  1. I think this model would be great for Rex:

    http://www.newvegasnexus.com/downloads/file.php?id=41117

That model is a great body start, but I think the head neads to be completely changed, and the legs are a little thin.

And to Laochra, I didn't know that he was Caesars dog before. Still, Rex is Awful (With a capital A) he has no personality, doesn't really look cool, and has no real quest tied to him besides the one upgrade.

He needs to be scrapped and replaced with K-9, or at least something with a little more substance but still fits the name "Cyberdog"

  2. Weeping Angels.

I love the weeping angels from Doctor Who, maybe you can convince the modder/maker of "Fallout Who" to make them.

I'd think the GoW town idea would be a great quest mod or addition to a mod like Eve-9000 (A series of rooms with both creatures and statues) or to a zombie mod...perhaps a town is like GoW, and you have to aquire some object through the zombie statue streets of (Vegas, Novac, etc.)

  3. You could probably use collision detection to tell when nothing is around you, and then have the items/people spawn in a random number within the range of 9-36 feet away from you. The bridge encounter would be impossible with what I just said though...

That was one of the main issues is that some encounters required whole areas to be "cut-off" from the wasteland. However your method is similar to what I had in mind originally before I altered it to method 2 I believe.

That method could be used for simpler encounters like NPCs and "Wild Wasteland" like objects.

  4. Let's say there's a Vault. One big Vault that's basically two Vaults rammed head-first into each other. Vault 58A and Vault 58B. Dwellers would enter through an opening in the top, which would be promptly sealed to make it look like the Vaults we're all used to. Both Vaults contain a full population of 1000, but each sub-Vault's population would have to look somewhat uniform. Like Vault A's population would all be blonde haired and blue eyed, Vault B would be all redheads with green eyes, anything else than what's defined as "the norm" would have to be promptly killed, lest the entire Vault be killed.

After a few generations the idea is established that there's only one way out, and that's through the big metal door in the front room since to both sides it seems that there's only one Vault. This goes on for a while until bam, cue the door opening. The real 'only way out' is revealed: both Overseers have the keycard to a door at the back of the other sub-Vault. The only way to get the doors open is to have both keycards inserted at the exact same instant. Either they can get over minor differences and co-operate, or try to take the other's card by force.

  5. i was thinking y not remake fallout 1 and 2 or at least make vr simulations in newvegas that allow u to fight the same final bosses as the vault dweller and chosen one the textures are the only possible issue as the master looks kinda weird and misshapen frank horrigan should be alil easier to make with his trade mark plasma caster the sounds taken from those games should make it possible to at least replicate small amount of major events in those games like the Navarro base Sergent arch dorman (lol) speaking to the president etc if remaking the whole game would prove too big of a task

Thats already in progress in several mods, most promineintly in Fallout 2161 on moddb.com and Project California here on Nexus

  6. Here are just some "Snippet" ideas from my other copy of this thread.

A Sierra-Madre style hologram. Just one of those that recorded the last moments of a woman, and now has her personality as a result.

Companion Perk: Ghost In The Machine. Always allowed to attempt to hack computers, regardless of science skill.

Side-Quest: Back In The Spotlight. Convince the Tops theatre to let her perform. Perk Gained: Star Of The Show. Gains the 'Meltdown' perk effect to her holo-laser.

    Name:Gregory Fish

Appearance: Similar to a more human-like centaur he has the base body structure of a supermutant with most of his skin falling off. He has three bony arms growing out of his back presumably from reanimated feral ghouls.

Backstory: He was a scientist hired by the NCR to "cure" supermutants of their affliction but his experiments were really involving improving ghouls, supermutants, humans, etc. His experiments backfired transforming himself into the horrible monstrosity he is today.

  7. WOW so far these all look great i am looking forward to seeing these in game someday. I really like The "Child of The Great War Powered Combat" and the "Legion Made Roman Styled power armor" a lot. Keep the ideas coming. Can't wait to see more awesome ideas!

I'd like to see that too, so to my readers if you know of any original Power armor designs (not from other games, so no Halo, killzone, etc. or based on the vanilla armor such as retextures are not new armor.)

  8. I would experiment with subliminal contact and messaging.

Not to give orders like one of the vaults in F3, but instead to see how it would turn out.

Put two people in a sealed room, with no windows, and only a light and a vent. The Speaker, as I would call him, would read verses from various songs, scriptures, books, etc. to them, and I would watch the outcome.

I just told you What and How I would test, but I didn't mention why: Because I havern't put that much into this yet

A Vault filled with talented people and medical pratctioners, and a large amount of mentally handicapped people as well. As a test on the care-taking of people how could've been damaged during the space travel thing you linked in your Enclave thread which I never knew they made the bad vaults and did it for space travel awesome.

Leave a human woman in a vault with nothing but chocolate cake, a murderous and sarcastic A.I., and a quantum portalling device.

    oh wait....

    This idea is a lie.....

    This idea is a lie.......

    This idea is a lie.........

