appeals to me more. Though no matter what they release you can bet it will be chock full of stupid bugs that some few wonderful and caring people in the community will have to step in and fix, most likely repeatedly. I for one will not be buying the game on release day. I'll wait until at least some of the stupid is removed from it. They'll eventually get my money because the licenses they hold are just that good, If only the development team was as good as the license.
  7. The nif scripts for blender 2.49 do not support Skyrim nifs yet. There is a workaround that fools the plugin into using the fallout 3 nif code but it will create errors that you will need to fix once you get the head back into nifskope. Do a web search for skyrim + blender 2.4 + import and it shouldn't take long to find a tutorial that explains how. Also altering the head model will alter all faces in game, to make custom faces all you need to use the CK and create the faces there. If you alter the head model you will need to update all of the morph data and tri files to prevent crashes. Making custom faces that the player can select during generation is also much more complicated than it has been in the past. I suggest you take time to look at how the existing presets are set up in the CK and procede from there. Of course if you are creating a custom race then you can ignore the warning about altering the head mesh so long as you don't overwrite the base heads in any way and place all your new heads and morphs into a new folder.
  8. I am nearly finished with my body mod as far as models and skeleton goes but I am not much good with textures and need someone willing to do multiple textures for male and female both adult and child. All bodies are anatomically correct and have havok (mostly) enabled, so you'll need to know what all the parts look like  The bodies are as close to completely compatible with the in game textures as I can make them and are 100% compatible with all original in game armors and clothing. anyone interested in adding their skill to this mod can reply here or send me a pm.
