  1. Nothing you've been asked for could compromise your computer in anyway. I'm not sure why you'd think listing your Oblivion video settings could be a problem. (Same for the dxdiag info.) I believe open cities can cause some issues. You shouldn't really edit the ini files if you don't know what you're doing.
  2. How much dedicated memory does your video card have, doesn't look like you should have any issues. Mind posting detailed info about your video settings?
  3. Either your video card isn't very good or your video settings are too high for your system to run the game. For dxdiag, click your windows button. In the search box type "dxdiag", no quotes. It should list one program, click on it. Let it run and then save the information, copy and paste all the saved information into a post here.

  6. Change the settings you are using. Blue areas in the normal map reflect light, if its too shiny in game then you will want more transparency in your normal map. Try changing your alpha channel settings.

  8. I never said anything about a special enchanting altar. You stated that you had an issue with your UI in your first post due to the difference in on hit and 1 second enchants and how they work.
  9. I kept it simple, it was one phase. I have yet to use the other 2 blocks for spell scripts. Either way, after many hours of trying to figure it out I just went with what worked every time.
  10. I'm not sure why, in open areas or more closed areas, like a sewer for instance, I've had activators cast sometimes and not others. For instance I have some scripted percentage (proc) based enchants and the activator wouldn't always cast when it was supposed to, which is that sometimes it would and other times it wouldn't and for no particular reason either way. Script was fine as an aside, I ended up just going with player.casting and sucking it up that the player casts the proc buff on themselves but it breaks immersion in my opinion.
  11. I'm generally find with any of those excluding flv/mov. I use VLC however so I can watch any format. I don't like watching videos on youtube or any variant of it, I'd rather download the video like your current ones and watch them at my leisure.

  14. On hit and over 1 second are basically the same. I'm not sure what problem you're getting with your ui. You could always script your own enchants and apply them to weapons in the construction set and then either put them at a vendor or somewhere in the game world. (You could also script your own enchants and make modified sigil stones that will apply the enchant to any weapon and then just use console commands or some other means to add the sigil stones to your inventory).
  15. I have several obse plug ins such as pluggy plus multiple mods that require obse. I have my own mod that requires obse 18(beta). <.<
  16. No reason to call other peoples ideas lame, or is that how you'd like people to respond to your request threads and ideas?
  17. Is the two handed sword the length you want for a one handed version? If so it would be, relatively, easy to make it into a one handed sword for your own use.

  19. You would have to change the normal map for the texture. If you have gimp and a normal map plugin (http://nifelheim.dyndns.org/~cocidius/normalmap/) you will need to open the texture and run the normal map filter. In the settings when you run the filter change the alpha channel to "height" (if you cant change the alpha channel duplicate the texture layer and then try again). Save the new image as "texturename"_n.dds. If you had to duplicate the layer just hide the original layer.
  20. 7zip is a free utility and probably one of the best for what it does, I'm not sure why you wouldn't want to use it. There's hundreds of weapon mods to go through on tesnexus and weeding out the ones that aren't a certain archive format would be a bit of work.
  21. Vista or XP? There's nothing (explicitly)wrong with the nvidia 8400 and running Oblivion. Make sure your drivers up to date. (Not that its likely the problem but you never know, I use an nvidia 8400 mobile, no issues.) I strongly second what Dezdimona said about checking your ventilation. Make sure all your vents and fans are free from dust/debri and anything that would block airflow.
  22. Only running a 400 watt power supply? Kind of low, that was a standard and acceptable thing a decade ago. On the subject of dual cores, if oblivion isn't coded to take advantage of it, it doesn't matter. If not the only advantage that dual core provides is being able to run oblivion and other programs without the other programs having the same kind of impact on performance as it would if you were using a single core. I'd wager your two most probable suspects are over heating or your power supply, I'm leaning towards psu and the new 1gb video card.
  23. There are no secret dungeons. HM makes a ton of changes to the game that impact dungeons that are not dungeons any of his mobs spawn in, this includes every ayleid cask in the game being changed to drop his potion set up and armors. (In one of the quest dungeons I went into with HM installed I got 3 of the same HM armor in one chest).
  24. Wouldn't this require some heavy scripting in a game mode block to do? if thats even possible. hmmm <.< scrolling combat text would be awesome ><
  25. Honestly I don't know, I thought it was derived from HGEC as well but I don't use any high rez textures so someone else would have to answer that... <.<
