  6. I was worried that I put too much out during each episode, but it's hard for me to cut it shorter since I have so much that I want to write. So, thank you for saying that it's not overwhelming. Also, thank you for the feedback, it's always appreciated. I love what I do and I don't care who has a problem with that.
  7. Episode 54-Data Sometime later, the Normandy had already left Omega. Within the ship, several of the crew members stood around, thinking about the events that took place within Omega. Tali and Traynor were chatting amongst each other not too far from where the rest of the crew was. Ashley: “So...the girls still haven’t spoken.” Liara: “No, they’ve remained silent since they saw the results of Maelon’s research.” Kasumi: “They seemed distraught about something, but they haven’t even told us why.” Thane: “From the looks on their faces, it can’t be anything good.” Garrus: “I just wish they would tell us...” FemShep: “We have to give them time. They will tell us when they feel they are ready to.” Garrus: “I understand that, but when will that be? I don’t want to have them say nothing to us for days.” FemShep: “This is something that they take seriously. There’s still so much that we don’t know about them or their civilization or even beliefs.” EDI: “I have been monitoring them for several hours. They seemed to have not said anything coherent, just constant rambling of how “it’s not possible” or “how could this be?” Just many statements similar to that over and over.” Kaidan: “They must really be scared. Whatever they found out there, they must be too scared to even think straight.” FemShep: “Let’s give them time. They will eventually tell us when they can.” Samara: “Yes, that sounds like something that is best.” Zaeed: “Poor girls, one thing after another with them.” Grunt: “Heh, they’re tough, they’ll be able to handle it somehow.” Wrex: “That may be, but they’re still young. They can’t handle everything that is flung in their direction.” Garrus: “Wrex does have a point. They shouldn’t be handling issues like this. They’re still adolescents.” Kasumi: “But isn’t that why we’re here for them?” Jacob: “That may be the case, but we’re struggling to comprehend a lot of this, ourselves.” Miranda: “The best we can do is give them some time. They’ll open up to us eventually. They do trust us, after all.” Garrus: “Fine. I understand the importance of being patient, but I don’t think I can stand around and wait for very long.” FemShep: “It’s the only thing we can do, Garrus. They will come around.” Garrus: “Yeah...I understand. I can’t force them to do anything. I wish I could....do something to get them to talk.” FemShep: “I understand that, but...for the time being, there really is nothing you can do.” Garrus looked at Jane, he seemed discontented and saddened. Jane had a look on her face, trying to reassure him. He seemed to acknowledge that and calmed down a bit. Tali and Traynor noticed this from where they stood. Kaidan: “By the way, what has Mordin been up to? I remember him making his way to the lab, almost as though his mind was preoccupied with something he urgently wanted to work on.” Garrus: “How should I know? Hardly anyone understands what goes on in his mind.” Tali was then seen walking up to the crew with Traynor. Tali: “Maybe Star would understand better than anyone else.” Garrus: “Yeah, perhaps she’s the only one in the galaxy, or even the universe for that matter, to ever understand him, considering her unusual interests in anything strange.” Kasumi: “Sounds a lot like her.” Traynor: “Oh, we can’t deny that.” EDI: “Hmm…I’m not exactly sure of this, myself, but he did request Javik to join him in the lab.” Kaidan: “What? What does he want that guy for?” EDI: “I think it involves the data he’s analyzing.” Everyone looked puzzled for a moment. Sometime later, Mordin was in the lab with Javik standing beside him, looking at a few images being projected. Shortly afterwards, several crew members showed up. Mordin: “Ah, good, you’re all here.” Garrus: “Care to tell us what you’re up to this time, professor?” Mordin: “Glad you asked. Been analyzing the data collected from the residual traces of magical energy, looking into each one bit by bit while also working on another special project of mine. As you can see, the image before you is the result of my research and special project.” They looked up at the image before them and saw what appeared to be a metropolis. Ashley: “What...is that?” Mordin: “It is an image of a metropolis that existed more than thousands of years ago.” Mordin then looked towards Javik. Mordin: “Back when