Started getting an infinite loading screen after I went to Chris Haversam to talk about rocket components. Got one, went back to him, then an infinite loading screen when trying to go back to the REPCONN Basement. Infinite loading screen on loading my save once, too. And again when I fast travel to a location. Damn this game is garbage... Not heavily modded. 4GB Patcher Installed. Anyone's guess is as good as mine. Oblivion modded is more stable than this steaming pile of diarrhea. Been playing for hours without problems and all of the sudden. Using MO2. And I understand the game wasn't intended for it, but I could've sworn i've been using it because I saw some other users on YouTube using MO before. And when I first started playing the game 4 years ago I exclusively used MO. Logged 160ish hours. I'm resurrecting this thread because I may as well and not bother with creating a new one. Plus, I haven't gotten back to New Vegas until now. Yeah, this whole process doesn't make much sense and is just confusing. I've modded Skyrim EXTENSIVELY, OBLIVION of all things, and even Fallout 3. This never seemed to be a problem. I still barely understand what you're saying here. Or at least in context to what's happening. I think i've installed countless Skyrim mods that are the exact same as Fallout Character Overhaul and have an installer. Whatever you don't choose doesn't end up having an ESP. Plain and simple. But unpacking? WHA? I don't understand. I downloaded a mod. I decompress the thing as part of the installation process directly through my mod tool - i'm using Mod Organizer 2 - and it goes through the installation process. And it seems as if you're thinking i'm doing this in some other fashion NOT involving a mod management tool? I think i'd rather put a gun in my mouth. Because I can't even grasp how that could possibly work. For organization's sake alone. No, i'm definitely using a mod manager. Always have been. Only haven't in the days of old when modding Oblivion and dumping everything into the game Data folder and overwriting was considered "normal" for some damn reason. You're suggesting I go in there doctor style, decompress downloaded mods and pick apart what I want and don't want? Then how would such a mod involving an installer even work? The fact that it has an installer and this is happening in the first place is probably the most confusing thing of all.

Fixed an issue, caused new problems
Prenihility replied to Prenihility's topic in Fallout 3's Mod Troubleshooting
HUH? I own the game on Steam. So it's a Steam game. Why wouldn't I use the Steam Overlay. And it doesn't log play hours, either. I'm using MO2. Everything worked fine until I changed the name of the fose_loader exe as advised by countless people who want to launch the game with FOSE and have the Steam overlay, plus have hours logged. I use the getfoseversion command and it detects that I have FOSE installed. Only now, my mods requiring it no longer work. -
Alright. So I finally solved an issue I had with the Steam Overlay not working with FO3. It was a simple fix. Renaming the FalloutLauncher and fose_loader .EXEs. I now simply launch from Steam and use "getfoseversion" to confirm I have FOSE installed. Says version: 1. But now when I load a save, it says it relies on missing content. I had EVE installed, WMK, and Project Reality. I think all 3 aren't working now. I'm assuming my altering of the FOSE_Loader name messed something up? Also, the game seems to lock up for whatever reason inside Regulator HQ after several seconds. Audio plays, game just doesn't respond. But what exactly? And what can I do to get things working again?

As to why this game runs into 40-45 FPS sometimes in certain situations. I stand by the river looking at Mixwater Mill and if I back up further in full view of some trees, I get a performance hit. Running an i5 6500 at 3.2GHz. A 4GB SSC 960. 8GB RAM. ENBoost installed ages ago. I really don't understand this game. I even turned Shadows down to Medium because it gave me a massive performance increase in Bruma in an areas where - again I was having trouble for some reason. Why? Well, I don't know. All I can really draw on is this game is to mathematical imprecision to what Id Software is to optimization and programming excellence. Fallout 4 actually runs better than Skyrim. Do I just have too many mods for LE? I even used Rivatuner to look at how much VRAM i'm using. And it never caps from what I remember. Never even gets dangerously close. I'm telling you, folks. Mixwater Mill. It apparently kills systems. It's like Crysis back in the day to a 9800 GT... Pff-ff-ff. This game... What a joke. Also have Optimized Vanilla Textures and they don't seem to show up in LO. I got them after a user suggested I get them to help with Bruma Performance. I couldn't tell the difference. The problem is, I really, really want to play the game. But I don't at the same time because, you know. Reasons? My Load order. I've had performance issues for a while now with Bruma - and still do - but I also had some in a lot of areas in Skyrim around heavy foliage. I finally figured out it was ishadowmapresolution. It was set way too high and killing performance. That's no longer an issue. However, I thought to myself, perhaps there's something that just doesn't agree with Bruma and that's why around the Western Watchtower, when looking East to the big trees in the woods, my performance tanks, badly. iMultiSample is another thing the STEP guide considers far too performance intensive. Is there anything else? Something that might be clashing with the woods? Idk. I outright uninstalled SFO. I was just sick of it, too taking away performance. And it stopped responding to .ini tweaks. But w/e, i'm not really talking about that. There some ini setting worth investigating that might help me?
-
I have the proper lines in skyrimprefs.ini spelled exactly as they're supposed to be. Grass is massive and kills my performance. I think it's what was causing my performance issues all along. As well as iShadowMapResolution set to 4096. I make changes but nothing happens...

