  1. Papyrus log clearly shows us that something funky going on with Dual Sheath Redux. Not saying uninstall but try playing without it for a while. See how it goes. Or try to do something about that specific script. I was having some issues with the staggering script(but the other parts of the mod was clearly working fine) and I disabled it now I don't get any CTDs. Sometimes, something just don't work.
  2. 800? You're basically sabotaging your own game. Don't mess with the INI files like that if you don't know what you're doing. If you're gonna increase it you should do it by small numbers and only in the case of having a highly script heavy setup with a modified uGridsToLoad.
  3. No one can answer this question. You have to decide yourself by checking your RAM usage while in game. If it's not at some critical point like %98 usage. Then no, you won't see any difference. More RAM is good if you need it, it's useless if you don't.
  4. Movies are quite different than games. Each frame of the movie has a decent amount of motion blur. This is to reduce the differences between each frame and make it feel smooth. Video games generally don't have any motion blurring and that's why you need more FPS. Otherwise the game will feel like you're jumping between frames. So in short, blurring simulates smoothness while sharpness simulates stuttering. Also there is no limit on human eye like "24 fps", most people can see up to 150, while someone with trained eyes is able to see up to 300(like pilots). Basically It's not the same for every people. I would say that you're really unlucky if you can't see the differences between 24FPS gameplay and 60FPS gameplay.
  5. Just go and find an ENB you like and then disable FPS heavy options such as SSAO and DOF. Or you can just lower the quality instead of just completely disabling them. Basically, tweak it to your own needs. This is probably the best way. Really? That sounds incredibly fishy no offense. I've played games since I was 5 and got somewhere around 2000 or so games all together and spent thousands and thousands of hours in both random singleplayer games but also MMO's/fp's/mobas you name it, and the difference between 60/30 is stupidly obvious if you ask me. But I envy you if that's true because then you can get away with a lot of things. No suggestion on any ideal setup from you then? Best regards, Murk. He said he cannot see the difference. That doesn't mean there isn't any difference. But I do know that if you go below 31FPS the engine locks your fps to 24. You might be seeing 28.8 or 27.7 in Fraps but the observed FPS will be locked at 24. So it's better to stay above 31FPS always, not 30.
  6. You won't even get 30FPS while using K ENB or Serenity or any good looking ENB. Good luck with that.
  7. Only ASUS ARES III has a non-reference design and you need a custom water cooling system for that. And it will cost you more than 1500USD if you go for it. So, that's definitely a no-no. http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814121904 If you want something cheaper you can Crossfire these(both got pretty good design); http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814127787 http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814202079 Or just get a 980SLI, but that will cost you more but that would be better also in terms of performance compared to 295X2 or 290XCF.
  8. There is no difference between that XFX and Sapphire card. Both are reference design.
  9. Did you check 4K benchmarks before saying that? While both cards overclocked? http://www.pcper.com/reviews/Graphics-Cards/NVIDIA-GTX-980-3-Way-and-4-Way-SLI-Performance/Metro-Last-Light http://www.pcper.com/reviews/Graphics-Cards/NVIDIA-GTX-980-3-Way-and-4-Way-SLI-Performance/Bioshock-Infinite http://www.pcper.com/reviews/Graphics-Cards/NVIDIA-GTX-980-3-Way-and-4-Way-SLI-Performance/Battlefield-4 http://www.guru3d.com/articles_pages/geforce_gtx_980_sli_review,16.html When you check this links you'll understand that It's not Skyrim's fault at all. Yes, these numbers will change in the future with upcoming drivers, but honestly, it won't make that much difference. Somehow, only Crysis 3 managed to have a proper scaling. Oh, I think he forgot to mention. He's not looking to get a brand new Titan Z for 1500USD. He's trying to buy a used one for around 1K. So actually the price/performance will be much better than you think. That depends, if he has an acceptable use for 6GB VRAM can you really advice him not to get? And before all this started he asked for a dual GPU card around 1000-1500USD. Didn't ask for SLI. Although I really don't know yet if Skyrim treats dual GPU and SLI differently. But nonetheless that was what he asked.
  10. More VRAM will help you if you don't have enough VRAM for the things you want to do. If you already have enough, having more VRAM won't do anything. You just have to check your VRAM usage and decide do you need more or not. If you want ultra quality textures for recent and future games, and heavily modded Skyrim, I can honestly say that anything below 3GB won't be enough for you.