the prothean were still around.” Everyone in the room became shocked. Liara: “Is this true?” Javik: “Yes, he is...correct.” Javik looked up at the image before them. Javik: “The image that you are seeing is a metropolis on a planet that you call Eden Prime.” Kaidan: “What!?!” Jacob: “You can’t be serious!!” Traynor: “Whoa! No way!!” Tali: “Is this...true?” Javik: “Yes....it is...exactly how it looked...all those years ago...” Everyone looked up at the image before them again. Kaidan: “There is...no way...anyone could...even know....what Eden Prime looked like...all those years ago...” Ashley: “How were you able to construct this image? Unless...” Kasumi: “This must be from the residual traces that were analyzed back on Eden Prime. Flare mentioned something about seeing an image much like this when she was meditating there, perceiving the images on that planet.” Mordin: “Correct. Flare mentioned something about perceiving images of the past from these residual traces. Been working on reconstructing those images from said traces, experimenting many times on the data. Was finally able to bring about the final results.” Kaidan: “Unbelievable....” Miranda: “This is...truly...a massive breakthrough.” Liara: “Now we’re able to see how the galaxy was like many years back. Perhaps we could see how it was during every era spanning back to the beginning of time.” Mordin: “Yes, that is possible, however, need to conduct one final experiment.” Garrus: “And what would that be?” Mordin: “That is something that needs to be done elsewhere. So, in order to do that, we’ll need to set a course for Eden Prime.” FemShep: “I see. That would make sense. We’ll set a course back to Eden Prime.” Kasumi: “So, what about the girls? Will we need to bring them with us?” EDI: “No, they’re still distraught. It is probably better that we do not bother them.” Garrus: “Fine by me. They’ll come to us when they’re ready to talk. So, until then, let’s leave them be. As much as I hate to do this, it’s better that we leave them alone for the time being.” Miranda: "Understood.” FemShep: “We’ll head down as soon as we arrive at Eden Prime.” Garrus: “Sounds like a plan.” FemShep: “Very well then. We’ll wait until then.” Several members were leaving. As Garrus was walking out, Mordin stopped him. Mordin: “Garrus!” Garrus: “Huh?” Mordin: “Perhaps it is time we tell Kaidan the truth about our involvement at Omega.” Garrus: “Ugh! Fine! Let’s get this over with.” They both approached Kaidan as he was about to leave. Mordin: “Kaidan, may we have a word with you?” Kaidan: “Huh? Um, sure, what is this about?” Mordin: “Just come with us, please.” They left together. A little while afterwards, Kaidan was in the Recreation Room with Garrus and Mordin. Kaidan had already heard everything from both of them. Kaidan: “So, let me see if I got this right: you guys were on Omega and among the reasons why Shepard went there was to recruit both of you?” Mordin: “That is correct.” Kaidan: “But what were you guys doing there? I...I just...don’t understand.” Mordin: “Had already opened a clinic within one of the districts. Helped many people, left behind a place where people within the nearby area can go to heal from injuries or ailments. Shepard needed me because of my expertise in genetics as well as a means of gaining the upper hand against the Collectives. Had already cured a genetically engineered plague created by the Collectors and dispersed by the vorcha.” Kaidan: “That’s....interesting. Well...I guess what you did was good. And as for you, Garrus, you started a small group devoted to decimating gangs, criminals and infamous mercenary groups?” Garrus: “That’s right. Omega seemed like a great place to clean out a lot of the strife-inducing scum along with a dozen other men that wanted to get even with many of them. Unfortunately, almost all of my men ended up killed. I was the only survivor. That and...Sidonis. He was forced to help the mercenary groups in purging my group as well as myself. When Shepard found me, I was already cornered in our base of operations, trying desperately to fight back against all 3 of those mercenary groups that teamed up to try and kill me.” Kaidan: “Whoa, I’m surprised that you had the Eclipse, the Blue Suns and the Blood Pack trying to hunt you down. I can’t help but admit that I’m impressed.” Garrus: “Yeah, but...I almost didn’t make it. Thankfully, I was able to be reassembled with surgery and some cybernetics.” He then pointed to the right side of his face that displayed a nasty scar. Garrus: “This scar that I have here was caused by the rocket that I took to the face. It