It's been a while since I played Skyrim... After installing all sorts of modern fixes like USSEP, USMP, Engine Fixes, Mesh Fixes, etc. I started a new game and while I was walking in the Whiterun tundra I noticed Mammoth still fly like in 2011. So I wanted to ask if there's a fix mod I missed, I can't believe it's still an issue...
-
that's great news! out of curiosity, would such a mod differ from the bEssentialTakeNoDamage tweak suggested above?
-
there are a couple of mods that change the essential flags to protected, but several NPCs are still unkillable because the setting is overridden by scripts.
i'd like to request a fallout 4 version of "everyone dies", it's a skyrim skse plugin (with source code) that makes all npcs killable and always worked perfectly for me.
-
Useful for what? Are you actually requesting a quest mod which allows you to use this info while being a BoS member?
either something like this, or a more general way of accessing selected terminals like Mass Bay medical center, Natick police department, Boston public library, the Institute... for immersion and fun, you know (although I don't know whether this would result in horribly broken quests, should probably be limited to "safe" terminals only like journals, patient records, etc)
-
How difficult would it be to expand the Hacker perk to enable remote access to, e.g., the Institute terminals?
I joined the BoS and some things like getting the info about McDonough's identity from their terminal would be very useful. In real life you can "hack" computers remotely, not just locally, so I thought it would be cool if this was doable.

Hey, thanks for your reply Bernt. I know the game is a sandbox, but when you use an alternate start mod in FNV or Skyrim, the world feels alive: people living their lives, things happening, quests that have nothing do with the MQ, etc. In F4 my impression was either you play the main quest or you're stuck with some depressing barren landscape simulator... Doing screenshots you can certainly create more interesting stories, but I'd like to roleplay inside the game. Hopefully as you said the DLC and the bigger quest mods on the nexus can help with that.

Short version: is Fallout 4 good for roleplaying? (RP only, no main quest)
Long version:
I love Bethesda's games because of how you can forge your own reality using mods. In fact, I always skip the main quest thanks to "alternate start" mods and make my own story. This is what I did in Fallout 3 and Skyrim.
Now... I played Fallout 4's main quest once at my friend's house and while I didn't like the way it forces you to follow certain paths, choices, etc. I like its improved graphics and engine.
What worries me, though, is the very few side quests it appears to have - e.g. http://fallout.wikia.com/wiki/Category:Fallout_4_side_quests (compare those to Skyrim or to the older Fallout 3 and NV)
So my question is: should I buy Fallout 4 or not? If I skip the main quest, would I find myself in a big empty sandbox with almost nothing to do?

It's been a while since I played Fallout 3, anyway I reinstalled it (GOTY, with patch 1.7 from Bethesda's website), disabled DLCs, removed Games For Windows Live, added some mods, and it works fine... without FOSE. With FOSE, it won't start. The log file says:
launching: Fallout3.exe (C:\Games\Fallout3\Fallout3.exe) crc = 4614F449 You have the original retail version of Fallout. Please patch it to the latest version available from www.bethsoft.com. checksum not found
But the game IS patched and fose is installed in Fallout's main directory (not Data).
I tried with administrator/compatibility mode, UAC off, nothing seems to work. Googled and searched the forums, cannot find a working solution...
*** Ok, if others have the same problem here's how I fixed it:
the problem was, I used a 4GB patch before applying the official patch, so fallout3.exe wasn't updated to 1.7 and FOSE would recognize it as unpatched (retail version). I simply restored the fallout3.exe (there was a backup in Fallout's directory) and re-applied the official patch. Now FOSE works fine :)

I second the request. Kyoma's Journal Mod was my favorite Oblivion mod and it would be awesome to have in Skyrim!
-
Bethesda changed this from Oblivion to Skyrim for a reason. Probably because they realized that it's kind of unrealistic. Your spells come from your hands, which are holding a sword or a shield.
Away with this "realism" nonsense plaguing my games! :wallbash:
I totally second xleileix's request, Oblivion's system is the way to go.

I'm still wondering where are the promised 70 voiced actors... And why is it that female Nords have that heavy German (or Scandinavian?) accent but not the males?
I'd donate, but then everyone would complain that my accent breaks lore.
I think a different accent would not break lore if used for Argonians, Khajiits etc. (like Bethesda did in Skyrim).
-
Forced choices as in the molag bal quest, werewolf, cannibalism, etc. Plus Steam, the lighting system, few npcs, and a few other things.
-
The same happened to me. I didn't know how to fix the problem, so I just copied my game saves, uninstalled everything, reinstalled and copied the saves back.

if you are so miserable about skyrim and steam... then leave? a few of us skyrim fans want to talk about skyrim on the skyrim forums... not about why steam hurts your e-feelings.
Attacking every poster who says anything about your beloved Steam makes you look like what you are. But keep trolling anyway. Soon no one will take your bait.

However, there IS something to be done about it: I'm never making the mistake of buying a game that relies on Steam again. If that means I miss out on a lot of games, so be it. I really regret caving in and buying Skyrim and installing Steam. The pair are getting wiped off my pc today.
Won't be making that mistake ever again.
That's for sure. I didn't know anything about Steam before buying Skyrim, but I'm not going to fall again in the same trap.

@Kazakovich, I doubt it's a genuine petition. Smells like christwire.org and/or *chan stupidity (and it's suspiciously similar to the other cw article on skyrim)
-
When I develop an application my paying users expect me to fix any bugs they find, and I fix them. Silly and unrealistic? I don't think so. If the list of bugs in Skyrim is huge that's only Bethesda's fault, WE are actually beta-testing their game for free but they should listen and fix the bugs... or at least give up, release the construction kit (so that WE can fix them) and stop claiming that EVERY bug they found is either "rare" or "occasional".

@ Mansh00ter: you, sir, get a kudo for your excellent post.
-
Actually unlike other integrated cards, this one (i5 2500 sandy bridge gfx) is good enough for me, I just wish there was a lower resolution for 5:4. Guess I'll have to buy a widescreen monitor for this pc then.
(anyway +kudos to your for your help)
-
I thought it was 4:3, but then that would have worked with 800x600. You're right, it's 5:4... unfortunately below 1024x768 there is no 5:4 compatible resolution available...
-
Thanks for your reply, but I should have mentioned that I wanted to play on two different machines - one has a Sapphire HD (works fine) and the other one has an integrated intel card that works with lower resolutions (e.g. 800x600, albeit stretched) but stutters with higher ones. My monitor's native resolution is 1280x1024 so I can't use this resolution on the second pc, hence the ratio problem. Any ideas?
-
Does anybody know if there is a way to fix aspect ratio on a 4:3 display? When playing Oblivion on a 1280x1024 (not widescreen) monitor it looks vertically stretched.
Thanks
