  1. So I have already cleaned out the Armory, and now I am trying to leave the bunker that you go into when starting the Anchorage quest line. I only state this to clarify as I have seen some people talking about a glitch with the armory not opening Anyways the door that leads to the elevator that you use to leave the bunker is not working. It is hard to explain but it is see through. I can see the elevator behind it. You can see black lines outlining where things like the hinges and bars around the door would be. I cannot aim at the door and make it open. I also cannot fast travel out of the bunker. Also I have a windows 8 computer, Im not sure if that matters but after all the problems that I had trying to get F3 to run in the first place I thought I should state that. Also I have installed all of the mods that Gophervids shows in his 8 series modding videos. The only thing that I have not yet installed is f03edit. Is this something that would fix this problem?
  2. thanks that is perfect! I am now going through all of his videos to do all of them
  3. So I read that you cannot install FWE with the nexus mod manager, and you need FOMM to do it. However I have already started getting a lot of mods with NMM. So can I download FOMM and do just FWE through it and the other mods through NMM? If not then what should I do to fix this? I read in one of the guides on here that you can "Extract all 3 into a new folder called Data, being careful with overwriting order (hotfix last). Right click folder to create an archive from it, and add via NMM clicking "add mod from file"." However to be honest I got lost with what it meant by the overwriting order. Does this just mean putting the hotfix in the folder last or what?
  4. This was a whole lot of help thanks so much!!!
  5. Ok it just started working!!!! So like I said I downloaded that intel file that you told me to from your signature. In there I saw that it had the FALLOUT config file that the G4WL disabler needed but could not find. Anyways I thought that I could possibly drag that into mydocuments/mygames/ fallout3 and then try the disabler. So this time it saw the file and let me disable G4WL and the game is now running. Thanks for all the help I appreciate it!!
  6. Ok i tried downloading that file but it still was crashing after the title screen. I went to get that plugins.txt, but I cant find it. If I do C:\Users I end up having 3 options Cam (my name), DefaultAppPool, or Public. There is not a appdata/local/fallout3 under any of them. I even tried just searching Plugins.txt in windows search, but I still came up with nothing. and yea that would have been a lot of stuff to write out. I didnt want to post on the forums for help because I figured it would be a lot of information someone would need to type, that was why I tried to just google it first. Thanks for taking the time to help me.
  7. Do you mean the configuration file that is under steam/steamapps/common/fallout3goty and is called Fallout_default? Or would it be the mydocuments/mygames/fallout3 and is called falloutprefs? system specs Intel Core i3 3.3ghz 8gb Ram AMD Radeon HD 6800 Series I wasnt sure what all you would need for system specs, is there anything else?
  8. The only thing that I have installed is the game itself, so no geck, fose, or fo3edit.
  9. I just found this website: http://windows8themes.org/how-to-disable-data-execution-prevention-in-windows-8.html I added the game, but it is still crashing when I press play. Any other ideas?
  10. I hate to sound stupid, but to be honest Im pretty lost in regards to most of your post. What actually needs to be done, and how would I do it? thanks!
  11. Hey guys so as you can see from the title of my thread, I am having major issues running FO3 on my windows 8 (64bit) computer. I get the to title screen, and when I hit play the game crashes. So first, I guess I should tell you what I have tried, 1. I tried downloading the d3d9.dll file and placing it in the fallout 3 goty folder. At the same time I went and edited the codes in notebook in the configuration files. This lead to the launcher crashing before I could press play. 2. Someone said that it was a compatibility issue so I found a thread on here where someone listed a number of different files that you need to go in and adjust the compatibility settings for. This lead to the same initial problem of the launcher working but then the game crashing when I pressed play. 3. I tried getting the G4WL disabler. However when I would try to use that it would tell me that it could not see the .ini file it needed. I read online that the goty named it falloutpref and not fallout.ini so I went and renamed it that. I received the same error message. 4. I read also that if you download the Games for Windows Marketplace client then the game would run correctly. So i tried that, but the installation of the client kept failing. So then I find where you have to change the compatibility of the installer, because the client does not work on windows 8. However I still received the same error message. The message was one long code that I could not copy and paste. I have been at this for a majority of the night, and I am ready to name my firstborn after whomever can help me fix this problem! I am calling it a night, and I will check back in on the thread in the morning. Any help at all would be GREATLY appreciated!