will forever be a reminder of the day that I almost died.” Kaidan: “You’ve really been through a lot.” Garrus: “Yeah, too bad I hardly did much to make a difference. I even lost so many of my men. They were all good people, wanting to make a difference in Omega, just like me, but...it all ended up futile. Some leader I turned out to be.” Kaidan: “That’s rough. I’m sorry to hear about what you’ve been through.” Garrus: “Yeah, but my skills have earned me a position back on the Normandy and Shepard’s crew. The Illusive Man seemed impressed by a lot of my skills.” Kaidan: “Hm, so, Archangel, huh? That’s a nice little nickname you have.” Garrus: “Heh, yeah, that was the alias I went by on Omega. I pretty much became like an icon within Omega, one of which many wanted me dead.” Kaidan: “So, how did you come across that alias?” Garrus: “I think it happened back around the time I arrived on Omega. I saw this thug shaking down this elderly couple, so I went over to defend them. They said that I was a real live angel. Hence the name Archangel.” Kaidan: “Yeah, that does make sense.” Garrus: “Great, so we’ve managed to tell you everything that you needed to know. Are you good with what you’ve heard?” Kaidan: “I can’t say I’m pleased with you guys being on Omega in the first place. That place is a crime-infested armpit of the galaxy. I wouldn’t set foot on that station even if I had any good reason to.” Garrus: “Yeah, it’s not exactly the best place in the galaxy to live, but there are good people that live in Omega.” Mordin nodded. Garrus: “My men were among them. I met a lot of others who wanted to get revenge on those b******* one way or another." Kaidan: “Well, yeah, I can understand that. You’ve always wanted to take matters into your own hands, so what you told me, I’m not really too surprised. I just had no idea that you were held down that badly. But with the massive amount of red tape involved, it seemed like it was only a matter of time.” Garrus: “Of course. I don’t think I could start again what I did on Omega. My judgment wasn’t exactly top notch. I feel like being here, on the Normandy, it’s been a better fit for me.” Kaidan: “That seems to be true for a lot of us.” Mordin: “Indeed, being part of this, it gives all of us purpose, including myself. Made a lot of difficult choices. Not proud of what I have done. Had to live with the guilt of my mistakes in the past.” Kaidan: “Is that why you were in Omega, Mordin?” Mordin: “Yes, part of it. Another being that there were people who needed my help. Left behind something that will continue to help many more for years to come.” Kaidan: “Well...we all feel that we need to make our mark in the galaxy, even in some...questionable places.” Garrus: “No kidding. Sometimes, it’s one of the best places to leave a mark; it is where most of our actions are more easily recognized after all.” Kaidan: “That may be true, but now, we have something else that will leave a lasting impression in the galaxy.” Garrus: “That would be putting it lightly.” Mordin: “Hm, indeed.” Garrus: “And I’m sorry to say this, but we’re going to need to return to Omega every now and then.” Kaidan: “I don’t approve of it, but I guess we all need to do what has to be done.” Mordin: “Indeed. Have plenty of allies there, always willing to help out with this endeavor.” Garrus: “I would consider anyone who would help to take down that vigilante b****** an ally, they would even be considered close, personal friends since I would be all too happy.” Kaidan: “Yeah, that I can’t argue with. That psychopath has shown to be far worse than any criminal scum in this galaxy.” Mordin: “No arguments here.” Garrus: “OK then, let’s continue with helping the girls to take down that lowly scum of the universe.” Mordin: “Of course, but first, need to take care of an experiment of mine.” Garrus: “And that would be the one that we need to be on Eden Prime for, right?” Mordin: “Of course. If this experiment is successful, could go a long way to solving many mysteries of the galaxy.” Garrus: “Well, I’m impressed with what I’ve seen so far, so I’ll take your word that you won’t disappoint.” Mordin: “Can’t make any promises, but all of you will be amazed if the experiment is successful.” Garrus: “I’ll hold you to it, doctor.” Kaidan: “So, what about the girls? I know we agreed to leave them be, but I just wanted to make absolutely sure that they’re not needed for this.” Garrus: “Don’t worry, I don’t think we should even bother them, especially if they’re still in a distraught state. If they’re ready to approach us, then they will let us know.” Kaidan: “I