It didn't seem to do anything. I even went back to Skyrim and on the road between Kynsegrove and Narzulbur, I go down to 40 FPS. I removed SFO with minimal differences in FPS. I got rid of Immersive Roads, same thing. Then I got rid of Skysight. It bumped it up by about 10 FPS up to 50. When I turn around and look towards Raldbthur or whatever the hell it's called on the mountain, I get around 47 FPS. This game really makes no sense to me. I just played Fallout 4 and in the worst case scenario when looking at objects drawn in the distance it's like... what? 60 FPS? It's whatever the hell I want it to be. Because changing settings in that game actually makes a difference. EDIT: Can confirm, Gamebryo/Bethesda/Skyrim phuckery at its best. Changed to 1280 x 720 from 1440p with no difference in performance... GG

I can, err... somehow live with crap FPS and some stuttering inside the city walls. But then I go outside, and DING, DING, DING! I find a NEW AREA where FPS is garbage. I go on the road leading to Applewatch, or the signpost where it says Applewatch. And i'm getting about 30 FPS. I still can't connect what causes these issues. At this point, I don't even want to discuss hardware. If someone credible could give me a rationalization as to why performance is crap in this mod, i'll leave it be, and stop playing this game altogether. I've got a 4GB 960 that goes all the way to 1342 core clock can push ITSELF further thanks to great cooling and low temperatures inside my case. I feel like this game is trolling me at this point. Oddly enough I ran into an issue with New Vegas just the other day, same thing. Inexplicable low FPS in ONE specific area after modding. I install the "Stutter Remover" in DESPERATION, and I didn't think it would do anything, honestly. I thought it was just more GameBryo, mathematical IMPRECISION. And I literally have perfect performance now. Does such a thing exist for Skyrim? I've removed my HiRes packs. No performance change. I DID remove SFO and left a message in the comments section of the mod about this. I didn't think it interacted with mods at all. It adds A LOT of grass to Bruma's inner walls. In certain places. And using Grass On Steroids does nothing. I have my iMinGrassSize setting all the way to 140-150. It didn't help much. But removing the mod gave me another 10 FPS around the Applewatch road/wherever it was. The grass is simply massive. No other way to describe it. And there's a lot of it. Last time I complained of crap performance, someone told me in their educated opinion, it sounded like I was running into VRAM issues. But I removed some texture mods with Z-E-R-O performance changes. # This file was automatically generated by Mod Organizer. Has since been fixed. Author put out a new version of Nevada Skies just yesterday, lucky me. And no issues with crashing. I now have an issue with the game stuttering when I look around/aim. And FPS drops to around 50 in certain areas. Just like Skyrim. And this being the old game it is, it makes even less sense. I went around to where the GoodSprings settler is attacked by Geckos and FPS dropped. *sigh*

I want to talk about best practice for mod installation and dealing with multiple ESPs post-installation of a mod, particularly in situations that call for only ONE being used at a time, as well as ESPs appearing post-installation that you haven't even checked off as options. I've encountered two mods already that dump extra ESPs into your data folder and load order despite the fact that only one can be used at a time, or either you literally didn't even check it in its own INSTALLER yet it appears. Why? Well i'm not sure. Nevada Skies for example. You have to choose the appropriate option. Sure. No problem. I have all DLCs and Pre-Order Packs. I use the merged files of both and use the Ultimate DLC edition. But I still have TWW and Basic Edition ESPs. So I figure, no problem? Just uncheck the ESPs. That's what I thought was what you're supposed to do. Whenever I post my Load Order people point out my "mistakes" when they see these extra ESPs despite the fact I don't have them activated. FCO, another one. This time, even dumber. This thing has its own installer. It has options for Clean Teeth, Companions and whatever the hell else may be applicable to you depending on what other mods you use. Do I have the Russell Companion? Nope. Did I check it off during installation in the installer? Nope. Did I end up with the FCO - Russell ESP? Yeah! So apparently unchecking does nothing? My 4 years of playing Skyrim and modding apparently didn't teach me squat, as they're supposedly still loaded into memory and whatnot. So that's why I'm having my game crash. So how on earth do you install these mods properly? What am I doing wrong? The installation instructions don't describe either of these situations. What do I have to do to fix this? And what's the proper way of removing unneeded parts of mods? And also, for the sake of discussion, why do they come packed in with the mod in those situations where you are only able to use one? You apparently have to go through some process of removing said content which is redundant and useless. ?
-
How do you uninstall specific plugins? I thought that was the whole point in being able to uncheck and check them. I literally installed Nevada Skies... and it comes with more than one plugin. By "uninstall" do you mean delete? I've never heard of an uninstallation process for plugins other than uninstalling the associated mod. Same with Russell. Came with FCO. I didn't even check it during the installation process and it's still there.

Nuked all my mods. Yes, I have the 4GB patch for NMC Textures. Don't have Russell, ESP not active, only one is for Nevada Skies. Unsure of why people always don't seem to know the ESPs are in LO always despite not being active. I didn't take the time to delete them, they come with the mod. My Load Order is looking really simple. And this game still has issues. W00T!
