  1. For a while now, I've been crashing at random. It seems to be triggered by moving into an area, "chosen" at random, that crashes me upon entering, even after reloading a save right before it. Waiting/sleeping for a long enough time (such as 8 hours) stops that area-centric crash, but eventually, maybe a few hours later, another spot continuously crashes me again! I'm not sure what the problem is. My mods are clean according to LOOT, and I don't know what the conflict is. A while back (while having this same problem), I removed my loose "Mesh" folder and still crashed, so if it's a mesh, it's in a BSA, if that helps. Here's my mod list according to LOOT:
  2. I should add that I do use HDT, so that may also be a factor. I don't recall the best way to benchmark FPS during the game, so do suggest if I should use something better, but I'll check it tomorrow with Fraps.
  3. So, I've started playing Skyrim after a long break, and built a new mod setup. It isn't too crazy AFAIK, and I haven't had a CTD yet, but as I play the game, my FPS gradually drops. I'm guessing that it's a script/CPU problem? I don't really know. Here's my mod list as per LOOT: Do you guys have any suggestions? I'm rusty after having been gone for so long, so any help is appreciated!
  4. Well, we are just that pissed, I guess. I mean, it's true that Skyrim quests tend to be kinda 'closed off', which bothers me too. It feels more like an action game than an open RPG. Can't have an open world without open people and interactions!
  5. Yeah! Thank you, guys! I never got around to playing this before Skyrim reared its head, for some reason, and it would suck if I was too late. I like Elsweyr and Oblivion, you know!
  6. Well, I had this problem, or a similar problem to this just now... Vanilla reinstall of Oblivion, nuked MyGames folders and everything, and that reinstall guide surprisingly saved my hide! The registry went bad in my case, and my registry cleaner wasn't solving it because I wasn't restarting my computer after I uninstalled Oblivion, and before I ran a check... I'm actually an experienced modder, too, so all the more power to ya! Anyways, yeah, your save should be fine. The save file is kept in the 'My Documents/My Games/Oblivion/Save' folder, or something similar. Anyways, I think it would be totally worth it to just take a minute to read through the uninstall procedure and try it. It could save you several days of fixing work that I had to deal with! Damn thing, just deciding to stop running for no reason...
  7. Just throwing this out there... When you first find Serana, you CAN bring her to the Dawnguard. Talking to Isran at that point, if I remember correctly, he actually tells you to bring Serana back home. (Serana decides to stay outside- she can sense the racism from a distance... (Vampires are people too, you know!)) Can't remember the details, as its been a while, but yeah... Has no one really tried to do that? Add: And another thing, you don't technically have to be human to first join the Dawnguard. Vampires can, too, since apparently Isran only notices you after a certain point. Just so you know. I did it, myself! Damn Harkon, calling my blood some worthless disease... Its insulting!
  8. Uhh... Is there really absolutely nothing in that realm? No chance of 'bad endings', 'terrifying/abhorrent events' or 'betrayal' anywhere? Hell, anything with story twists, at least?
  9. Yeah! Being isolated as you are in Skyrim (and Oblivion/Daggerfall from what I've experienced), that element is thoroughly missing... I mean, its (of course) a great game and all, but there's never really any complication. In Oblivion, though, there were some interesting nexus quests from what I remember, like Tears of the Fiend, so I was hoping there were some around like that for Skyrim. So far... Haven't found so much. Even all the high-quality and awesome followers always unerringly land on the invincible "I love you!" state, unless you purposely go out of your way to be a very obvious douche, or just reject them.
  10. I was wondering if there were any noteworthy 'dark' or 'horror' quests around that I haven't tried... Horror not including zombie apocalypse quests, big monster jumping out of the shadows situations and such, but rather something like a continuous feeling of angst, despair, betrayal, et cetera. For the most part, all I have seen are pretty grey, or maybe 'charcoal' quests so far, vanilla or otherwise. I mean, sure, you can be in many cases a murderous psychopath, or equivalent of one, but that's not what I'm looking for... Rather, I'm thinking of something more on playing the losing side, or the victim. Preferably, the conflict shouldn't be a simple great threat to the character's life, but something else important to them, though anything reaching the intended effect works. Assuming it fits into the general atmosphere, and is somewhat lore-friendly. Anyway, if that makes any sense, what are some possible candidates? --Just to clarify, when I say Twisted in the title, I mean story twists.