    This idea is a lie............

  9. Sad to see this thread didn't hold up as well as my other threads did in terms of keeping relevent without me.

I encourage new readers to read the thread from around page 3 and I bet you'll be interested quickly.

  10. @Sagittarius22 It'd be great if you helped develope this mod. I'd recommend contacting either Omega (The One on this thread) or anyone involved the either the "Run The Lucky 38" Mod, or the people working on Project California since they are interested in Cassidy as well.

    @Laochra

It's not that, I merely imagined that most saavy wastelanders don't travel or explore much during winter since I imagined the world as having harsh seasons and the added danger that a person in brown leather would be easy to spot in snow fields. And on the direction note. Cassidy originally mentioned that he'd "ended up in a few scraps with the locals" when he wandered around, I took this as that he doesn't ever just "go straight" to his destination but instead meanders around it.

And I've tried to avoid including House as much as possible, since I know that modders can't add more spoken lines to House without sounding horrible, and It'd be strange that he never mentions him, so I've tried to keep House as loosely connected as can be.

Thanks for the replys you two.

  11. Alright everyone i've recently returned to the forums, so I felt that I should share the original plot/backstory of Cassidy up until the events of New Vegas. Me and Omega were debating some of the details so if/(hopefully "when") this mod is released some things about the story may change.

I tried to write his entire story from the end of Fallout 2 to the time where he is put in stasis, I tried to not go into too much detail in some parts. Let me or Omega know if you want to add any ideas or anything about Cassidy after you've read it.

Also I followed the timeline so the years are right, and the part about House is partly true (His coma until 2138) the rest is all new and original plot I've written.

After his travels with the Chosen One of Arroyo, John McRae Cassidy still wandered the wastes of California, deciding that in the end, he never enjoyed staying in one area, and most towns still felt as restricting as Vault City had to him all those years.

His name was already one of repute due to his accomplisments while traveling with the Chosen One, yet he became a symbol to many in the wastes as a dangerous and good man. After traveling he was approached by many of the people he'd helped with the Chosen One and continued to spread his brand of justice across California working with various organizations like the NCR rangers, Brotherhood Of Steel, and many other smaller groups from various settlements. Every settlement he went he was idolized and loved, even by the sin-filled streets of New Reno due to him being a part of the wanderers who helped the Wright family take control of the settlement and somewhat restore it.

[Year 2243...About one year after the destruction of the Enclave Oil Rig off the coast of San Fransico]

The blossoming garden settlement of Arroyo begins a tradition since its rebirth is nearly complete, to call back all of the individuals who had helped defeat the Enclave, Cassidy being one of the few left since several of the other followers had died or disappeared in the year since the journey. (Marcus went East w/o anyone knowing (Till New vegas), K-9 ended up dissected by enclave remnants, Sulik became a medicine man, Myron is killed ironically by a jet addict since he invented the drug, etc.)

During the celebration The Chosen One, Cassidy, and remaining followers were all honored and loved by the village residents which now was a mix of many people due to the journey. Among these people is the tribal woman who eventually becomes Cass' mother.

[skipping ahead now to Cass' birth in 2244]

Early in 2244 after finishing a job with the Brotherhood, Cassidy is rewarded by the scribes with various old books that were uninteresting to the Brotherhood. One of the books becomes particularly memorable to Cassidy, a book called "The Grapes of Wraith."

Cassidy's old bones help bring new life into the world suprisingly to all involved. He has a fiery red-haired daughter and decides to name her after a character from a book, just as his father named him after a character from a comic. And thus Sharon "Cass" Cassidy is born.

[From here we will assume Cassidy left when Cass was around 3-4 years old]

    [Year 2246]

Cassidy has watched as his child has grown. However he finds that in his role as a father he worries for her health as he knows she will struggle with what he passed onto her for the rest of her life, just as he has.

    [Year 2246, Fall]

He begins to go out on small expeditions into possible medical ruins for a way to heal his heart as well as his daughters. With each expedition Cassidy becomes convienced that he'll need to travel farther to find untouched supplies and knowledge from pre-war. During this year he also begins to feel the urge to wander again.

    [Fall-Winter]

We can put in funny and interesting adventures here.

    [Year 2247]

    [spring]

Cassidy accompanies an NCR expedition to a rumored cache of pre-war tech and information, they find nothing left but a scavenged jeweley store, after searching nothing valuable is found, as the group is leaving Cassidy stumbles upon a display box buried in the rubble. It simply says "Rose" in a gold script and inside is a red gemstone necklace.

    [summer]

During an expedition to a deserted city, Cassidy finds pre-war holotapes in a scavenged hospital about the advances made by the Commonwealths of the East Coast at the time. (Before the war, the U.S split apart into 13 large Commonwealths made up of several states.) Seeing a chance of finding either technology or wasters who can help solve the heart condition, and driven by his recurring urge to walk the wastes. He makes a final trip home and leaves behind nothing but a name, necklace, and an empty bottle of whiskey. (As told by Cass')

    [Fall-Winter]

We can put in funny and interesting adventures here.

