  1. That sounds great actually. It's a proven model that already works. I was just thinking, "Why can't the modding community just push donations as a hugely positive thing that lots more people should get into?"
  2. So is it safe to say that this is Bethesda both shooting themselves in the foot, and taking their own partner - Valve - hostage over their abortion of an MMO that nobody wanted? Demanding ransom from us or they'll do something drastic. It honestly kinda looks that way. But seriously, the day any of us saw an amazing site like this and the amazing scene that are mods for games like TES or Fallout, it was only common sense to realize that it was almost too good to be true.
  3. Compared to Oblivon, the towns seemed a lot more bland to me. "Ya know, we've been able to make this living breathing city that's like actually there. It's like man, I'd totally live here." - Megan Sawyer, World Artist, The Making of Oblivion (@ Art segment around 14:35) I can't say the same thing about Skyrim's, "Cities." I feel like that attitude is absolutely necessary for creating the kind of atmosphere Oblivion's cities had. Skyrim towns are bland and uninteresting to me. Sure they've got some unique aspects like artitecture and unique buildings, but I just feel like the designers for the NPCs didn't care about enjoying themselves much in making any atmosphere to them. What would you rather have: A few places you can see that get old after seeing them 6 times, or a town full of lively people, all who have been developed and attended to really closely? I'd choose the latter any day. To me it just doesn't seem like they had any fun making Skyrim's cities. And I'd appreciate a lack of, "Just mod away your problems," responses. The kind of development I want from them is beyond what mods can offer.
  4. I'm having some pretty irritating problems with the Diverse City Guard mod SPARTAN VI made way back. It adds unique armor to each city's guards, and also adds Bonemold armor to the game. I've been trying to load it, and each time I do it doesn't work. There are 3 different versions of the mod: 1.0, 1.1, and 1.2. I've tried packaging them together in one and using them separately, every - single - time I get a flood of yellow exclamation points all over Anvil's castle, a few in the fighters guild, and 1 at the front Anvil gate. I've tried navigating though the Oblivion construction set, but I don't have a lot of experience with it, so I have no clue what I'm doing or looking for. What I was wondering was: - If anyone knew a fix somebody made for this? - If anyone knew how to take EVERYTHING out of the mod, then replace only the guard armor and Bonemold armor? - Or if anyone had a decent alternative to this mod. Edit: FIXED IT! For future reference, or anyone who was in my position: The problem on my end was a Fighter's Guild Porter in Anvil had a Templar sword on him (might be from one of the creator's mods or something) and it was invisible, so the porter had a massive yellow exclamation point sticking out of him. It was the same with a table in the Anvil Fighter's guild. There was also 2 in the city area: Both by torch-stands near the gates to the castle and the gate out of the city. In the castle itself I literally couldn't see in some places because the yellow exclamations were piled on top of each other so thick. OK, this is what I did: I downloaded everything all over (probably unnecessary), I saved each of those downloads to a different folder (probably unnecessary as well). Then I extracted everything to that folder, and looked through the Read Me: It specifically says to check only the, "SPARTANVIsDiverseCityGuards.esp," file in the main menu or OBMM. Well, in my Oblivion menu launcher under Data Files (I chose not to use OBMM this time) I have: -SPARTAN VI - Diverse City Guards v1.esp -SPARTAN VI'S Diverse City Guards for OOO.esp -SPARTAN VI'S Diverse City Guards v1 2.esp If you're having the same problem (same yellow exclamations in the same areas) tickONLY, only the SPARTAN VI'S Diverse City Guards v1 2.esp, nothing else. Now that I found the solution, I'm gonna post it in the mod's comment page in case anyone else has the problem and only goes there.
  5. Well, that's disappointing, and at the same time relieving. I know I heard of a sneaking gear he made, but never thought it was from Metal Gear Solid. I tried just looking for Metal Gear Solid and Gray Fox stuff, and got nothing. I'm still pretty excited to try and make a mod. I guess since his is a little different from what I'm aiming for. I could keep this up and go for a really close replication of Gray Fox's exoskeleton. He did a lot with the suit the main character(Solid Snake from Metal Gear Solid 4) has called Octocamo. I know this definitely decreases the amount of people who might help me out with this, so I'll do some research about making it on my own. I had a question though. Does this image mean the Frank Jaeger mask isn't in his mod amymore? Also should I give him credit if I complete mine, even though they'll be separate?
  6. I had a cool idea for some armor and a ninjato. If you've ever played the game Metal Gear Solid, you might know who I'm talking about. There's a character in the game named Frank Jaeger who after death is brought back to life and used to further research on the human genome. He's forced into an exoskeleton. I don't want to go on about the character too much, so on to the point. I was hoping somebody could either help me make or make themselves the exokeleton and ninjato. Here it is: http://img37.imageshack.us/img37/931/ninjadv.jpg This was the original concept art of Jaeger. Here are some more: Jaegers brief appearance in Super Smash Bros Brawl as a Trophy Character Jaegar from the remake of the original Metal Gear Solid on the Gamecube, Metal Gear Twin Snakes. Jaeger from the original Metal Gear Solid in an underground laboratory. Jaeger before the exoskeleton was put on. If you want me to do this, I have to warn you. You are talking to a complete novice. I don't know the first thing about making mods, and I'd need a patient teacher who's willing to work with me a lot. I'd like the armor and sword to be a high quality mod. I think the armor should weigh hardly anything like 3 pounds for the torso and 2 for the legs. The helmet about 3 pounds as well. Sorry, but I don't know how much those would be in kilograms or any other weight system. When I started this post I was going to say it should be easy. Just edit a set of clothes as a plain male body with some orange, blue and silver. But I take the idea of using clothes back, and think they should be made of armor for some defense at least, maybe the defense of leather or iron. I think the armor should have massive acrobat, athletics, sneak and speed boosts. Maybe a strength boost, but I don't think strength would fit a ninja much. The helmet with a medium life detection, and if possible a chameleon spell that the caster can use at any level, but takes half the magic of a recently made character(don't know how much that is) and lasts maybe 1 minute. All of the enchantments as constant effects. The only difference between katanas and ninjatos is that ninjatos have straight blades, they're apparently shorter too, but don't need to be here. The good thing about this is that it's not a very unique katana and doesn't need the cord attached to the hip. Just a black and red hilt(red diamonds down the center), with a square gold hand guard. I don't think it needs much different stats from an Akaviri katana. He typically holds his katana with the blade pointed to the ground, but that's too much of a hassle, and doesn't seem like a very good idea to hold one anyway. I think this armor should be found in a ruin, cave, dungeon etc. near the snowy mountains to the north(like in the original Metal Gear Solid on Shadow Moses Island). I downloaded the Final Fantasy VII Crisis Core Buster Sword, and I liked how the creator of that made you venture out and find the sword yourself. I think the armor should be found on a dead body that looks a bit similar to Jaeger. Here is the Crisis Core Buster Sword I'd also like this mod to be compatible with manikins, like the ones in this mod. ArmoryLab I don't know of much else to say here, but I'll check back regularly for replies.