  11. http://www.guru3d.com/articles_pages/nvidia_geforce_gtx_titan_z_review,29.html This is %20 faster on clock and %10 faster on memory compared to a reference 780Ti. 780Ti has 925Core/7000Memory by default. And they managed to get 1137Core/7700Memory on Titan Z.Even the 780Ti Kingpin Classified comes with 1137Core/7000Memory(pretty much the fastest factory overclocked 780Ti on earth). And check this: http://www.guru3d.com/articles_pages/geforce_gtx_980_sli_review,24.html 980 SLI OC 3D Mark score: 16514 http://www.guru3d.com/articles_pages/nvidia_geforce_gtx_titan_z_review,29.html Titan Z OC 3D Mark score: 16375 Pretty much what I said earlier, Titan Z is roughly equal to 980 SLI in performance... And this is Skyrim(which is why he's buying a new GPU) at 4K: http://www.bit-tech.net/hardware/graphics/2014/09/19/nvidia-geforce-gtx-980-review/9 And this is our Valley(pretty much the best benchmark tool to measure raw GPU power) benchmark list at LTT. https://docs.google.com/spreadsheet/ccc?key=0AlC81MjwelBgdDdfZGdPbERhYi1YYjhXZVREX1ZtUFE#gid=2 Check the dual GPU table, clock speeds are there, all of them overclocked obviously. 980, 780Ti, Titan SLI all at top side by side. http://www.pcper.com/reviews/Graphics-Cards/NVIDIA-GTX-980-3-Way-and-4-Way-SLI-Performance/Skyrim Another poor SLI scaling from 980. You may say that it might be a driver issue but even then these tables won't change much. Some games are even worse than Skyrim. Overall, 900 series are good. But that doesn't justify its weaknesses. 980 is extremely overpriced compared to 970. When you overclock both of them there is like maybe %10 difference at most. But 980 almost has the double price of 970. This is why pretty much everyone is trying to get 970SLI instead of 980 SLI or single 980. And they are not as powerful as you think. This is why NVIDIA only promotes them as the "most advanced GPU ever made" and not the most powerful. 980SLI will most likely fail against a Titan Z when you use an ENB with heavy DOF and SSAO. This is mainly because of 900 series having less Shader units(Maxwell shader units are efficient being able to use up to 512 registers while Kepler can only use up to 341 BUT 980 has only 128 Shader units while 780Ti got 240 of them, so it actually sums up to 65536(Maxwell) versus 81849(Kepler) resulting in for Kepler(Titan Z-780Ti) being able to do %25 more tasks) compared to 700 series. Also we don't even know that SLI will cause any problems with ENB or not, I see a lot of people saying 900 series GPUs needs some workaround for ENB... And we never even talked about Titan Z having actually 1.5 times more VRAM.
  12. Sapphire is no cheap brand at all. They are actually one of the best partners of AMD. Just like EVGA being one of the best partners of NVIDIA. And if that was what you meant, it is generally "better" to buy those GPUs, instead of reference design. They offer much better cooling and much more room for overclocking. Also better design, although I really like reference NVIDIA blower.
  13. I think he generally means second-hand market. It all depends on the seller imo. If he cares, product will be clean and just as he promised. If he is a douche, you might get some headaches. And generally when you buy a CPU or GPU, it is good to make sure that the first owner didn't push it too far at high clocks with high voltages. That just decreases the lifespan. It's also better to buy products with active warranty service.
  14. Some people managed to get their hands on them before the cards ran out of stock, now they are trying to abuse the fact that the cards are no longer in production. Thus resulting in extremely high prices. If the seller is legit, like Amazon or EVGA's own site, it should be around 1500USD no matter what. Maybe even cheaper. Titan Z is already expensive as it is. No need to pay even more. http://www.bit-tech.net/hardware/graphics/2014/09/19/nvidia-geforce-gtx-980-review/9 (last table titan black vs single 980) 980 SLI is roughly equal to Titan Z(which is close 6GB 780Ti SLI(or simply Titan Black SLI) in performance. A good 980 SLI will cost around 1200-1250USD anyway. Titan Z's current official price is 1500USD, not 3 grand. Not much big of difference considering the fact that Titan Z has more VRAM.
  15. Obsolete for gaming is just an over exaggeration. Even a GTX 690 is still a beast when it comes to gaming just because it's a dual GPU card. Dual GPU cards don't age that quickly. Not gonna lie, Titan Z is kind of an expensive card but it is still quite powerful. No worries there. It's more like a rebranding than an upgrade. There are rumors that GTX 980 will change a little bit and it will be sold under a different title, just like AMD turned Radeon 7000 series into R9 2xx series. Most likely, there won't be more than %5 difference. And even that's debatable. But it's certain that NVIDIA will do some funky stuff with them. As far as I know, new architecture GPUs(called Pascal) are due to 2016. Till that, we will see things like Rebranded GTX 980, 8GB GTX 980, 980Ti, 960, Titan II and possibly 990.
  16. In my opinion, using Skyrim in a heavy scripted setup is never a good idea even with an i7. It's just that the engine has its limits. And just a quick note, I don't think 8GB GTX9xx cards are coming any time soon, it has been officially denied by both Nvidia and other good sources. You're gonna have to wait around 6 months to get them.