    [Year 2248]

    [Late Winter-Early Spring]

Having left his family behind in the summer of 2247, Cassidy has endured new troubles in the wastes, His intended destination being the Massachusetts Commonwealth, Cassidy has found he is far off-course. Ending up in Arizona and The Great Divide. he's learned that life in the wasteland is truely varied everywhere and has encountered settlements in the strangest of places. Including a city underground named "The Down Low" where the people expanded the city by simply digging into the walls or floor. It was in this city where he was told that heading north and the East would be a faster and safer journey then trying to travel through Texas and the Great swamps of the South-east.

    [December]

Thus at the end of 2248, Cassidy began to travel North towards Neveda, and unknowingly New Vegas.

    [Year 2249]

Cassidy enters the Mojave, Finding it to be nothing but desert and wasteland, inhabited only by generic tribals and raiders. He stumbles acrosss the empty city of Nipton (before the city is inhabited and destroyed) and stays in one of the homes for a time. When he leaves it, he leaves behind something. (I haven't thought of what he should leave yet, but I felt it'd be an idea to expand on him a little.)

After leaving Nipton, he walks up the nearby hill and uses it as a viewpoint for the local land.(The "Hill" is where the Mojave Outpost will be set-up in the future.) After reaching the clifftop beside the hill he sees the ruins of Vegas for the first time, deciding that a large ruined city seems most likely to have food, supplies, and likely a settlement or two. He begins his trek towards the strip.

On the first night on his way towards Vegas, Cassidy encounters some of the new creatures of the wasteland, the Night Stalkers, he dispatches them quickly without getting harmed. However the attack reaffrims that the city is his best place for resupplying and shelter from the local wilflife.

The following afternoon, Cassidy is unfortunate enough to run into the Legendary Deathclaw, the same that the courier can encounter in the events of Fallout: New Vegas. In this battle he does not get away unharmed, both Cassidy and his gun took swipes from the abnormal deathclaw, His favorite sawed-off shotgun forever scarred with large claw marks from the encounter.

However after escaping, he finally reaches Vegas in the late evening before dusk, finding the city empty except for small tribes of raiders and rats. Going unnoticed....Cassidy found that the largest building, called "The Lucky 38" was not only abandoned and locked, but also in the best condition in the city. Cassidy figured it had better security in pre-war times whicih kept out the raiders and kept it from being a ruin after the war. Cassidy being more intelligent than the locals and better equipped to force an entrance, made his way inside the casino.

As he looked around, he found rows and columns of strange disabled robots with only a wheel instead of legs. Moving on, he made his way further into the Lucky 38.

All the while however, beneath Cassidy layed Mr. House, who had succeed in preserving himself in his human body. After living through the event of the Great War, House suffered system crashes and power failures due to his unstable OS, causing him to become comatose until the year 2138, at which time he simply watched the tribals and raiders of Vegas without intervening. However, House still experienced difficulties with his life-support since the intial failures couldn't be repaired by remote access and his securitrons were not equipped for such delicate tasking. Thus from time to time he would fall back into a comatose state, lasting from days to monthes at a time, leaving him and his securitrons disabled and harmless, left to the mercy of anyone able to breach the Lucky 38.

Cassidy climbs to the Summit of the Lucky 38, in order to have a safe shelter seeing as how there was only one way in or out, and also to further survey the area to decide on his travels to the East. However while he surveyed the land, he came across House's large terminal, with little power and ruined wiring, Cassidy felt it may have information on the area or more. Cassidy, while not a scientist, manages to reconnect the terminal to the system. However he also unwittingly connects the securitrons as well and is injured severelly by House's robotic gaurdians.

Luckily, when Cassidy reconnected the terminal he also repaired the system issues cause House to comatose and forced him to awaken permenately (Like he is in New Vegas), House seeing that the man had been injured but also had allowed him freedom from the system failures, spared a moment of mercy and shuts down the security and has Victor place Cassidy into one of House's prototype life-support chambers in a Vault-like area nearby, the chamber was a prototype to rejuvinate and heal himself before he moved himself into his permenant chamber. The chamber was functional to save and repair Cassidy to the state of health before he was attacked by the deathclaw and securitrons, but due to system limitations and hardware failure over the years could not repair his heart, scars, or awaken him from the coma that plagued House for so long.

    [Years Later]

Soon House himself forgot the stranger who had revived him, as he found new interest in the NCR and Legion and the rebuiling of Vegas as New Vegas.

So Cassidy layed silent, under the broken streets of New Vegas for almost 30 years, until an ambitous Courier discovered him.

  12. My Blast Door is up. but I left it untextured. I tried to do a texture for it, but it sucked. So Kudos and credits to anybody that does textures for it.

i can't open the page, says file is hidden.

Hmm... Try messaging him about it. It has been almost 6 monthes since he uploaded that so perhaps he took it down, sometimes it happens.