understand. I just hope that....they’ll be able to pull through from it.” Mordin: “They will. Just give them time. They will bounce back when they can.” Garrus: “For now, it’s better to just let them be.” Kaidan: “Sure, I won’t even think about approaching them. I’ll let them decide for themselves when they’re ready.” Garrus: “Alright, so we’ll just need to wait till we reach Eden Prime and then get on with viewing the doctor’s experiment.” Kaidan: “And then what will we do from there?” Mordin: “Uncertain. Won’t know what other tasks need to be done but would like to look over more of the data from the residual traces. Also, look into other planets where there are other strong traces of the residual magical energy.” Kaidan: “I hear that pretty much the entire galaxy is looking into these traces.” Mordin: “Indeed, it’s an ongoing investigation, but we are finding out little by little about the nature behind them. I, of course, have been leading the investigation as all findings are reported back to me.” Garrus: “That’s a given considering that you’re the only one who could find out anything about these mysterious readings.” Mordin: “Can’t take all the credit. The girls have helped out tremendously. The readings of their own natural energy has made identifying these traces possible.” Garrus: “Well, let’s keep at it. The more we find out, the more we’ll be able to help the girls.” Mordin: “Yes, that as well as find out the many mysteries within our galaxy.” Garrus: “That, too.” Kaidan: “Well, if there’s anything that you guys need help with, I’m here. I want to do what I can.” Mordin: “Your presence has helped us out in more ways than one. Thankfully, collecting data from you is no trouble considering that you need to have medical scans on a regular basis.” Kaidan: “Dr. Chakwas has been checking up on me repeatedly. I can understand why; she’s just doing her job.” Garrus: "That and she cares about you, so she worries about you constantly.” Kaidan: “Yeah, I know.” Garrus: “Well then, I think we should be arriving back at Eden Prime soon. We should get ready.” Mordin: “Of course. Will need to seek out Javik again since his involvement is crucial to my experiment.” Kaidan: “Great, let’s go meet with the others then.” All 3 of them left the Recreational Room. A short while afterwards, the Normandy arrived back at Eden Prime. A small shuttle made its way towards the planet. It eventually landed on the planet's surface again. Several crew members stepped out. Kasumi: “Well now, we’re back here again.” Traynor: “It’s a shame the girls can’t be here with us this time.” Garrus: “We already went over this. Let’s leave them be. They’re already dealing a lot as it is.” Traynor: “I know, I know.” Thane: “Now then, about this experiment of yours, doctor.” Mordin: “Of course.” Mordin went on his omni-tool. Mordin: “What you have seen back at my lab was just a small projector. Been working on a massive projector that will display images from the data.” Jacob: “I’m afraid I don’t follow.” Mordin: “Basically, was able to build a massive projector that will create an artificial image of what different places looked like during previous timelines. An illusion, per se.” Miranda: “An illusion? You don’t mean...?” Liara: “You can actually make places look like what they used to have been?” Mordin: “Precisely. Have chosen this location considering this place was once a prothean civilization many years back.” Everyone was surprised. Ashley: “What!?! Are you saying that...?” Mordin: “If the experiment is successful, then we will be able to see what this place looked like exactly how it was all those years ago.” Kaidan: “Unbelievable!!!” Ashley: “Can it really be done!?!” Mordin: “Not certain, hoping that it will, which is exactly why I need to run this experiment.” Javik: “And you need me here to confirm that this image creates exactly what it looked like.” Mordin: “Exactly.” Garrus: “Whoa...that...is a really big feat.” Tali: “That actually is amazing!!!” Ashley: “How long have you been working on this?” Mordin: “Since the previous time that we were here. During Flare’s endeavor to perceive the images of the past from the residual traces that still remain, was able to scan and collect the data from those traces. Have also been working on my other project that regards creating vivid images from those traces.” Liara: “As a means of being able to see what the galaxy looked like during particular eras in time.” Mordin: “Yes, exactly.” Traylor: “Oh, wow!! I can’t believe this!!” Cortez: “This would really be a tremendous breakthrough if such a thing can actually be done.” Mordin: “And