  17. I think you're mysterious enough. BTW I really like your mods :)
  18. I don't think we will see anything from NVidia before 2015. A lot of people were waiting for 8GB GTX 980 to be released in December but that has been denied by some good sources. But I should say that there are rumors for Titan II, 980Ti and 990. But I don't think they will be available before 6 months. It seems like they are having some hard times manufacturing, I understand tho, there is an insane demand. I'm still waiting to get one and it's not available in my country yet, lol. http://store.donanimhaber.com/1b/9c/8a/1B9C8A60A2FA241BAF4AC408DC7BC85F.jpg
  19. I know that there is a 3.1GB Limit but I think you can bypass that by using ENB. Not really sure. I actually haven't been close to that limit at all. But nonetheless, Titan Z is not just about VRAM, it's performance is pretty close to what you can achieve from 780Ti SLI. But since it has just a reference PCB and usual Nvidia design it doesn't have that much room for overclocking as opposed to 780Ti Classified Kingpin Edition.
  20. There is virtually no difference between an i5 and i7 if they are working at the same clock speeds. Hyper-Threading doesn't really help that much in gaming(at least not in every game(Skyrim is one of them)) and cache has nothing to do with gaming in general whatsoever. So if you really invested money on that hoping to get some noticeable performance gain over an i5, sorry pal, that was a bad investment. If I had enough money I would buy an i7 too, but in all seriousness, I wouldn't expect that much. You might be using all your available threads but that doesn't necessarily mean that you're getting more performance out of it, it just basically means that you're using them, that's all. It will probably, at best, just reduce the load on other threads.
  21. This kind of info helps a lot. Seen u help out in a lot of threads Amyr. Thanks a lot. I'm also trying to find a good GPU upgrade and this thread has been helpful. Guess I'll wait for the 970. Currently running a 3gb gtx 780 and wanting at least 4gb. Amyr, if I had $1000-$1500 to spend on a single GPU, could you make a suggestion? No one seems to actually want to make a specific suggestion in that price range. They only want to give philosophical advice on the matter. what about the new r9295x2 that came out? i think the EVGA one was like $1500 when I checked. I'd love a 6-8gb GPU that's fast. Ideally for that price range you would want to have something like 6GB version of 780Ti in SLI but unfortunately there are no 6GB 780Ti. But then again, if you really don't care that much about making the most of your money and you just wanna play Skyrim at 4K with lots of mods and ENB, your best bet is Titan Z as always. Personally, I don't see any reason to get 295X2 anymore. You can easily just get 980 SLI for the same price. And you won't have to bother with excessive heating, high power consumption, etc... Plus 980 SLI will be more powerful than a 295X2 once you overclock it. It is really so easy to get 1500MHz Core/2000MHz Memory on those cards.
  22. Depends on how closely you're looking at it and the object's size is also important. So basically these are all situational things, higher resolution doesn't necessarily mean it's always better. Sorry for the double post also. I think he was talking about the image quality, not the perspective with which you look at it, the image quality is better that's simply a fact you can't deny. Yeah I understand that but what I'm saying is that 8K might be better than 2K but do you really need 8K textures for everything? I don't think so.
  23. First, let get this straight, no one cares about that website. Or at least the people that know what they are talking about. That website, whatever the hell they're doing there, probably got the whole "dual GPU" concept wrong. Secondly, it doesn't mean that it will perform better in Skyrim just because it has a higher ranking in that website. Thinking this way is literally equal to not knowing anything about this stuff. I'm starting to think that you don't know the difference between GPU and a Graphics Card, and you might also literally think of 295X2 as 2 separate 295 cards. I hope that is not the case. It will be funny. And these are your own words: "Despite being beaten on performance by the basic NVIDIA GTX 980, the 295X2 is better for high-res due to having 8GB VRAM" You first implied that GTX 980 is more powerful than 295X2, which is totally wrong, and then you also implied that 295X2 has actual 8GB VRAM(like it is more than what 980 has) that you can use, which is also totally wrong. And when I tell you that it is not correct then you show us a crappy website that can't even do a mediocre job to handle multi GPU cards and then you tell us that it is irrelevant. For the sake of the community, I'm gonna give you some REAL benchmarks that you can check out; Unigine Heaven Unigine Valley 3D Mark Firestrike Extreme Pretty basic stuff that everyone should know, especially Valley benchmark is highly considered as a good tool to measure a GPU's raw power. It is probably the least CPU dependent combined benchmark out there.
  24. SSD will only help with the loading times. But generally game might fell smoother, just because you're not waiting 15-20 seconds every time you enter a building. And you should really get an Intel processor. That's all.
