Bethesda has a funny way of teasing people who can't get Skyrim ri
ajrunke replied to DarthVue's topic in Skyrim's Skyrim LE
Well, if it's any consolation, I shipped a packaged to Bethesda, MD yesterday and today was the first snowfall of the year. I instantly thought Nordic tundra when the snow laid softly against the ground. And in nine years on the job, I've never sold and packaged something to Bethesda, MD before. That has to be a sign, right? -
I'll bite and assume you're not trolling. They want you to come at 10PM Thursday night because 12:01 AM Friday is 2 hours later.. You wouldn't be making two trips. You're expected to arrive and wait there until 12. That is if you want to be one of the first in line. If not you might wait a long while since most midnight releases are first come first serve. No, I'm not trolling....this legitimately didn't make sense. I preordered. Why the f*** wouldn't I wait until Friday so I don't have to stand in line. I apologize if I sound naive, but I never went to a "midnight" release nor have ever had any desire to do so. I guess I didn't realize long lines formed at game stores. In hindsight, I probably should have had it shipped as this sounds like it's becoming more of a headache than I anticipated. I simply wanted to stroll in and stroll out...

Is bumping a topic proper forum etiquette for the sole reason of my own selfish interests?

Hey! Any of you Gamestop employees..please enlighten me!!!!!!!!!!!!! I preordered for in-store pick up. I just received a text that stated: "Your Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim avail 12:01am Fri. Arrive 10pm Thu to finalize payment." Why would I make two separate trips to Gamestop...the first on Thursday to finalize payment and the second actually on Friday to pick up the game. Why not finalize my payment of Friday so I only need to make one trip????????????? Will they give my pre order away if I don't finalize payment Thursday evening??????????????? Also, if I were to go on Thursday evening and finalize payment...is there a chance that they would hand the game over to me Thursday night? Not that it would do me any good, but it would make me more secure knowing that it was already in my possession and ready to be played Friday after work?

But of course, if you have a large HD TV then even 1080p will still look pretty s*** compared to a small PC monitor with the same resolution, for obvious reasons ;) If that's what you meant. Sir, that is what I meantm sir. Yeah, it's still 1920 x 1080 but now that resolution is spread over my 46" rather than my 22" thus giving an appearance of lower resolution. I surely cannot sacrifice clean, crisp edges for being nice and comfy on the couch.
-
I did this when I played The Witcher 2. It is very nice to be able to lounge on the couch; however, it is a pain to drag your stuff back and forth, adjust the colors/brightness on your tv and also get your resolution spread out over your large tv size rather than your monitor size thus making the clarity less.

Knock, Knock. - Who's there? Impatient Cow -Impatient C..... MOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Yeah, how's that for maturity? Huh????? FACE!!

I've preordered from gamestop a few times before and never had any issue. Skyrim; however, is the first time I have used their in store pick up. I hope it doesn't fail me......

Agreed. Pics or it didn't happen...also be sure that when you upload the pics, you PM me the pic of the activation key. That way I can verify that your copy is legit. :whistling:

I'm sorry this is terrible advice. I mean, it's good advice, but it's also terrible advice. Having been a University student for three years, I know a little bit about drinking, and preaching composure on your 21st birthday is just pointless. Drug overdoses are obviously terrible but completely unrelated, and on the other point, you simply don't walk home on your own, which most people who drink heavily tend to avoid anyway. I'm not making light of your plight, and I'm sorry for your losses, but the fact is it's entirely possible to get both wasted yet still retain some form of responsibility as long as you have trustworthy friends around. It's my 21st soon, I don't intend to remember any of it. At this age, it's just...necessary, and yeah you might feel like crap the next day but damn that's what being 21 is all about. There's no reason to be an absolute wreck no, but if you've got friends with you, and especially for an event like your 21st birthday. I say go nuts. I agree. My point wasn't that he was going to die from drinking too much!! My point was that you will feel like complete s*** the next day so much so that you won't even want to play Skyrim. Believe me, I've gone out and been trashed beyond belief many times and like you stated, as long as you're with other people, they're most likely going to watch your back....and as you, I've been in college, too. I will bet you that if you get black out drunk, you wouldn't even want to play Skyrim the next day. You will want to bury your head in the covers and lay there all day. While I agree to enjoy and "go nuts", there were some parts that I wish I could have remembered. After the first bar I went to, the rest of the night was a blackout. I heard stories about me hitting on a bartender hardcore and I didn't even remember...lmao.

Don't listen to the people telling you to get trashed. Yeah, it may sound cool to brag about getting lit up, but when you spend the majority of the night in a daze not remembering it and waking up feeling like utter s***, it's not worth it. My 21st was on a Sunday night and went barhopping. I didn't plan on getting trashed, but a friend was driving and all the bars gave free drinks to me. I woke up on the bathroom floor in my own vomit. I still went to work and I even ran a press while puking in a bucket. It was the worst day of work in my life. In the 4 years I worked at my job, I never took a sick day and while I would have stuck out work all day after my 21st. but my boss said I could take a half day (which I did). It was the WORST day of work in my entire life. The only thing I wanted to do was go home and lay in bed. Not only that, but be smart. I've lost one friend to drug od and another consumed too much alcohol and decided to walk home...then passed out on train tracks and died. The moral of the story is don't get trashed. You may have every intention (like I did) to only get effervescent. However, with the pressure from friends and free drinks from bars, you end up consuming way more than you want to. Trust me, if you get too wrecked, you won't even want to play Skyrim the next day. Pace yourself and be smart.

Do you love Skyrim's music? Do you want it all?
ajrunke replied to Stormcrown's topic in Skyrim's Skyrim LE
Jeremy Soule is brilliant. I have never experienced a more meaningful and immersive song than Auriel's Ascension. It is simply stunning and moving every time I hear it. No doubt I will be lapping up this music and loving every note of it. I was just listening to Auriel's Ascension on youtube. My girlfriend, a room away, asked what that song is because she wants to put it on her "relaxation" playlist. The notes on the piano.....wow. Simply wow. What a moving score. I have full faith that the music will be just as immersive. The Skyrim theme has already proven that. -
I'm choosing a Nord for my first playthrough. After that, I will choose something more exotic.

It will be an agonizing week for sure. I wish they would release more video content to help keep us partially satiated. There really hasn't been that much. There was a longer demo that was eventually released, but it contained the footage of everything else that had been previously released; only longer segments. COME ON BETH, GIVE US MORE VIDEO!!!!!!!!!!!!! I can't escape the clips for Saints Row 3, Modern Warfare 3 and Battlefield 3. (Wow, that's a lot of 3 time sequels coming out/out.) Edit: The behind the scenes of the music was a nice bone tossed to us, but I want gameplay no matter how interesting that video was.

We shall see. Batman: AC has received critical acclaim...it's been one of the highest scoring games of all time. Batman in my mind would be the biggest threat to snatching the title from Skyrim. BUT Skyrim I am sure will have more content packed into it. I doubt Uncharted 3 will receive the award. The games are great, but they're released with not a whole lot of time in between titles. Uncharted 2 took it a couple years ago and Uncharted 3 took a great recipe, but didn't really expand upon it (not necessarily a bad thing since it worked so well) and goty awards usually go to a title that has made significant advancements from previous installments. The advancements between Uncharted 1 and Uncharted 2 were quite significant. From Uncharted 2 to 3, not so much. It's sort of funny. When The Witcher 2 was released, the PC RPG group was screaming that it would be GOTY and now I rarely see it mentioned anymore. For me, The Witcher 2 didn't really have that much replayability. It was quite a linear game and it really wasn't deep.