if this succeeds, then the data will be sent to the other research teams for analysis.” Jack: “Including the ones back at Grissom?” Mordin: “Yes, be sure to deliver this to the research students so that they can look into this.” Jack: “Heh! Will do.” Mordin: “Now then, have input the needed data and will start with switching on the projector.” Tali: “This is going to be good.” Traynor: “Ohhh! I’m so excited to see what this would look like!!” Soon enough, after having fiddled with his omni-tool, Mordin was able to change the scenery around them. Everyone watched as everything around them began to change. Before they knew it, they were surrounded by a massive metropolis. Everyone stood around in awe of everything that they had seen. Ashley: “Whoa...this is...!!” Liara: “Could this be....is this....?” Cortez: “Whoa....!!! I had no idea a massive metropolis was actually here.” Mordin stood around, smiling as he marveled at the massive, realistic image before him. He then looked towards Javik who stood around in awe of everything that he was seeing. Mordin: “So, tell me, is this what this place looked like around your time?” Javik stood by, speechless for a bit before he was able to find his words again. Javik: “Yes...this is...exactly what this place looked like. I remember it all. My home.....my civilization...it is...as though...you brought everything back for me, everything that I have lost.” Mordin: “Do not get your hopes up. This is just a simulation. Nothing that you’ve ever known was actually brought back.” Javik: “I know. This illusion is not the same as bringing back my fallen civilization, but...it all looks so real...this is the closest to the return of my people that we will ever receive.” Garrus: “No kidding. This really is amazing.” Tali: “I know, it feels like we’ve actually stepped back in time.” Liara: “You’ve done it, doctor. You’ve actually been able to successfully rebuild glimpses of the past.” Mordin: “All this was thanks to everyone involved, many research teams, the girls, everyone. Was able to bring them all together. Couldn’t have done this successfully by myself.” Kasumi: “I have to admit that the protheans were impressive architects.” Liara: “Yes, they sure were. I’ve always known that.” Everyone continued to stand around and marvel at the realistic image of the prothean city before them. A little time afterwards, the crew returned to the ship. A few of them returned to the lab, surprised to find that the girls were standing before them. They seemed less distraught and had serious looks on their faces. Liara: “Oh, girls. I didn’t expect you...” Jewel: “Sorry to surprise you, but we have something important that we need to tell all of you.” FemShep: “Of course. Whatever you need to say, we’re here.” Jewel: “We’re sorry about how we were. We just...we were shocked by what we saw back on Omega.” Garrus: “Don’t apologize. We knew that it was something that you knew about.” Liara: “We were willing to wait until you felt ready to tell us about what you know.” Jewel: “Thank you. We definitely needed the time to process what we had just seen, but we’re fine now.” Kasumi: “I would ask if everything is OK, but from the looks on your faces...” Ashley: “Yeah, we could tell that it was something bad.” Tali: “Or something to that effect.” The girls hung their heads a little, their faces seemed a little more tense. Jewel: “Yeah, it is bad, something really bad.” The crew members were a little startled by this. FemShep: “How bad is it?” Jewel didn’t say anything, then proceeded to walk over towards the table where the console was. Her friends stood close by on the other end of the table, the crew members stood by them. Mordin walked over right next to her. Jewel then went on the console and started fiddling on it. As she fiddled on it, images were displayed from the projector. She would toss images as they appeared near her, they continued watching as she brought everything together. The images were those of the animals from the memory crystals. Each one was grouped with different images of galaxies. She was eventually finished, she stood before the images with a serious look on her face. The crew members stood in awe of what they were seeing. The different images of galaxies surrounded by a Light aura. They seemed spellbound by what they were seeing. The girls still had serious looks on their faces. Ashley: “What...is this....?” Liara: “What...what could any of this mean....?” Jewel: “A bad sign. Something that shouldn’t even be possible.” They continued to stare at the images before them, still spellbound at what they were seeing.
